Point Guard

Russell Westbrook - FD 9800 DK 10000 DFSTR 0
If you're looking to invest at PG, look no further than Russell Westbrook. With Durant clearly still easing in to his full rotations, Westbrook has been a tornado wrapped in a hurricane, gobbling up possessions at a frenetic pace. Detroit's been one of the worst teams against opposing PGs this season (6th worst), as the guys that pass through the PG ranks there range from indifferent to incompetent. I think Westbrook is safe for cash games, and a decent option for GPPs if the proper punts are in place around him.

Jrue Holiday - FD 7300 DK 7800 DFSTR 0
Holiday has been rather up and down, but his involvement in the Pelicans offense means his floor still isn't terribly low. What it mostly comes down to with Holiday is minutes and opponent. This makes him fundamentally NOT a cash game play, but the upside in GPPs is undeniable. The Lakers are the third worst team in the league against opposing point guards this season, and another effort like his 45 fantasy point monster against OKC is in play if this one stays close.

Also considered: Conley for safety, Jennings for upside.

Keep an eye on Mario Chalmers as well - if Cole sits again, he's a more than viable play.

Shooting Guard

Tyreke Evans - FD 7500 DK 7500 DFSTR 0
I have to level with you, and say that I'm pretty perplexed with Evans' performance so far this year. If you would have told me that he'd be a nearly sure bet for something like 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and playing as many as 38 points a game, I'd have assumed he'd be a fantasy monster that was incredibly consistent. Well, like a lot of shooting guards, his big nights come and go. I haven't been playing him as much recently, but on a short slate, it's very likely that he'll anchor the lead shooting guard position on my cash game squads against the semi-helpless Lakers.

Giannis Antetokounmpo - FD 5600 DK 5500 DFSTR 0Yup, it's that kind of night for shooting guards. While the Greek Freak will absolutely come and go on you, he's actually been quite consistent over the last several games. He's had 3 pretty bad games in his last 10, but the INCREDIBLE games he's had in that stretch have more than made up for it. And while one of those stinkers was against the Mavs, Zach Lowe's terrific recent piece on the Mavs difficulty covering guys around the perimeter has me thinking that this one is lot more likely to be a good game than a bad one.

Also considered: Wesley Matthews.

Small Forward

Josh Smith - FD 7700 DK 8000 DFSTR 0
Hope you read last night's picks, and played Smoove against the Sixers! While he did get the benefit of overtime, Smith still played a fantastic game and a TON of minutes. With other Pistons in and out of favor, he seems to be the one guy on Detroit who's capable of going off (while being relatively unlikely to disappear) on a given night. With Kevin Durant still looking a step slow, this could be another terrific match-up for him.

Tayshaun Prince - FD 3500 DK 3000 DFSTR 0
Tayshaun absolutely blew up coming off the bench in his first game returning from injury, and while there's almost no chance he's going to have another game that good all season - he should be able to provide something like a rich man's version of what Shawn Marion has done this season, if the points are to be believed. Miami's rotating cast of small forward characters have actually been quite good against opposing SFs this season, but this rating is more about opportunity and price than Tayshaun taking over or anything.

Nicolas Batum - FD 6700 DK 6600 DFSTR 0
The cash game special. Playing an extremely tight range of minutes and scoring between 30-33 fantasy points in each of his last three games, Batum is the surest bet to hit value from the small forward position today, if he's the least sexy. The Knicks are exactly league average against opposing SFs, so Batum can be expected to continue along business as usual.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis - FD 11800 DK 11700 DFSTR 0
Many, many people will make the call to invest in the Brow against the Lakers tonight. And with good reason. Depending on which day you check, the blow-time Lakers are either dead last or second to last against opposing power forwards. The athleticism mismatch between Davis and Boozer is somewhere in the 10th grader against 7th grader range, give or take. While there's always risk involved when you're investing this much in any specific player, the only real risk in this contest is the Pelicans blowing them out before Brow can get his full run.

Amar'e Stoudemire - FD 5900 DK 5900 DFSTR 0
It was a strange game for Stoudemire against Charlotte to be sure. He got into foul trouble early, and then never seemed to play a major role in the offense from that point out. While Portland is pretty tough against opposing big men, the price is still at the point where Stat makes for a pretty safe play with considerable upside as well.

Also considered: Greg Monroe

Center

Marc Gasol - FD 8400 DK 8700 DFSTR 0
If you take a look at Gasol's last ten games, you might see the same picture I do: a superstar. While there are two stinkers there, he's paid value in every other game, including a more than 6x behemoth against the Spurs. While Miami has been able to piece it other against lesser centers this season, they're still 22nd in the league against them. Gasol will be one of their very toughest match-ups yet, and I think he'll absolutely have his way in all phases of the game.

Omer Asik - FD 5400 DK 5200 DFSTR 0
It's sort of hard to make out what Asik is at this point in his career. His rebounding is absolutely elite on a per minute basis, but his offensive performance has made it very hard for the Pels to play him when they need a bucket. The good news for him is that the Lakers are terrible against every position, and dead last in the league against opposing Centers.

Also considered: Zaza Pachulia, if Sanders is out.
