Quick note on these picks. The Brewers are far and away the favorites in our system for total bases today. It's rather obvious. They face a left, in Coors and are a righty-dominant squad that can rake. Consider this your non-Brewer edition of the ScoreStreak picks. Braun, Gomez, Lucroy, etc are top plays and we'd just be going around and around talking about the thin air, the platoon splits, etc.

Total Bases

Giancarlo Stanton
Stanton should be arrested for what he does to left handed pitching, because he absolutely murders them. In 53 at bats, he has 20 hits(.377 batting average), with 4 home runs, 6 extra base hits, and 9 walks. It just so happens that Mr. Giancarlo will be facing a lefty today. To say this is a good match up, would be insulting to Stanton. The Marlins are in the top half of the league in terms of, batting average, home runs, runs, and slugging percentage at home this year.  While Jon Niese has pitched well this season, Stanton's brute strength should give him the edge. Also in Stanton's favor, is Niese's line drive percentage, which is above league average.

Victor Martinez
I let the system make this pick, between V-Mart and Miguel Cabrera, and it had Martinez. Before we get to Martinez, let's quicky glance at Josh Tomlin. Tomlin gives up over a home run and a half per game. His line drive percentage is well above league average. While he has a good ERA, his FIP is above 4.00. The worst stat of them all, is his home run to fly ball ratio. It's awful. The league average is around 7-9%, Tomlin is over 13.0%! Martinez has 18 home runs on the year, and 13 of them have come off right handers.

Hits

Jose Altuve
If Stanton should be arrested for hitting lefties well, Altuve should be put on death row. In 82 at bats, he has 35 hits, good for a batting average of .427!  If you need more than that, Bedard has an xFIP of 4.72, and gives up more than a hit per inning. Altuve leads the MLB in hits, that's all you really need to know.

Chase Utley
Apparently I'm digging the second basemen in the hits department today. Two things are in our favor in this match up. 1. Utley hits righties better than lefties. 2. Utley hits better away from home (surprisingly). Utley has also had hits in 7 of his last 10 games.

Strikeouts

Yu Darvish- It was tough to find a match up that was "perfect" today(pitcher facing a team leading league in Ks) and tough to decide between Darvish and Tanaka for the top spot, so I'm rolling with the system here. Darvish is far and away the best projected pitcher today, and for good reason. Darvish has never had a K/9 under 10 in his career, and this year is no different, standing at 10.86. He leaves over 80% of his runners on base, and is pitching to a FIP near two and a half. A top strike out guy year to year, has had 8 or more Ks in seven of his last 10 starts. Good reason to play Yu today.

Yordano Ventura
I liked my second basemen for hits, and I like my Y pitchers for strikeouts today. As good as Ventura is, this is about how bad Seattle is. They have almost 600 strikeouts as a team. They're also in the bottom 5 for average, hits and total bases. The kid they're calling "Ace Ventura", should be able to blaze his way through this lineup.
