Point Guard

Ty Lawson - FD 7500 DK 7000
Lawson had a miserable first one and a half games to start the season. And then in the second half against OKC on Saturday he bounced back in a big way finishing with a 25/5/2 line. The seven turnovers aren't ideal, but I think as he finds his groove with a relatively new cast of characters (Afflalo and Gallo to be precise) he'll begin well outperforming this price. I think we are buying rather low all things considered here. Collison is a good defender, but Lawson has the ability to hit value on these salaries.

Tony Wroten - FD 7000 DK 7000
What I like about Wroten is that he's going to see his minutes even if the Sixers are getting blown out, which will happen a lot. With MCW out Philly has few capable ball-handlers and will call on Wroten to get the volume he needs to stay a pretty safe play. He can score, he dishes and adds in a few rebounds here and there. The Sixers are sloppy in general, so turnovers can rear their ugly heads, but if Beverley is out again Wroten should be able to get some work done on offense.

Rajon Rondo - FD 8100 DK 7900
Rondo is an interesting case. I feel like on any given night he's a pretty safe play simply because he rebounds and dishes so well that between those two stats he keeps his floor pretty high. And on the nights in which he adds the points? Look out. Jameer Nelson is an average defender, and the Celtics are dogs here, but I like Rondo as a safer play.

Monitor the OKC situation with Reggie Jackson coming back. If Jackson sits again, Telfair makes for an interesting cheap option.

Also, if Patrick Beverley sits again Isaiah Canaan is a solid punt play at PG.

Shooting Guard

Really hate this position tonight. I don't think you are getting much value in here.
James Harden - FD 10000 DK 10300
Warning: He's one the best pts/$ play at the position, but not amazing relative to the field
He'll cost you a ton and I actually think he's a bit overpriced for my liking on DraftKings, but few other guys have his kind of upside on any given night. The problem with Harden tonight is actually the same thing that makes him a solid play. And that's the opponent. The Rockets have a great chance to run Philly out of the building meaning Harden would see limited fourth quarter run. On short slates it's tough to avoid blowout risk, but man, you are going to be sweating it.

Arron Afflalo - FD 6000 DK 5300
I don't think I've ever been right on this guy. I pick him? He sucks. I don't pick him? He's fine. He needs to score to hit value. And the Kings have, in the past, allowed above average scoring to shooting guards. Our system really like him tonight. I'll be honest, I'm lukewarm, but will consider it in some spots as one of the few mid-tier SG's that is going to see the minutes.

Andre Roberson - FD 5400 DK 5200
As much about price as anything else. Shooting guard is where I'm disinclined to get a ton of money in simply because I think it's better spent other places. Hard to know if Roberson will get the same amount og run when Reggie Jackson returns. That being said, OKC needs guys who can take the court and he does so many different things on the court that I think this price is pretty safe if you think he sees thirty minutes.

Consider JJ Redick

Small Forward

Trevor Ariza - FD 6100 DK 6000
He like the rest of his Rocket teammates are great guys in our system because of the opponent. For Ariza it will mostly come down to minutes. Against the Sixers, in what could be a wide open game, I like Ariza's floor at the position even with the blowout risk. And on dK he adds a little bonus if he starts knocking down some threes.

Chandler Parsons - FD 6500 DK 6500
After a slow start in his first game with a new team, Parsons has gotten into the flow of the Mavs' offense and contributed in a big way over the last two games scoring twenty or more in both. Parsons and Ariza are both coming in the mid tier of SF's on a night that doesn't have a ton of options.

Perry Jones - FD 6800 DK 6400
His price has climbed and with good reason. With both Durant and Westbrook out, the Thunder need someone who can score. Jones has obliged with 23 and 32 in his last two games. I'm a little concerned about his usage in the offense when Reggie Jackson comes back into the fold. Jackson is a scorer in his own right and Jones really needs to pour in the buckets to hit value. I think his price is a risk, but would consider him tonight.

Power Forward

Lot to like at this position tonight and I don't think you need to spend all the way up to Blake or Davis.

Jared Sullinger - FD 6600 DK 6400
Like Lawson on Saturday, I had written Sullinger off for dead in the first half. But he chipped away in the second half and ended up turning in a nice performance. I think we continue to see his productivity climb this season and if he puts a full game together then watch out. He could be a consistent double-double. Power forwards have eaten up the Mavs to start this season with Anthony Davis just crushing them last game. Sullinger isn't Davis of course, but if he's coming into his own he can crush these prices.

Derrick Favors - FD 7400 DK 7900
Speaking of power forwards on the rise, Favors turned in a monster against Suns with a 32/9 night that paid off for this guy in a big way. He is still coming cheap relative to upside and as I said in my Saturday picks, the only real concern with Favors has been the minutes. If he is going to see in the mid thirties of run then this is about as low as you'll see his tag this season.

Terrence Jones - FD 6100 DK 6300
He's not the safest guy in the world as his performances tend to boom or bust. I'd be more inclined to run him out there in GPPs because unlike the guys above, I feel like Jones is more inclined to no-show a game. But he also has as much top end upside as anyone else at the position and definitely more than anyone in his price range.

Strongly consider Kenneth Faried and Jason Thompson facing each other at different price points, but in solid matchups.

Center

DeMarcus Cousins - FD 9600 DK 9700
All you need to know about the interior defense of the Denver Nuggets is that Kendrick F@#$ing Perkins put up a 17/5 line against them the other night. Perkins is historically bad on offense. And he scored 17 points. Boogie is my top play at center position mostly because Perkins proved what we already know, Denver can't defend big men. Boogie is coming off a 35/17/5/3 game against the Clippers yesterday that you might have missed while watching football. Our system doesn't factor in that performance at all, but the line is pretty amazing. Look for him to pour it on again tonight. I'll be running him as much as I can.

Dwight Howard - FD 9100 DK 8500
Playing the Sixers, yada-yada. Dwight's been fine to start the season, but at the same price point I don't think he has the upside of Boogie.

DeAndre Jordan - FD 6800 DK 7300
I'm not on many of the Clippers tonight. But I can get behind DeAndre against a Jazz team that struggled with opposing centers last season and is returning pretty much the same cast of characters.

  1. since you have not mentioned Marc Gasol, does it mean he won’t have a big game?
