Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings, FanDuel, and DraftPot for Monday, November 23, 2015. We have a rather heavy Monday schedule going tonight with 7 games starting at 7pm EST. The Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings are both playing the second night of back-to-back's.

Lets now dig in to the matchups and find some star and value plays for today's games.

GOALIES

STAR PLAY: Henrik Lundqvist - New York Rangers vs NSH
DraftKings - $8,200 FanDuel - $10,600 DraftPot - 6.48DPPG

I know, I know. How much insight does it take to take the #1 fantasy goalie so far this year, even at a high price? Well, confidence has been a bit shaken lately in him, having given up 3+ goals in 2 of his last 4 outings. Many may look to save on their goaltender today because they see King Henrik vs a NSH squad with a good record. Don't be fooled, he'll be underplayed on an 8 game slate due to these reasons, but Nashville's good record comes at the expense of an offense which has been sputtering and lacks a clear go-to scorer. Lundqvist also shines bright at home, going 6-1-1 with a 1.74GAA and .944 Sv %.

Also Consider: Jake Allen - St. Louis Blues at BUF

VALUE PLAY: James Reimer - Toronto Maple Leafs vs BOS
DraftKings - $6,600 FanDuel - $8,400 DraftPot - 5.00 DPPG

Reimer won't be a sleeper and because of his cost, you'll see him played roughly at the same percentages as top goalies, but he's on an amazing hot streak right now and Mike Babcock has the Leafs playing their best hockey in years right now. Their defense has been much improved and anything that's slipped past, Reimer's caught. Facing a Boston team Toronto lost to just a few nights earlier (where Reimer turned in a stellar performance in the loss), look for revenge from the Leafs at home tonight and a Reimer W.

CENTER

STAR PLAY: Nicklas Backstrom - Washington Capitals @ EDM
DraftKings - $6,700 FanDuel - $6,200 DraftPot 3.50DPPG

A MUST-START tonight against an Edmonton team giving up goals like it's their job and a revitalized Backstrom back on a line with Ovechkin and Oshie. Backstrom's been a point a game player playing mainly on a line without those two so far this year. He's a much better player on home ice and his value will increase dramatically if this line holds, so get him while he is very cheap.

Also Consider: Nathan MacKinnon - Colorado Avalanche @ WPG

VALUE PLAY: Leon Draisaitl - Edmonton Oilers vs WAS
DraftKings - $4,000 FanDuel - $3,200 DraftPot  - 3.78DPPG

Draisaitl has been a must play for salary cap relief for the past few weeks which is why he comes up at a play-rate of about 40-50% in most GPP games. He has been unstoppable on the line with Taylor Hall and it's amazing we'd probably not be seeing much of him without the injury to McDavid. With 17 points in 10 games, a low price and on a line with Taylor Hall, he's a great play even with a less than stellar matchup in WAS.

WINGERS

STAR PLAY: Alex Ovechkin - Washington Capitals vs EDM
DraftKings - $9,500 FanDuel - $10,200 DraftPot - 4.95DPPG

It may really seem like I'm going chalk with this pick, but man can you beat that matchup and new line with Oshie and Backstrom? Ovi is always going to be a shooting machine and with a strong matchup in EDM against Nilsson, the game has the earmarks of a multi-point performance from #8. He's expensive, you're going to have to sacrifice at other positions to make it, but an Ovechkin line and some solid value plays looks like the big winner tonight.

Also Consider: Taylor Hall - Edmonton Oilers @ WAS

VALUE PLAY: Matt Beleskey - Boston Bruins @ TOR
DraftKings - $3,700 FanDuel - $5,700 DraftPot - 1.83DPPG

Beleskey comes in at a nice value with exposure to the top scoring line on one of the better offenses in the NHL alongside Krecji and Eriksson. The matchup tonight against Toronto looks good on paper with Toronto's record and overall GAA, but Reimer has been stellar lately, so the upside is middling. Still, Beleskey has outplayed those around his cost and will be involved in the offense Monday night.

Also Consider - Jason Chimera - Washington Capitals @ EDM

 

DEFENSE

STAR PLAY: Justin Faulk - Carolina Hurricanes @ PHI
DraftKings - $5,800 FanDuel - $6,200 DraftPot - 3.55DPPG

There are not many great matchups for star defensemen tonight. You could go with John Carlson or Byfuglien tonight given the quality of the goalies they'll face, but I'm looking at Justin Faulk to be the blue line star tonight. He comes in cheaper than the others, is on a 5-game point streak and is facing a PHI team that is injured on defense and has a cold goalie going. He'll be represented in your leagues, but not to the tune of the other stars.

Also Consider: John Carlson - Washington Capitals vs EDM

VALUE PLAY: Shayne Gostisbehere - Philadelphia Flyers @ CAR
DraftKings - $2,700 FanDuel - $3,000 DraftPot - 2.31DPPG

Well represented because of his price in many leagues as you've probably seen, he's the best value on a night of great values on defense. He's a low priced D-man manning the point on the #1 power play unit and seeing 17-20 minutes per game ice time, so he has a good floor and ceiling. Great values on defense can be found in Sekera, Seidenberg, Girardi and Martinez if Gostisbehere isn't your flavor.
