    AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

    Pebble Beach Golf Links

    Par 72 - 6,828 Yards

    Spyglass Hill Golf Club

    Par 72 - 6,960 Yards

    Monterey Peninsula Country Club

    Par 71 - 6,873 Yards

The Waste Management Phoenix Open just wrapped up following four playoff holes which saw Hideki Matsuyama capture his second career win. Matsuyama and Fowler went into the 18th hole tied at -13, both nailed the fairway and both hit the green in regulation. Matsuyama stepped up and sank a 17 footer for Birdie puting the pressure on 3 time PGA Tour winner, Rickie Fowler. Like he has so many times in the past couple years when faced with pressure, he drained it forcing a playoff. The two golfers then went toe to toe matching each other shot for shot for four holes until finally Fowler made a mistake and carded a Bogey on the 17th hole(4th playoff hole). It was another fantastic golf weekend in Arizona with attendance records being broken yet again. We get to do it all over again in about 361 days.

This week the PGA Tour travels to Pebble Beach, California for the annual AT&T Pebble Bach pro Am. This week will be the final PGA Tournament of the year where there will be a multi course rotation. Thank god! At least this week the courses are fairly similar in which the stats carry over from course to course. The courses being used are Pebble Beach golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Club and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. The true test on these courses will be the weather conditions. Scores have ranged over the years from -10 (Shane Lowry - 2008) to -22 (Snedekers win last year). So far the forecast is showing moderate winds for Thursday and Friday with the worst day being Saturday where winds could reach will range from 10-15 mph. You can check out the complete forecast here. Be sure to check the updated forecast prior to lineup lock on Thursday(6:30 am ET).

When looking for specific stats to target this week is somewhat depends on weather. If the wind is up Scrambling will be extremely important, as will putting. As always, the best stat to start with to find your core players should be Strokes Gained:Tee to Green. Both long hitters and course managers can succeed here but I always favor a long hitter. Another very import factor this week will be Par 5 Scoring. When looking at the average score of the golfers finishing in the Top 10 last year (18 Players due to ties) the Par 5 scoring average was -8.5. This is compared to -6 for the Par 4's and -2.5 for the Par 3's. Survive on the Par 3's, don't give it away on the Par 4's, and go low on the Par 5's. Recipe for success here at the Pebble Beach Pro Am.

This weeks tournament has a 54 hole cut on Saturday. It is a great opportunity to go stars and scrubs, taking some risks in the lower tiers as they will get an extra round allowing less time and scoring chances to over take people on the leaderboards on Sunday.

Also wanted to mention a new tournament format on DraftKings this week. They have started a 3 entry limit, $3 GPP with $3,000 first place prize. Jump on board and get your spot as this tournament should fill up fast.

Below are a few of the key stats that will be used on the cheatsheet this week:

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green
    • Total Driving
    • Greens in Regulation
    • Proximity
    • Birdie or Better %
    • Par 4 Scoring Average
    • Par 5 Scoring Average
    • Scrambling
    • Strokes Gained: Putting

     High End Targets ($10,000+)

    Jordan Spieth
    Vegas Odds - 5/1
    Draftkings - $12,300
    Fantasy Feud - $200,000
    Fantasy Aces - $6,500

With the 54 hole cut this week it makes easier to pay up for the top guys. The fact that highest priced golfer this week is Jordan Spieth and it makes it even easier. He has close to a two point lead in the Official World Golf Rankings and will be making his first start on the PGA Tour since winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He is coming off a runner up finish last week at the Singapore Open and a T5 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship the week before. There is a chance he could face fatigue but last time I faded him...well you know the ending. He has finished inside the Top 10 in each of the last two years and will need at least a Top 5 to hit value. Terrific GPP play this week.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 1
    • Total Driving - 167
    • Greens in Regulation - 43
    • Proximity - 58
    • Birdie or Better % - 1
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 1
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 1
    • Scrambling - 2
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 1

    Dustin Johnson
    Vegas Odds - 11/1
    Draftkings - $11,400
    Fantasy Feud - $186,000
    Fantasy Aces - $6,100

A former back to back winner of this event back in 2009 and 2010. He has also finished in the Top 5 in three of last four trips to Pebble Beach. He is a bomber who ranks 25th Tee to Green who murders the Par 5's. He fits the bill and is due for another win(last one at Cadillac Championship March 2015) and if he can clean up the scrambling and putting he could be back it the winners circle as soon as Sunday afternoon.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 22
    • Total Driving - 26
    • Greens in Regulation - 50
    • Proximity - 128
    • Birdie or Better % - 4
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 75
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 16
    • Scrambling - 206
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 179

    Jimmy Walker
    Vegas Odds - 18/1
    Draftkings - $10,700
    Fantasy Feud - $172,000
    Fantasy Aces - $5,700

Another horse for the course this week who makes a great option in any format. He will most likely be one of the highest owned players and for good reason. He has made the cut in each of the last five years here including four straight Top 10's from 2011-2014. One of those Top 10's was his big win here in 2014 which was a part of his magical spring. He is another bomber who can navigate through the wind and is one of the top putters on tour.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 69
    • Total Driving - 143
    • Greens in Regulation - 68
    • Proximity - 148
    • Birdie or Better % - 24
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 41
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 16
    • Scrambling - 107
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 31

    Mid Tier Targets ($7,000 - $9,800)

    Patrick Reed
    Vegas Odds - 33/1
    Draftkings - $9,600
    Fantasy Feud - $130,000
    Fantasy Aces - $6,050

After a streak of tremendous play worldwide, Reed withdrew two weeks ago at the Farmers Insurance Open. The WD drew heavy criticism from Graham DeLaet(article link here) who was left in a two some on the final day at Torrey Pines. I look for Reed to come out flying and get right back in form this week. He has finished inside the Top 30 in each of his three trips to Pebble Beach and hits on a ton of featured stats. He is 16th in Ball Striking, 3rd in Scrambling, 24th in Par 5 Scoring Average and 32nd in Birdie or better Percentage.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 15
    • Total Driving - 16
    • Greens in Regulation - 33
    • Proximity - 168
    • Birdie or Better % - 32
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 18
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 24
    • Scrambling - 3
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 138

    Shane Lowry
    Vegas Odds - 40/1
    Draftkings - $8,900
    Fantasy Feud - $123,000
    Fantasy Aces - $5,250

He is my favorite play in the mid $8K - mid $9K range this week. He ranks 29th in Total Driving, 41st in Proximity and is ranking 15th in Strokes Gained Putting and 15th in Strokes Gained Tee to Green. He finished T21 here last year in his first trip to Pebble Beach and could easily match that this week, especially if the weather gets nasty. He finished his final round at Torrey Pines a few weeks ago with a 73 which ranked Top 5 due to the weather.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 30
    • Total Driving - 29
    • Greens in Regulation - 127
    • Proximity - 41
    • Birdie or Better % - 86
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 179
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 189
    • Scrambling - 200
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 15

    Russell Knox
    Vegas Odds - 66/1
    Draftkings - $8,000
    Fantasy Feud - $116,000
    Fantasy Aces - $5,600

Another player who thrives in the wind and feels he has an advantage when the weather plays a factor. I love the confidence he shows. He is a Top 20 ball striker who leads the tour in GIR and scores any Par 3's, 4's, and 5's. He is a Top 10 scrambler and also ranks Top 40 in Birdie or Better percentage. He did not play here last year but made the cut and finished Top 30 in two of the three years he has played here. He comes with a very fair price making him a great choice in any format this week.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 91
    • Total Driving - 61
    • Greens in Regulation - 1
    • Proximity - 89
    • Birdie or Better % - 38
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 18
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 33
    • Scrambling - 9
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 162

    Also Consider - William McGirt(Cash), Will Wilcox(GPP)

Low End Target (Min Price - $6,900)

    Jim Herman
    Vegas Odds - 20/1
    Draftkings - $6,400
    Fantasy Feud - $48,000
    Fantasy Aces - $4,350

To fit some of the top guys for stars and scrubs this week you are going to need a couple guys below $7K on DraftKings. While Herman comes with some risk, so will every other choice in this range. He is coming off a missed cut at the WM Phoenix Open but before that had made six straight cuts including three Top 20 finishes. He has made the cut here at Pebble in each of the last two years including a Top 30 in 2014. He is a safe low end option in any format.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 107
    • Total Driving - 12
    • Greens in Regulation - 36
    • Proximity - 58
    • Birdie or Better % - 126
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 112
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 59
    • Scrambling - 115
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 195

    Bronson Burgoon
    Vegas Odds - 500/1
    Draftkings - $5,700
    Fantasy Feud - $
    Fantasy Aces - $3,850

Not very often I will dip below $6K on DraftKings but if there was ever a week this is it. The 28 year old PGA Tour rookie had a long wait to get to where he is at today and has started his career making five of his first eight cuts. Not only has he been making cuts he has also picked up Top 25 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship and OHL Classic. At close to minimum price take a shot on Burgoon in GPP formats this week.

    • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 105
    • Total Driving - 106
    • Greens in Regulation - 115
    • Proximity - 73
    • Birdie or Better % - 185
    • Par 4 Scoring Average - 150
    • Par 5 Scoring Average - 150
    • Scrambling - 58
    • Strokes Gained: Putting - 86

    1. So obviously the lineup you are boasting on was on your paid service? It’s not on a LU created from this list above?
