Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 3/7/16

Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

Special Note: Our new optimizer is available! Click the button below to check it out and see if it's right for you.

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. It's a shorter slate and a light news day, but we'll be updating as stuff rolls in. Also throw out some ideas in the comments and we can take it from there.

What We Know

Eric Gordon is out.
He broke his finger early in the last game and will be out for some time (maybe for the rest of the season). The Pelicans have run real bad with injuries this season and this is just another hit. It's tough to know exactly how Alvin Gentry will handle things without Gordon, not because we don't have context on the Pels sans-Gordon, but because Gentry just isn't a consistent guy when it comes to playing time. Last game Jrue Holiday saw a ton of run and if you though he was going to play 37 minutes again then I'd say the dude's about a must start. Even at a conservative 34 minutes he's way up there in terms of points/$ value.

Will Michael Carter-Williams is out?
He's going to miss the rest of the season which is a real bummer. I hate injuries. He's sat out the last four games and in that time Jerryd Bayless has averaged 31 minutes per game and a 12/3/3 line in that time even though he's coming off the bench. Bayless has some upside if the three ball is falling and the run is there. But I'd be concerned about Bayless coming off the bench still and simply not factoring enough in the overall offense at his prices. He's a slightly better on FanDuel where the price hasn't come up much. But it's still risky.

Update: All of Memphis is Out
Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, Matt Barnes and Chris Andersen won't play

This makes Mario Chalmers almost a must play. JaMychal Green is right there with him. Outside of that it's hard to know who really plays. Lance Stephenson and Vince Carter could be in line for big run. Ryan Hollins too. See what I mean? This is a major shake up.

What We're Waiting to Know

Will Norris Cole play?
This one effects Holiday as well too. If Cole were to sit then Jrue is a must play. As it happens, the latter is close to a must as it is. If Cole plays I think he's a decent tournament play.

What We May Never Know

Will the Dallas Mavericks go to overtime again?
It's ridiculous how often this team plays an extra frame. This season they have 11 overtime games to their name accounting for 17% of their total schedule. And it really wreaks havoc on their projected playing time. Not only is it sometimes difficult to parse out projected minutes for a guy because you need to account for the overtimes he's played, it's also hard to know how a coach will handle his guys on a back-to-back following an OT. The Mavs lost yesterday to the Nuggets in overtime and just about all f their starters saw more than average minutes in the thin air of Denver. Stay tuned on this one.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

LeBron James - FD 10100 DK 9600
Opponent - MEM
FD Proj. Pts - 48.05 DK Proj. Pts - 50.04
He's showing up in every lineup on both sites right now and I don't expect that to change. Our system really loves his floor and he's an incredibly safe play most nights even if the ceiling isn't as high as a Boogie or Curry. The big thing with Lebron compared to those other guys is you are getting him for a discount, especially on DraftKings. If he's showing up in every lineup now and with new plays only getting cheaper as the day goes on with injury news, I don't expect it to change at all.

Jrue Holiday - FD 7400 DK 7700
Opponent - SAC
FD Proj. Pts - 36.5 DK Proj. Pts - 38.2
Mentioned him enough already. He's coming up everywhere as of right now and has a fantastic matchup. Probably should have been included in the main picks article.

These are guys that seem to show up in all of the top lineups in our lineup optimizer. Enjoy!

  1. Do you have any cheap options at C for cash games?

  2. MEM sitting their entire team makes it easy to fade LeBron. Don’t see how he plays many minutes in this one with Grizz clearly waiving the white flag.

  3. How does Tony Allen look in his comeback with his team sitting?

    • Rumored to be on minutes restriction. If that’s the case too risky for me.

  4. Jimmy buckets out. Like middleton alot more now.

  5. Center position is a mess. Take a flyer on Duncan or forced to pay up. Would consider Bogut but GS has been known to sit him on back to backs so too risky for my system.

  6. any ideas for a late night team?? any must grabs?

  7. Can’t catch a break. Up near 300 with Klay and Vuc in the late game and Orlando goes and straight up random late scratches Vuc… blerg…

  8. the money line in my cash games is 357 30 points higher than the tourney cut off. Im at 371 this is getting insane.

  9. Peter, agree. Just so many punt plays that are paying such high multipliers. Green for MEM paid almost 13x tonight. Just seems like so many people are paying up for a guy or two and then nailing punt plays around those big guns. The guys who took Green, Davis and Cousins tonight were already at almost 170fp with 6 other guys in the lineup. 5x and 300 was good for cash game not too long ago. We’ve crept up to 5.5x and 6x for cash games. Winning a GPP these days has been 7x some days. Crazy

  10. Had a team on FD that put up 355 FP, had a player that went over 70 points, another player that went 13x and 3 others that put up over 46FP, and didn’t end up in the money. I did some playing around with players from the top lineups, and you could have put together a FD lineup that scored over 500 FP if you hit all of the right guys. Crazy!

  11. Fanduel
    Norris Cole – 5100 – 45.4
    Chalmers – 5000 – 37.3
    Lance Stevenson – 3900 – 30.9
    Tony Allen – 4100 – 44.4
    V carter – 3500 – 26.3
    Dunleavy – 3800 – 24.8
    J Parker – 6000 – 36.7
    J Green – 3700 – 48
    Gausol – 9200 – 62.9
356FP at 44,300 of 60,000 salary cap, fill in the gaps.
