Quarterback

Kevin Glenn Montreal 7200

Ok here is the deal. When I first glanced at the QB salaries on Draftkings for the week, everything seemed fairly normal until I said to myself, What? Where is Kevin Glenn? He is facing the league's worst defence this week, and there I found him at this incredibly low salary. He is priced at 3,400 less than another QB who I like this week who I will mention shortly. Talk about a championship hangover happening for the Edmonton Eskimos. Like seriously, they win the Grey Cup last year and then they jog out this defence week after week? Craziness I'm telling you folks. Glenn isn't flashy by any means, and he's old, but he's averaging 17.6 dk points per game which isn't terrible, and he still has enough left in the tank to make some noise this season. Montreal's Offence isn't great by any means, but the Eskimos have given up a league worst 353.3 passing yards per game. Ouch. Glenn has threw for an average of 281.2 yards per game and has a completion % of 71.8 which is well above the league average this season. I don't need to go any further. At this price we can surround him with high end players and feel great about it. His floor is high and according to Vegas odds, his team is a 7 point underdog with a total at 54.5 because of the Eskimos' explosive offence. If Edmonton scores a couple of early TD's then he could be in line for a monster game.  He is my favourite QB this week in cash games and tournaments, and it's not really that close. He will almost definitely be low owned because of most people's lack of knowledge of the Canadian Football League. But don't you worry. Start him with confidence.

Bo-Levi Mitchell Calgary 10,600

For some reason you don't feel like Glenn is your man at QB this week, and you can find a few bargains at other positions, then feel free to go with this guy. The Stampeders are on the back end of a home and home series versus the Rough-Riders this week. Mitchell did not do anything spectacular last week  as his team won fairly comfortably and it was good for 19.7 dk points. He is about as steady as they come for a QB in the CFL. He spreads the ball around a lot and does what he has to do to move the chains. I don't love his upside this week as I believe that his team will get ahead early and then use their powerful running game over and over again to punish the Riders. Bo-Levi has thrown for an average of 316 passing yards per game to along with 12 TD's versus only 3 interceptions which is not too shabby. Calgary's offence can be explosive, and if somehow Saskatchewan can keep this game close, then he could put up some huge numbers this week. Vegas actually thinks that this game has a chance of staying fairly close as they recently posted the Stamps as only a 5.5 favourite with a total of 54.5. I'm not buying it because the Rough-Riders are simply a bad football team. Mitchell is a secondary cash game only choice for me in Week 8.

Running Back

Jerome Messam Calgary 7,500

This guy is a beast and is actually one of the main reasons why I don't love his QB this week. I have told you many times that I do not like the running back position in the CFL, but Messam is a huge exception. First of all he exploded last week versus his former team for 28.5 dk points which is unreal for a CFL running back. He hammered the ball 17 times for 109 yards and a touchdown to go along with 5 receptions for 36 yards. Receptions count for points in the CFL also which is awesome. I may sound crazy but I think he may be able to surpass his totals from last week. The Stamps lead the league in rushing with an average of 101.2 yards per game which is very high from a CFL standpoint, and Messam has an average of 67.3 yards per game on the ground, and has been targeted in the passing game more than ever this year with his new team. Like I said before, Saskatchewan is simply a bad football team. They have allowed 98.2 rushing yards per game which is 2nd worst in the league. This guy is on fire and he is by far my top choice this week in every single format. Lock him and load him folks.

Stefan Logan Montreal 4100

This is going to be short and sweet. I am listing a 2nd running back because we need to fill two flex spots to complete our lineups, and like I've mentioned before, I usually fill those spots with receivers but Logan is one of the rare running backs who returns punts and kicks for his team. Return yards count as points on draftkings in the CFL. Logan already has 737 return yards in 6 games and has an average of 7.1 dk points per game. Hey every point adds up right? He also plays the odd offensive snap which could give him a few running yards and a reception here and there, and although he hasn't had a return for a touchdown yet this year, I believe he is due any game now because of his blazing speed and exceptional field awareness. If you need a cheaper option for one of your flex spots this week then Logan is your man. Moving on

Wide Receiver

Duron Carter Montreal 9400

What did I say about Edmonton's Defence again? Oh yes I remember. They are terrible. Carter is a human machine on the football field. Since his team has finally figured out that he is by far the best player on the team, he has excelled in a huge way. He has hauled in 35 passes for 536 yards to go along with 3 Td's, and has an average of 89,3 reception yards per game. His worst game by far was an 8 point dk performance 4 games ago, but since then he has been on a tear with 25.5 dk points per game, and him and Kevin Glenn have found great chemistry together. Like I said above, the Eskimos have the worst pass defence by far, and this game could turn into a shootout early on. Duron the human machine is going to be in every lineup for me this week in every single format.

Adarius Bowman Edmonton 10,600

Here is what happens when you find value at the QB and Flex positions. We can fit Carter and Bowman into our lineups and feel very confident with our entire roster. Bowman leads the league in many receiving categories this season and besides one bad game, he has shown a very high floor with a ton of upside. 47 receptions for 687 yards for an average of 113.7 receving yards through 6 games? Say what? And throw 4 Td's on top of that and I think a must play is in order here in all formats. He is Edmonton's top WR on the most explosive offence, which seems like its always bailing out the Eskimos' awful defence means that this equals fantasy gold. Oh yeah and he averages 25.1 dk points per game. Enough said. Bombs away. Get him on your rosters.

Kenny Shaw Toronto 6300

Glancing down at the WR salaries on dk this guy jumped out at me instantly. 6300 for a team's #1 WR who is seeing a crazy amout of targets every game? I'm all in baby. He is going to fit in perfectly as a flex option to go with my two stud receivers that I mentioned above. Because of a few of his fellow Argo wideouts being injured, he is getting a lot of love right now. Toronto's stud QB Ricky Ray went down with an injury, and since Rookie pivot Logan Kilgore took over, Shaw's numbers have exploded over the last two weeks. He has 26 dk points in each of his last two games and this week he is facing a Blue Bombers Pass Defence who even though has improved lately, is still 2nd worst by allowing 338.9 passing yards per game. Fire little Kenny up everywhere.

Defense

British Columbia 5100

This pick is just a gut feeling. Defence is usually a crapshoot in the CFL because of the higher point totals. Winnipeg's average Defence made Hamilton look awful last week, and BC's D is 2nd best in the CFL in total yards allowed with 356.7. I think they could have a huge game game here.

  1. would be nice to get a few more options listed here. With Montreal-Edmonton game being on Thurs night, doesn’t leave much to choose from for the Fri-Sat DK slate. Thanks!

  2. Ya sorry I will give more options next week for sure man. Thur games suck but next week I promise there will be more picks. Check this section later today I’ll put a few more picks on that I like for the 3 game slate. That sucked with Glenn but bowman had a monster game last night and is low owned in most of my games. Stay tuned

  3. Ok here at two plays for tonight that I believe need to be in your lineups for the 3 game dk slate. I like the games tomorrow much better from a dfs standpoint. Today’s game should be fairly low scoring but I really like as I mentioned Shaw WR 6300
And another one I rally like is Thomas mayo WR for the blue bombers. Wide receivers are falling like crab apples in Toronto and the bombers signed Clarence Denmark off the street who did very well last week but so did Mayo, and teams still don’t know who he is so at this price 5000, hrs a must play in every format for the 3 game dk slate. I’ll be on later this afternoon with my favourite picks for tomorrow’s two games which will make up a large majority of your lineups

  4. It’s been a little rough so far everyone. I’m winning about half head to heads and hanging around the money in most cash games but most people have more players left to play yet. I just want everyone to know that I’ve been doing pretty well besides this week so far and that I put my money where my mouth is. All of these picks I suggested were in all of my cash game lineups, it’s just gpp’s that I go against the grain a bit. I’m actually going to play the 2 game slate tomorrow night on Draftkings. I feel confident in the two games tomorrow. I am studying the stats and games now and I will post a mini article in this comment section by tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for reading and hang in there. It will get better. A few players were way higher owned than should have been but got a bit lucky. It’s all part of DFS and sports.

  5. Hi everyone. I like this 2 game slate double header tonight. Mitchell looks like the chalk play at QB for cash but Jennings is a good play also. Both top WRs McDaniel and Arcenault are my favs and Messam at RB. D is a crap shoot and find a kick/punt returner for value at flex. Gpps I like QB durant and
WR Roosevelt for sask . Good luck
