Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers for FanDuel & DraftKings 8/27/16

Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article but here we will look at other dudes to consider.

In case you didn’t notice, on Saturday we released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Using tools like these for the NFL season is crucial and you can grab a free 2 WEEK trial to test out yourself.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Noah Syndergaard and Jameson Taillon in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.

Pitching Targets

Marcus StromanMarcus Stroman FD 8200 DK 9100
Opponent - MIN (Santana) Park - @TOR
FD - 33.81 DK - 21.99

In the early slate, our projection system really likes, Marcus Stroman. And frankly, I can't blame it. He's an absolute beast!

Yes he owns a 4.47 ERA, but his peripherals are stunning. What if I told you he owns a 3.33 xFIP and that put him ahead of Kluber, Lester, Scherzer, Sale and many more studs! He has the 5th best xFIP in the league! If that doesn't impress you, maybe his 3.50 SIERA will (10th in MLB). If you're still not impressed, I'm not sure what to tell you, but this kid is good. Just ignore his ERA and just look at his other numbers.

Not only has he been a beast, but he also draws a favorable matchup against the Twins. I know this offense is very streaky, but they are currently on a [cold] streak, so jump on the Stroman train! They own a .293 wOBA and 80 wRC+ (both 28th in MLB) in their last 14 contests. Stroman has been great this season and the Twins are cold, which is why I'll go with him on this small slate.

Dallas Keuchel

Dallas Keuchel FD 8700 DK 9200
Opponent - TB (Snell) Park - @HOU
FD - 36.97 DK - 23.39

Wait -- is Keuchel pitching at home? Yes he is! So get him in your lineups.

Since 2015, Keuchel owns a 2.27 ERA along with a 2.53 xFIP, when pitching at Minute Maid Park. I'm not sure if it's the fans, the rubber, or the fact that he's able to drink some Minute Maid before the game. Whatever the case may be, he's dominant at home, which is one reason why I'll go ahead and use him.

The other reason why I like him today is because he'll be going up against the Rays. On the year, the Rays own a .309 wOBA (23rd in MLB) along with a 26.0 K% (highest in MLB) against southpaws. Not only his Keuchel and his beard pitching at home, but he also gets a matchup that gives him major upside. Keuchel might not be that highly owned today, which is why he's an excellent guy to roster in all formats.

Carlos CarrascoCarlos Carrasco FD 10400 DK 11200
Opponent - TEX (Griffin) Park - @TEX
FD - 31.49 DK - 20.74

You might think I'm crazy going with Carrasco against the Rangers, but there is a theory to my madness. Yes he's expensive and will be going up against the top offenses in the league, but he's still my favorite GPP play of the day.

To start off, the Rangers have been colder than my ice cream. In their last 14 games, they own a .287 wOBA and 87 wRC+, which both rank 29th in the league. I know they have one of the more prolific offenses in the game, but they are cold. So I'll be picking on them today, especially with a stud on the mound.

Yes, I called Carrasco a stud, because that's what he is. He owns a 3.12 ERA on the year to go along with a 1.06 WHIP. He's been excellent this season for the Indians, so go ahead and roster him against this cold offense. And the best part is, he has some nice upside, as he owns a 25.1 K% on the year.

  1. Never pick on Rangers offense. Pitchers sometimes. They have the ability to blow up, and it is overdue. I will have a Texas stacked line-up today.

  2. Texes ….. what about the giants

    • The Giants suck…I had the Folzy and all the wrong Reds, because I had too much money to spend.
