Daily Fantasy Football Correlation Plays for FanDuel and DraftKings - Week 7  10/23/16

These are a combination of players that when performing, will complement each other. For example, a team that is behind will be forced to pass more, while the team that is ahead will run more. That makes the WR1 on the behind team and the RB1 on the ahead team correlative. There is a higher chance that they will perform well if the other does as well. Let's get into my favorite combos of the week!

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Correlation Plays

Blake Bortles, Allen Robinson & Michael Crabtree

We are going to start off with a trio that consists of all very high upside guys, though they have a decent floor in this match up as well. Bortles and Robinson are my favorite QB-WR combo on the week, especially when you consider the price. The Raiders have been the absolute worst team in the league against the pass ith 312 yards allowed per game on average. While Bortles and Robinson have not been on the same page this year, i think they get back on track with a huge perfroamce in this one. Robinson is the main target in the red zone and is likely safe for at least 1 TD. On the other side of things, we have Michael Crabtree. I was close to sliding Amari Cooper in here, but the match up with Jalen Ramsey is far worse than the match up Crabtree has with Davon House. House has been atrocious on the year and has not held a WR under 80 yards. This game will have a lot of passing and this trio of guys is one that I will have a ton of.

DeMarco Murray & Titans D/ST

Everyone is going to be paying down at RB. We have Mike Gillislee and Jacquizz Rodgers in fantastic spots, and they are cheap enough to let you have stars around them. That being said, there is merit in paying up to be contrarian. Murray is a lot more talented then those cheap guys and if given the opportunity, has a lot more upside. He enters this game with the Colts as the 4th highest yardage leader i the league, and will look to move up against the worst rush defense in the league. Remember what Lamar Miller did to the Colts? Well,he destroyed them, and Murray is probably going to do the same. He has played 95% of the snaps in 2 of the last 3 weeks, so it looks like the Derrick Henry experiment is over for this year. With a good game on the ground, comes defensive success. The Colts will be pushed back into there own territory, where Andrew Luck is more prone to turn the ball over. The Colts have given up the most sacks in the league, and the Titans are coming off back to back games where they recorded 6 sacks. This tandem is one that has a lot of merit in tournaments, and I don't mind the use in cash games.

Alex Smith, Travis Kelce & Jeremy Maclin

Trust me, I know that Alex Smith is boring. So is Jeremy Maclin, I get it. However, we don't really care if they are exciting to watch. We are worried about fantasy production and against the Saints, that is almost guaranteed. The Saints defense is atrocious as they are below average on every single layer of there defense from the line to the safeties. The have given up 301 yards per game through the air, which ranks as 2nd worst behind only the Raiders. To be clear, this is a tournament trio and I would not touch all of these guys in 1 lineup in a cash game. There is a chance that the Chiefs lean on there running game and if that is the case, this trio could struggle. However, if the Chiefs attack through the air, these guys will go off. Maclin and Kelce have been the clear go to guys. At home Kelce has caught 6 passes each game and accounted for more than 10 targets in 1. The Saints are a porous defense and I see all 3 of these guys having a big game if the game script goes correctly. They will likely be under owned and I absolutely love the play in a large field tournaments.

Le'Veon Bell, Tom Brady, James White & Rob Gronkowski

With this suggestion, it appears that I am expecting a game script that includes the Patriots behind behind. No, I don't expect that. I expect the Patriots to win pretty handedly here, but I am very confident that Le'Veon Bell will get his too. With Ben Roethlisberger out, Tomlin and the Steelers will rely on Bell to do everything. He will get a ton of caries and will likely catch over 5 balls in this one. The other side of the ball doesn't need to be explained too much. The Steelers offense is falling apart at the seams, and the defense is doing the same. Ahead of only the Raiders and Saints, the Steelers have given up the 2rd most passing yards per game at 293. They are going into Gillette, which is a hostile environment for a defense. Brady will be able to decide who goes off this week and I expect him to get Gronk involved heavily. James White will also have a big game here as he has been getting the ball a ton. Brady trusts him out of the backfield and the Steelers have given up the 6th most receiving yards from RB's. I love this stack across the board, and can't see a reason not to employ it in any format.

  1. Amukamara, not House, will cover Crabtree.

  2. The game is not in Gillette, does that change your correlation, or just change your write up?
