Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 2/25/17

Welcome to another wacky Saturday in DFS hockey. There are eight total games today including a matinee game at 4:00 ET between the Ducks and Kings. Neither site is running an All Day slate but both are offering four-game early slates. The big difference is that DraftKings is also running a seven-game main slate that while FanDuel has a four-game main slate. I guess they are just trying to accommodate as many people as possible. Awwww that's nice of them. Let's look at some picks.

Matthew Murray FD - $9300 DK - $8200
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 19.92 DK - 4.98

One of the highest projected goalies in our system today. He isn't confirmed yet but is clearly the Pens #1 option and should get the opportunity in this huge Stadium Series, outdoor game at Heinz Field. He has been on top of his game since the ASB going 5-1-2 with an elite .940 save % with one shutout. The matchup is also ideal as the struggling Flyers come to town with their 23rd ranked offense.

CENTERS

*Note: Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are elite plays tonight in the Stadium Series game vs. the Flyers but come at a high cost. I will dig a little deeper for value today.*

 

Jack Eichel FD - $7300 DK - $7300
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 15.53 DK - 5.11

Take the discount off the Pens elite centers and roll with Eichel who gets the top matchup of the night. The Sabres travel to Colorado to face the bottom-feeding Avs who rank dead last in both offense and defense. It's good news for a team that has struggled overall this season ranking 24th in the league. Eichel has been their best player despite missing a few games and with 12 points over his last 10 games has brought his season total up to 33 points in 39 games. The best part is his elite shot volume as he has tallied 37 shots on goal in those 10 games.

Stack with: Evander Kane, Kyle Okposo(PP)

 
Nazem Kadri FD - $6900 DK - $6300
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 13.62 DK - 4.22

The matchup for Kadri doesn't appear that great but if you have been paying attention you would see the Habs have really struggled in February. They have lost eight of 10 games and have allowed three or more goals eight times. Jump on Kadri in the mid-tier who comes with a safe floor with his shot volume(36 shots last 10 games) and offers nice upside, averaging a point per game over the last few weeks.

Alexander Wennberg FD - $5400 DK - $5500
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 10.07 DK - 3.1

Wennberg should never be trusted in cash games as he just doesn't take many shots but makes a lower owned option at the position with upside. He can go on prolonged droughts but can also rack up muli-point games like he has lately with two in his last three games. Overall, he has already set a new career high with 48 points through 58 games this season after only recording 40 in 69 games last year.

Stack with: Brandon Saad, Oliver Bjorkstrand

 

 

WINGERS

Patric Hornqvist FD - $6800 DK - $6500
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 12.68 DK - 4.1

If you are looking to go more of a balanced route and still want exposure to the Penguins get Hornqvist into your lineups tonight. He is now back on the top line with Sid the Kid and continues to provide elite shot volume, averaging close to 3.5 shots on goal per game. Last time out vs. the Flyers he tallied five shots on goal and picked up two assists in a 5-4 Pens win. If you are looking for a stack to build aroudn add Crosby and Kunitz and ine for some value at defense and with a winger spot.

Boone Jenner FD - $4600 DK - $4800
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 10.29 DK - 3.1

I love the Blue Jackets and their Top 5 offense tonight. They should come a little bit lower owned as they have been very inconsistent lately but still offer big upside. Jenner also offers a high floor as he has recorded 36 shots on goal over his last 10 games while adding eight blocks and five points. They will look to cool down the Islanders who have won three straight and four of their last five games. It really doesn't matter who wins, from a DFS perspective, as long as there are points to go around which is a real possibility as the Isles still rank in the bottom 10 in defense.

Stack with: Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky

 

 

 

DEFENSEMEN
Ryan McDonagh FD - $5500 DK - $5500
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 11.02 DK - 3.44

The Rangers McDonagh continues to rank very high in our PTS/$ ranking as his price still sits in the mid $5K range on both sites. He doesn't provide elite offensive numbers(34 points in 61 games) but does provide a very balanced arsenal of shots and blocks. He is also averaging a point per game against the Devils this season. Lock him into your #1 spot on defense.

 
Ian Cole FD - $3900 DK - $3700
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 9.27 DK - 2.68

For those who expected Provorov to show up in this spot as usual, I am ok and not on some weird medication. I still think Provorov is a great high floor play but I will take the home team and the big discount on today's slate. Cole doesn't offer much in terms of offense but is an elite shot blocker with  32 in his last 10 games and 148 on the season. At a price under $4K on both sites, he is a great punt play in all formats that helps you get to the top players on the slate.
