Daily Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 3 - 9/24/17

We already covered Antonio Brown, Keenan Allen, Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins in our main picks article article. For this article we’ll cover some more cash game considerations as well as some tournament targets.

There's quite a bit to like about the wide receivers on this slate of games. Some potentially under-owned/ high volume plays could end up hitting the top of GPPS. Let's take a look.

Let's use some filters on Player Lab to see how certain game type, opponents and projected usage can help single out some possibly under-owned players.

Both of these guys are in interesting spots this week. Their teas enter the game as home underdogs and both are coming off weeks that saw their targets drip dramatically from Week 1. Tate had a reason for it as the Lions were blowing the doors off the Giants and simply didn't need to pass at all late in the game. Look for a bounce back game from a guy who saw 12 targets in Week 1 (10/107) and had 7 double digit target games in 2016 (all of them coming after Week 5,  he averaged 9.5 targets per game after that point). He's an elite target/ possession receiver and will likely come barely owned this week with some of the other names in his price range. He strikes me as a near perfect GPP play on both sites with the added bonus on DK for the PPR scoring.

Meanwhile, Pryor is of course a bit more speculative. We saw 11 targets in Week 1 (finishing with a 6/66 and dropping a TD pass) but was all but absent in Week 2 with only 4 targets and a 2/31. But the Redskins relied heavily on the run against the Rams (39/27) and had little use for going downfield. In a matchup against the Raiders with the highest implied over/under on the week, we could see a breakout game for Pryor. Like Tate, he will likely have very low ownership and we have seen the Redskins force the issue with him downfield. I will have exposure to both of these guys in GPPs.

Michael ThomasMichael Thomas FD 7500 DK 7000
Opponent CAR

I probably could have included him in the cash game article but he just missed the cut there. He's been Drew Brees' favorite to start the season, and through the first two weeks ranked 7th in total WR targets. He takes on a Carolina team who've looked decent on defense in the first two weeks though admittedly they've run up against San Fran and Buffalo to start the season. Forgive me if I'm not drilling completely down on their defensive metrics quite yet. This is their first real pocket-passing quarterback and WR1 type on the season. Thomas is coming just below the top tier in terms of pricing and I think we are looking at a solid value play with GPP upside. They've targeted him down and close already this year and he should continue to be the primary red zone option.

Eric DeckerEric Decker FD 5900 DK 4000
Opponent SEA
Proj Points FD - 11.62 DK - 13.75
Rishard MatthewsRishard Matthews FD 6200 DK 4200
Opponent SEA
Proj Points FD - 12.08 DK - 14.39
Corey Davis has been ruled out of Week 3 and that could leave a fair amount of targets on the table for the Tennessee receivers. It's not an ideal matchup against this Seattle defense but both Decker and Matthews are coming cheap, especially on DraftKings. Davis had 13 targets through the first two weeks and honestly not much can be gleaned from Week 2 when the Titans had the game firmly in hand and didn't need to pass much in the second half. That doesn't stand to be the case this week against Seattle with Tennessee a -3 favorite over the Seahawks at home. Seattle is tough against the run which could force the Titans even more to the air. In PPR formats, both of these guys are values in the $4K range if the looks trend to 14-16 between the two. That might be asking a lot but the prices at least deserve solid consideration.

With Jacoby Brissett under center it's tough to get all that excited about anyone in the Colts' passing game. But they did throw 37 times last week against Arizona and may be in a similar situation this week against the Browns depending on the game script. Doyle and Moncrief (along with Kamar Aiken) led the team in targets. Now of course, as we always say, all targets aren't created equally. And getting 9 targets from Brissett isn't the same as getting them from Matt Ryan, but volume at these prices does matter. Both are coming cheap on DraftKings for what could amount to 20% target share and in PPR the conversion rate can be on the low side and dudes' still hit value. I actually don't mind the Indy passing game as a low end GPP stack this weekend.
