Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 10/10/17

Welcome back for another night of daily fantasy hockey. The first week of the NHL will conclude tonight and it has been an exciting one, to say the least. The scoring has been up so far and we have already witnessed six hat tricks including two from superstar Alex Ovechkin who did it in back to back games to open the season. It will be hard to top that action but tonight's seven-game slate gives s some hope. Let's jump in and take a look at the top picks for tonight.

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIE

Ben BishopBen Bishop FD - $8700 DK - $8300
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 18.27 DK - 4.57

The Stars had a scare in the first game of the season as Bishop was hit in the mask with a puck and suffered a concussion. He ended up only missing one game, making it through the concussion protocol flawlessly, and is expected to be back in between the pipes tonight at home. It is a tough night for goalies and Bishop and the Stars are currently the biggest favorites at -160 over the Red Wings. Roll him out in all formats tonight.

Marc-Andre FleuryMarc-Andre Fleury FD - $8100 DK - $7800
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 16.63 DK - 4.16

I am not sure anyone saw the expansion Vegas Golden Knights starting the season off undefeated but here we are. If there is one player who has been the key thus far it would be netminder Marc-Ande Fleury. He opened the season stopping 46 shots in a 1-0 win over the Stars and then backed it up with a 28 save performance in a 1-0 win over the Coyotes. Even more impressive is the fact he did so on the road and tonight he will get a chance to showcase that talent at home in the first ever NHL game in Las Vegas. The game is a pick'em according to the odds but Fleury should continue to roll and is a great option in all formats.

Also Consider: Sergei Bobrovsky(CBJ)

CENTERS

Tyler SeguinTyler Seguin FD - $8100 DK - $7000
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 15.43 DK - 4.55

The Stars are one of the teams that have gotten off to a slow start but Tyler Seguin is still an elite choice at the top of the center position for daily fantasy. He scored in their opening night loss to the Vegas Golden Knights and while that was his only point through two games, he has recorded a whopping 19 shots on over 20 minutes of ice-time per game. That shot volume is more than enough for me to place him as my top center in all formats tonight.

Stack with: Jamie Benn, Alexander Radulov

Dylan LarkinDylan Larkin FD - $5100 DK - $4700
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 9.56 DK - 2.76

Don't mistake age for experience as 21-year-old Dylan Larkin is going into his third season in the show and will be looking to build off 45 and 32 point seasons to start his career. He is off to a great start through two games as he has recorded a point in each helping the Red Wings to a 2-0 start. He has also proven to be a volume player as well with eight shots after averaging around 2.5 per game over his first two seasons. He provides excellent value skating on the second line and powerplay unit and is also a safe choice in all formats tonight vs. a Stars team that has given up six goals this season.

Stack with: Anthony Mantha, Martin Frk

Also Consider: Mika Zibanejad

WINGERS

James NealJames Neal FD - $6800 DK - $5600
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 12.72 DK - 3.73

After somewhat staying out of the spotlight over the last three years with the Predators, James Neal has moved on and is now a key player for the expansion Vegas Golden Knights. They are a team building the future no doubt so it is very likely he will be a trade candidate come the deadline and that is even more incentive to come out of the gate hot to try and get back on a Stanley Cup contender. He is off to a solid start with three goals in his first two games while recording four shots in each. He is in play in all formats, especially on DraftKings where he sits in the mid $5K range.

Stack with: David Perron, Cody Eakin

Cam AtkinsonCam Atkinson FD - $6700 DK - $6600
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 12.94 DK - 3.77

Atkinson has only ever played for one organization throughout his career after the Blue Jackets drafted him out of Boston College back in 2008. It took him some time to develop and make it in the show as a full-time player and he has continued to improve each year. He was key last year helping the team get to just its third playoff appearance and recorded a career 62 points with a +13 while playing all 82 games. He back on the top line in 2017/18 and while he has just one point, has tallied seven shots and will continue to get opportunities on the top powerplay unit. I prefer James Neal for cash games tonight but Atkinson makes a high upside GPP play and should be lower owned in the mid $6K range on both sites.

Stack with: Alexander Wennberg, Artemi Panarin

Jordan WealJordan Weal FD - $3300 DK - $4100
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 8.94 DK - 2.52

Looking at the value range, I will continue to roll with Weal who is skating on the Flyers second line with the red-hot Wayne Simmonds and is also getting time on the powerplay unit. He has recorded a point in two of his first three games and has provided some safety with eight shots as well. DraftKings has started to make the shift as his price is now in the low $4K range but his FanDuel price has not budged. I will be using him in all formats tonight as the Flyers look to close out their grueling four-game road trip to start the season.

Stack with: Wayne Simmonds, Nolan Patrick

DEFENSEMEN

Alex PietrangeloAlex Pietrangelo FD - $5800 DK - $6100
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 11.71 DK - 3.53

It's an easy choice tonight if you are paying up for one of your defensemen. Pietrangelo has done it all for the Blues early in the 2017/18 season with at least one point in all three games while tallying 16 shots and six blocks to give him a high floor and ceiling. He also leads all players in the league in ice-time averaging just over 27 minutes per game. He gets a tougher matchup having to go on the road to New York to face King Henrik and the Rangers but he is still a top play in all formats.

David SavardDavid Savard FD - $3700 DK - $3300
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 6.33 DK - 1.85

As long as the sites keep the same guys in the value range, I will continue to talk about them over and over this season. One of those players on the point is David Savard of the Blue Jackets. He has yet to record a point through two games but has provided enough value(for the price) by tallying seven shots and seven blocks while skating on the second unit and is also getting powerplay time. We arent getting much upside here but the salary relief is more than enough to roster him in all formats.

Also Consider: Ivan Provorov(PHI), Joel Edmundson(STL)
