Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 10 - 9/12/17

Welcome back to another exciting week of daily fantasy football. I am going to start out again this week with some key injury and suspension news that will undoubtedly affect our lineup construction. It starts with the Ezekiel Elliott saga and I won't get into details but really all you need to know is that the suspension is back on so we won't see him on the field this weekend. When will he back? You guess is as good as mine. Next up, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without arguably their top two offensive weapons as Mike Evans has been suspended one game after his altercation with Marshon Lattimore, and Jameis Winston will be out at least two weeks with multiple injuries.

The Falcons are another team with injuries to key players as Devonta Freeman(knee) was limited early in the week but he is likely to play but Tevin Coleman could see some extra carries. Julio Jones(ankle) was a DNP on both Wednesday and Thursday but returned to practice Friday. This just adds to the risk of stacking the Falcons as they have underperformed week in and week out.

One team I will be avoiding in my stacks this week will be the Broncos as both of their top wideouts are dealing with injuries. Emmanuel Sanders returned to the lineup last week but was clearly not 100% and although he was a full participant this week, I still don't trust he is back to full health and then add in the fact Brock Osweiler is his quarterback. Demaryius Thomas was limited in practice this week with a hammy but is expected to be on the field in the big Sunday night matchup vs. the Patriots. Speaking of the Patriots, Chris Hogan(shoulder) is almost a lock to sit out once again this week while Danny Amendola is still dealing with a knee injury but is expected to play Sunday night. He and Brandin Cooks could see a boost in targets this week and don't forget about James White out of the backfield as he sits second among running backs in targets per game(6.6).

A few other injury status's to monitor as Sunday approaches are:

  • Michael Thomas(NO) - Was limited Thursday with an ankle injury
  • Matt Forte(NYJ) - Has sat out of practice all week with a knee injury and is very unlikely to play Sunday
  • Dez Bryant(DAL) - Hasn't practiced all week but is likely to return on Friday. Dealing with multiple injuries(knee, ankle) but says is will be on the field Sunday which is good news for the Cowboys who are now without Ezekiel Elliot for some time
  • Delanie Walker(TEN) - Sat out Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury but returned to a limited practice on Friday. He is questionable but played through the injury last week
  • Jordan Reed(WSH) & Jamison Crowder(WSH) - Both players returned to practice on Thursday but remain questionable going into Sunday's game with the Vikings

Let's now jump in and take a look at some of the top stacking options for GPP formats for Week 10.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Quarterback - Ben Roethlisberger
Primary Target - Antonio Brown
Secondary Target - JuJu Smith-Schuster

I get it. Big Ben is not the gunslinger of old as he currently sits with his lowest completion rate(61%) and touchdown percentage(3.6%)since the 2008 season but all signs point to a big game from the entire Steelers offense this week. They currently sit as 10.5 point favorites over the Colts who are now without cornerback Vontae Davis who they placed on waivers earlier this week. Even with Davis in the lineup, the Colts ranked 31st in passing yards per game allowed(279.7), 25th in DVOA vs. the pass, and rank 27th vs. quarterbacks and 26th vs. wideouts when looking at fantasy points per game allowed. There are a couple ways you can construct a Steelers stack this week and it all depends on what you plan to do at the running back position. The highest upside play is to get Antonio Brown into your lineups but to do so you will have to go value at not only both running back spots but most likely find a punt to put in one of your other wideout spots or flex position. High risk, high reward. The other option I am looking at this week is pairing Roethlisberger with JuJu-Smith Schuster who operates out of the slot and will likely see a ton of Pierre Desir who ranks out as one of the worst corners(102 out of 116) when looking at the PFF rankings. Smith-Schuster has not only scored in back to back games but is coming off a monster performance vs. the Lions before the bye where he tallied 193 yards receiving.

New York Jets

Quarterback - Josh McCown
Primary Target - Robbie Anderson

I never in a million years thought I would be recommending the Jets for a stacks article but here we are, Week 10 of this weird and wacky 2017 NFL season. Even after McCown threw up a dud last week, he is still the most tagged quarterback on FanShareSports and is likely going to be the chalk this week with his value price tag.

It really comes down to the matchup vs. the Bucs who rank 30th in passing yards allowed(272.4 per game), 31st in DVOA vs. the pass, and when looking at fantasy points per game allowed, rank 27th against quarterbacks and  31st against wideouts. It also helps that McCown has been one of the more accurate passers in the league this year with the second-best completion percentage(70.4%) and he also ranks inside the top 10 when looking at touchdown passes with 13. I will be pairing McCown with Robbie Anderson who has come on strong lately with a touchdown reception in three straight games while topping 75 yards in two of his last four. The combination won't cost you much of your salary cap(23% on DK, 25% on FD) allowing you to spend up in other spots in your lineup.

Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback - Dak Prescott
Primary Target - Terrance Williams

With the news that Ezekiel Elliott will finally face his suspension, I think the Cowboys will turn to the passing game a little bit more this week making them an excellent stacking option in tournaments. The bookies don't seem to be too bothered by Zeke's absence either as this game vs. the Falcons has the highest total of the week(48). I don't think the Cowboys go completely away from the run game as they have a great offensive line but eventually the Falcons offense will score some points again putting pressure on Dak Prescott. He hasn't topped 300 yards once this season but hasn't needed to as Zeke has proved to be one of the top running backs. I won't be off Dez Bryant completely this week but my exposure will be small as he is dealing with multiple injuries. Instead, I will turn to Terrance Williams who seems to have earned the trust of Dak as he caught all nine of his targets last week for 141 yards. Dak also doesn't need to go for 300+ yards to hit value as he also adds huge value with his legs and has already rushed for 194 yards and is tied with Cam Newton among quarterbacks with four rushing touchdowns.
