Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 11/24/17
Hello my fellow hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action here at DFSR. After a day off due to American Thanksgiving yesterday, we have a massive 14-game slate today with multiple slates on both sites. I can't wait to watch all of the action tomorrow but first, let's take a look at some of my favorite picks.
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. The goalie position is tough for the early slate today, as we have some poor goalies, as well as some good goalies in very tough matchups. Enter Dubnyk who falls into the latter category as Colorado is ranked 6th offensively while scoring 3.40 goals per game. The veteran tender has allowed 12 goals in his last three games, but Minnesota's offense has been on fire lately and he had an amazing three shutouts in a row previously, which gives him a 6-0-1 record in his last seven games. Dubnyk has been notoriously better on home-ice in his career and he is my top goalie in all formats for the early slate.
Also Consider: Martin Jones (SJ) GPP formats only.
I thought there was no way that anyone could slow the flames down until two nights ago when goalie Bob slammed the door on them while surrendering only a single goal. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner has now won his last five starts with a stifling 0.79 GAA and two shutouts. The Senators have scored only three goals in their last three games and Bobvrovsky leads the league with a 2.02 GAA and a .933 save %. The Russian sensation is an elite play in all formats for the evening slate and is also the top choice for the all-day slate on FanDuel.
Also Consider: Henrik Lundqvist (NYR) GPP formats only.
The value that the veteran Finn offers is very appealing today so that we can spend up at the winger position. In years past, this guy hasn't been known for his shot volume, but things are different this year. In his current four-game point streak he has six assists, 16 shots on goal, and he tallied two powerplay assists and seven shots on goal in his last game. Koivu is too cheap on both sites and he plays on the #1 line and the #1 powerplay unit for the Wild, so fire him up in all formats against an awful Colorado defense.
Stack with: Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter (PP)
Also Consider: Brayden Point (TB)
Brayden Schenn FD - $7300 DK - $6500
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 12.48 DK - 4.05
Wow, is this guy on fire or what? You will keep seeing him here until he becomes human again if that ever happens. He forms a deadly duo with superstar Vladimir Tarasenko on the #1 line and the #1 powerplay unit for the Blues. The young center is on an eight-game point streak with an unreal seven goals and 12 assists and he has fired 13 shots on goal in his last three games. Schenn is an elite play in all formats as the 10th most expensive winger today on FanDuel and ninth on DraftKings.
Stack with: Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz
Nazem Kadri FD - $5700 DK - $6000
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 10.43 DK - 3.11
The veteran center is like one of those old steam-engine trains that just keeps chugging along, minute after minute, day after day. Consistency and Kadri go hand-in-hand as proven by his current eight-game point streak where he has five goals and four assists. He doesn't shoot the puck a ton, but he plays on the powerful #1 powerplay unit for the Maple Leafs and center is tough after Schenn today, so we can consider Kadri in all formats.
PP Stack with: James Van Riemsdyk, Mitch Marner, Tyler Bozak
Also Consider: Connor McDavid (Edm)
Jakub Voracek FD - $7700 DK - $6900
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 15.4 DK - 4.5
Being on impressive and/or lengthy point-streaks seems to be a theme today(which is a very good thing), so let's keep it up with this Czech star who has three goals, three assists, and 17 shots on goal during his current four-game point streak. He plays on the #1 line and the #1 powerplay for the Flyers and the Islanders are ranked 24th defensively with 3.25 goals allowed per game, so lock him into your lineups in all formats for the early slate.
Stack with: Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier
Also Consider: Alexander Ovechkin (WSH) GPP formats only.
Johnny Gaudreau FD - $8100 DK - $7500
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 15.56 DK - 4.95
Before the red-hot flames were shut down by Goalie Bob last game, the young superstar was on a very lengthy 10-game point streak and seven of those 10 games were multi-point efforts. Wow! He is tied for second in assists with 21, third in points with 31, and he averages just under three shots per game so he brings a high floor and an unlimited ceiling to the table. He is a solid play in all formats this evening against an average Stars defense.
Stack with: Sean Monahan, Michael Ferland
Brock Boeser FD - $5500 DK - $5100
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 9.54 DK - 2.85
Don't fix what isn't broken, so I'm gonna go with Boeser for my value winger once again and it's hard not to as he's been performing very well in his rookie season. He is currently on an impressive five-game point streak with six goals, an assist, and 17 shots on goal and he has four goals(two on the powerplay), six shots and four blocks in his last two games. He plays on the #1 line and the #1 PP unit so until he cools off, he is a solid play on both sites and tonight he is against the Devils and their 20th ranked defense.
Stack with: Bo Horvat, Sven Baertschi
Also Consider: Taylor Hall (NJ)
Nick Leddy FD - $5200 DK - $5400
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 9.43 DK - 2.85
After recording two assists vs. Philly last game, he now has four multi-point performances in his last five games and has fired 10 shots on goal in his last three games. I don't think I have ever recommended him in a fantasy article before, but he quarterbacks the #1 powerplay unit that is currently firing on all cylinders at the moment. He blocks very few shots and can disappear like a magician at times, so look below for an early slate cash game option, but I really like Leddy in tournament formats today.
Also Consider: Ivan Provorov (PHI) in cash game formats
Drew Doughty FD - $5300 DK - $5800
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 11.45 DK - 3.65
We need to attack the Coyotes and their pathetic 31st ranked defense that allows 3.67 goals per game and this veteran workhorse point man has been as steady as a rock this season. Doughty has points in three of his last four games while adding seven shots and eight blocks which gives him safety for cash games and he plays on the Kings' #1 powerplay unit so fire him up in GPP lineups as well.
Darnell Nurse FD - $3900 DK - $3600
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 7.68 DK - 2.27
When it comes to value, Nurse is an exceptional choice as he has two goals, an assist, nine shots and two blocks in his last three games while averaging 25 minutes of ice-time per game. The former 2013 1st round pick is proving his worth this season and tonight the Oilers take on the Sabres and their awful 28th ranked defense that allows 3.48 goals per game. Nurse is way too cheap for this kind of production, so lock him into your cash game lineups tonight.
Also Consider: Colton Parayko (STL)
