What We Know

Stephen Curry is out for "at least a couple weeks"

There's a lot to process on the Warriors front tonight. We know Stephen Curry is out and he's going to be out for an extended period of time. The Warriors haven't shown a willingness to play Livingston for big minutes even with Curry out, so he's not too attractive. Quinn Cook will get the start and is somewhat interesting with Patrick McCaw out as well, but I wouldn't look at him outside of a tournament. Usage-wise, Thompson and Durant see huge bumps. Draymond Green is questionable, so we kind of have to take a wait-and-see approach to this situation.

Kristaps Porzingis is expected to return against the Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are a team that plays slow and don't allow much on the inside. They rank 10th best against PF's with Green at the helm and while Porzingis can always go for 50 FP, this is a tough spot. I assume he will see a few fewer minutes than normal and in a game with one of the lowest O/U's, it's just not really necessary. With so many options on this slate, let'sallow the Knicks to sort things out and take another look next game.

Willie Culey-Stein has been ruled out against the Cavs

WCS exited last game against the Bucks after just 8 minutes and the Kings played small ball for the rest of the night. We also saw JaKarr Sampson pick up 24 minutes. At minimum price, I guess you could do worse. I won't be anywhere near him, however. This team is an overall mess and Bogdanovic is my favorite King on the board, but they'll probably get blown out.

Marcus Morris has been ruled out with a knee injury

This is just a day off to continue the rehab process and I'm sure the Celtics won't be stretching anyone out like crazy as a result. Jayson Tatum may see 5 or 6 extra minutes and makes for an interesting play against a Dirk Nowitzki that doesn't play any defense. Daniel Theis may also get 5 or 6 extra, but that would put him at just 15-20. Horford, Brown, and Smart will absorb the rest of the minutes and are all very blah plays on this slate. Morris has only been playing 25-ish minutes a night.

What We're Waiting to Know

Draymond Green has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable

Green was originally doubtful, so I'd say it's fair to say his status is truly up in the air. If he does play, he's very interesting against the Hornets with Steph Curry out. He sees an extra 3 or 4% usage and has the ball in his hands as a point forward a lot more. If Draymond Green is out, Jordan Bell should pick up at least 10 minutes, which would put him at 25. At near minimum price, he's at least interesting in all formats. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will also have even more responsibility on their shoulders and would be hard to stay away from in any lineup. The Hornets have some decent individual defenders, but rank in the bottom 10 against both SG's and SF's.

As we stand, Stephen Curry and Patrick McCaw are out. Draymond Green is questionable. Even if Green plays, Durant will see a huge uptick in usage and get an extra 4 or 5 shots. The Hornets have some decent individual defenders, but rank 3rd worst against small forwards. Durant hasn't been over 50 fantasy points in 4 games and I'm hoping it keeps at least a few guys off of him. Seeing his usage go from at least 27% to 30% (33% if Green is out) is priceless and he is still just $10k. It's always hard to call a guy a "must" at $10k, but I would be very surprised to see him go under 50 tonight. With a ceiling over 70, he may end up a must in cash games.

  1. Sorry but isn’t Skal in the G-league now?

  2. yeah and it was even on the podcast that is posted to this site. Austyn will have 100% exposure to him though. I guess he thinks his G league points will count. Unbelievable.

    • Reaction time here is beautiful. Realized about 10 minutes after I submitted and came back to edit. Ended with a lot of Z-Bo and fortunately no G-League Skal. Sorry for the name switch, good luck tonight!
