Daily Fantasy MLB Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/12/18

As I mentioned in the main article, today is a weird slate with one early game, two mid-afternoon games, and a five-game main slate(if you are playing FanDuel). I set my sites in the article on the main slate and highlighted a Jose Berrios and Ian Kennedy at pitcher and with very few options that I can stomach plus the weather concerns in Boston, I will be just looking at a couple stacks here in this article. Let's get started.

First of all, if you are playing this two-game main slate on FanDuel today you are a hardcore(note: I am playing). The only stack I will have exposure to is the Cardinals for a couple reasons starting with the price as no batter is $4K or over today making it very easy to construct a lineup. They currently sit mid-pack when looking at wOBA(.303) but sit just outside the Top 5 in home runs with 15 giving them some upside. Looking at the matchup against Sal Romano, Matt Carpenter and Dexter Fowler stand out at the top as Romano was slightly worse against lefties last season giving up a 37.4% hard contact rate(28.6% vs. RH). So far this season he has struggled giving up seven earned runs in 11 innings(5.73 ERA, 5.71 xFIP) while striking out just three batters and walking five. Marcel Ozuna hit out of the four-hole and is my top player of the stack today. He came over from the Marlins in the offseason and has been solid so far as he comes in with hits in 10 straight games and still has a ton of upside to show as he has just one home run on the season. The Cards have the highest implied runs of the slate and should be able to take advantage of the matchup and the upgrade in park factor.

Washington Nationals vs. Chad Bettis(COL)

Trea TurnerTrea Turner FD 4200 DK 4800

Bryce HarperBryce Harper FD 5400 DK 5800

FD - 14.69 DK - 10.94
Anthony RendonAnthony Rendon FD 3800 DK 4500
Opponent - COL (Chad Bettis) Park - COL
FD - 12.83 DK - 9.67

If the weather is good to go in Boston, both the Yankees and Red Sox will be chalky on this small slate given they have combined for 32 runs in the first two games of the series. While I will have exposure to both I believe the Nationals will be less owned tonight and despite the downgrade in park factor, have similar upside. It starts with the matchup against Chad Bettis who, like I mentioned in the main article, has gotten away with mediocre pitching through two starts. He has walked(6) just about as many batters as he has struck out(7) yet only given up three earned runs which is the reason you see his xFIP(5.06) double that of the ERA(2.53). Another glaring stat early in the season is the 43.8% hard contact rate he has allowed to the Padres and Braves. The Nats have a much more powerful offense than those teams and I doubt he gets away mediocrity tonight.

Fitting all four of the above options is made a little easier if Brain Goodwin is back in the leadoff spot tonight as he has been filling in for the injured Adam Eaton. He has a ton of speed and if he can get on base, there are some All-Star level players behind him to get him around the bases. Trea Turner has been moved around the lineup early in the season as he attempts to break out after a slow start but he also has a ton of speed and is coming off back to back season with 30+ steals with an impressive on-base percentage. I wouldn't dare touch him in cash at this point but if he is back in the two-hole, he is a great target tonight. Capping off the stack is Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper. Rendon has been very consistent to start the year with hits in all but one game while Harper has shown a ton of power as he leads the league with six home runs, a .518 wOBA, and is second in slugging %(.789) and wRC+(232).

Also consider: Minnesota Twins vs. Lucas Giolito(CWS)
