GOALIE

Jordan BinningtonJordan Binnington FD - $8400 DK - $8400
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 17.19 DK - 13.56
Jake AllenJake Allen FD -
$7300 DK - $8200
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 17.87 DK - 14.16

The defending Stanley Cup champs are 2-0-1 to start the season and while the offense hasn't found top gear, the defense has picked up where they left off allowing just seven goals in those three games. Binnington has started all three games so far and has been excellent with a .928 save % while facing just over 32 shots per game. The Blues now get, by far, their best matchup of the season so far against a rebuilding Senators team that has been dominated in their first two games and now face the defending champs. If Binnington starts, he is my top goalie in all formats but if the Blues give Allen his first start of the season, I will use him in GPP only on DraftKings but all formats on FanDuel in the low $7K range.
Connor HellebuyckConnor Hellebuyck FD - $7600 DK - $8000
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 18.45 DK - 15.35

From a PTS/$ perspective, Connor Hellebuyck is right at the top of the list for me tonight in the low $8K range on DraftKings and mid $7K range on FanDuel. After a shaky opening night in Madison Square Garden(6-4 loss), Hellebuyck watched Brossoit start two in a row then made the most of his return to the crease saving 37 of 38 shots in a 4-1 win in Pittsburgh. The Jets now return to Winnipeg for their home opener as -140 favorites against the Wild who struggled offensively a year ago(27th) and have been outscored 9-4 in two losses to open the 2019-20 season. All things considered, Hellebuyck is in play in all formats on both sites.

Also Consider: Andrei Vasilevskiy(TB) as a value play(weird to say) on DraftKings as his price has fallen into the mid $7K range which is crazy even against the Leafs

CENTERS

Connor McDavidConnor McDavid FD - $9200 DK - $8100
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 20.4 DK - 13.89

The center position is a bit different on this large slate as most of the top tier players are in less than ideal matchups except one. He also happens to be arguably the best player on the planet and has opened the season with eight points through three games while averaging 22 minutes of ice time overall and gets all the powerplay looks(5.3 min per game on PP). What stands out the most tonight is the matchup against the Devils who have given up 16 goals through three games and now play on back to back nights. All things considered, McDavid is my top center and one of my top overall plays in all formats.

PP Stack with: Leon Draisaitl, James Neal, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Brayden SchennBrayden Schenn FD - $5800 DK - $5600
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 14.47 DK - 10.21

For value, I am going to venture down into the mid $5K range on both sites where we find Saskatoon, Saskatchewan's own Brayden Schenn. He already has two goals on the season and gets a ton of opportunity centering the top line and powerplay unit with Tarasenko and Schwartz. We are going to want as much exposure as possible to the Blues tonight as they get one of the best matchups on the board against the Sens who have already allowed nine goals in their first two games. At these prices, Schenn is one of my favorite PTS/$ plays in all formats on both sites.

Stack with: Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz

Also Consider: Roope Hintz(DAL) in the value range who already has four even-strength goals on the season and is averaging 11.4 scoring chances per 60 minutes of ice-time

WINGERS

Alex DebrincatAlex Debrincat FD - $6500 DK - $6400
Opponent - SJ
Proj Pts FD - 16.63 DK - 12.85

Things did not end the way the Blackhawks had hoped a year ago but on an individual level, Alex DeBrincat took a big step forward as he followed up an impressive 52-point rookie season with 41 goals and 76 points last year. One of the big reasons for the increase in goals(28-41) was the increase in shot volume as he tallied 220 shots and he picked up where he left off in the Hawks first game as he tallied five shots on goal and scored in the opening night loss. He and the team now get a terrific matchup against a struggling Sharks team that has already allowed 17 goals in four straight losses to open their season. Given his mid $6K price tag on both sites, DeBrincat is right at the top of my list in all formats tonight.

PP Stack with: Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane
Ondrej KaseOndrej Kase FD - $3900 DK - $5500
Opponent - PIT
Proj Pts FD - 11.67 DK - 9.12

Shot volume is everything when building cash game lineups and even finding upside GPP plays and Ondrej Kase fits the mold. He does skate down on the third line and gets just over 14 minutes of ice-time per game but he also makes the most of that opportunity with 11 shots on goal despite none in his last game. He has also backed that up with a very high 24.9 iCorsi/60(shot attempts) which is not uncommon for him as he finished last year with a 21.1 iCorsi/60 although a smaller 30 game sample due to injuries. He is a high floor player for cash games and there is upside here as well tonight facing a Penguins team that is prone to high-scoring games. Kase is in play on both sites but his best value easily coem on FanDuel in the sub $4K range.

Stack with: Max Jones, Adam Henrique

Also Consider: Blake Wheeler/Patrik Laine(WPG) on the top line in a plus matchup against the Wild

DEFENSEMEN

Ryan EllisRyan Ellis FD - $5100 DK - $5500
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 11.96 DK - 9.37

The Predators are chock-full of fantasy defense and tonight, it is Ryan Ellis who I will have the most exposure to, especially on FanDuel in the low $5K range. He is coming off a career-high 41 points last year and has started off hot early this season as well with three points in his first three games. The upside is there but what I am focusing on is the high floor as he has tallied nine shots and seven blocks while skating over 22 minutes per game. All things considered, Ellis is one of my top plays on defense in all formats.
Filip HronekFilip Hronek FD - $4200 DK - $3600
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 7.18 DK - 5.55

At the start of the season, I am always looking for buy-low situations on players who are either underpriced due to injury last season or just a young player poised to breakout and will soon be much more expensive. Hronek falls into the latter category and as a 21-year-old rookie last season he tallied 23 points in just 46 games and is now skating top pairing and will get all the ice-time and opportunity he can handle quarterbacking the powerplay. he isn't going to be a high floor player with a lack of blocks but the upside is going to be there and the price is right to take the risk on the road in Montreal tonight.

Also Consider: Alex Pietrangelo(STL)
in all formats, Erik Gustafsson(CHI) as a PP GPP option or Esa Lindell(DAL) getting a ton of opportunity(23.8 min per game) skating top pairing and 2nd powerplay unit
