Point Guard / Shooting Guard
It’s all on the line in Phoenix on Sunday (as it is in Boston) and we are likely to see max minutes out of all the major players. Luka is sure tough to fade at this point considering he does literally everything for the Mavericks and has really all season long. For the series, Doncic is averaging 32 points, 10 assists, and 7.5 rebounds in about 37 minutes per game. The funny thing is that the overall minute total is low because so many of these games have been blowouts one way or the other. The reality (if things stay close) is that he’s playing 42+ minutes in this one and should be able to beat those averages.
We could see Jrue play nearly the whole game here for the Bucks and considering how important he is for their chances to win, they will be hard-pressed to take him off the court at all. Holiday struggled in Game 6, going only 7-17 from the field while failing to get much going in terms of rebounds or assists either. But for the series, he’s still putting up a 21/6/6 line even with that relative stinker. The DraftKings price is still a place to go especially if you don’t think you can fit the two superstars in Luka and Giannis.
White offers one of the few ways to save on this slate even though he’s not strictly a punt play option. But sitting in the lower middle tier is a way to start saving some dollars and he’s been playing real minutes off the bench for the Celtics. White has played 30 or more minutes in each of the last three games, putting up 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists in that stretch. That’s good enough to play on these tight slates when you need to prioritize the superstars.
Mikal Bridges FD - $6000 DK - $5500
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 29.08 DK - 29.12
I do think the plan is to play Bridges in the north of 40 minutes in this closeout game and would be shocked if this wasn’t the case considering the stakes. He’s had some weirdness in his lines over the last few games because of some blowout and foul trouble issues. But in this closeout game, and with the way they want him to defend Luka, I think 42-43 minutes is in the cards and if that’s the case then he’s underpriced on DraftKings especially. We need to grab as many minutes in the mid-range as possible.
Reggie Bullock FD - $5300 DK - $5100
Opponent - PHO
Proj Pts FD - 23.71 DK - 25.0
Bullock took the second-most shots on the team (15) in Game 6 and was one of the main reasons this game turned into a rout. Him knocking down threes is one of the key ways the Mavericks can close this out. In the games they’ve won, Bullock has shot 45% from three (13-29) and they’ve mostly at volume. He’ll probably need to replicate that here and there’s a good chance that 42+ minutes are in the cards for this one.
Jae Crowder FD - $5100 DK - $5300
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 28.34 DK - 28.28
Crowder has been dusted off the minutes over the last two games because of the blowout, but looking back at the two games that were close and we see what the plan is with this guy. In those games, he ran 36 minutes each and finished with an average 17 points and seven rebounds. That’s more than enough production for this price point on both sites. It helps to get these minutes at these salary points because he’s another mid-range guy that can help get the superstars.
Power Forward/ Center
Giannis Antetokounmpo FD - $12000 DK - $12000
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 68.99 DK - 70.8
For these two-game slates with so much on the line, you basically want to prioritize the superstars at all costs. Getting Luka and Giannis into cash games is almost the place to start and the sacrifices can be made elsewhere. That’s much tougher on DraftKings than FanDuel so you’ll likely have to choose. But how do you fade Giannis? He’s coming off a 44-point, 20-rebound game last time out and for the series is averaging 35.3 points, 13.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and more than two blocks+steals. It’s just been other-worldly. And it’s all going to be on the line here once again.
Pat Connaughton FD - $4500 DK - $4400
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 27.29 DK - 28.55
He’s listed as a PF on FanDuel and Connaughton is another one who will likely be a popular option seeing as how he’s coming in the lower tier as well. Pat C has played 30+ minutes in each of the last four games coming off the bench and has averaged 12 points and five rebounds in that time period. There’s even an outside chance that he starts this game, though I don’t think that actually happens. Regardless, they’ve needed some of his scoring and floor-spacing. I think he’ll be pretty chalky here.
