The top tier at the guard position is very interesting in that Luka and Kyrie are both questionable for Dallas, Haliburton and Morant are out for their respective teams, and James Harden gets a much tougher matchup against a Top 5 defence. That makes the choice pretty easy at this point even with the inconsistencies Steph has shown since returning from missing nearly a month. I am not too concerned, however, as the usage(22 shots a game) and accuracy(52% from the field) remain and he has averaged 49 fantasy points over those eight games. I like the floor and ceiling in this matchup tonight against the Rockets' 29th-ranked defence and will have exposure to Steph in all formats.
Brunson missed some time with a foot injury recently but returned to the floor Saturday night and assumed his regular high-usage role(20 shots) while playing 32 minutes in the win. While the price has gone back up on FanDuel, it has actually dropped $600 on DraftKings and that is where I am most interested as it's his lowest price since the Christmas season. During that 28-game stretch, Brunson has displayed a consistent floor tallying 30 or fantasy points in 25 of 28 games, 40+ in 18 of those and he also averaged 43.7 during that time. At this price, I will be buying low on DraftKings in all formats tonight.
The former Kansas Jayhawk was drafted 14th overall by the Cavs last season and was a part of the trade that sent Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland. He has been pretty much irrelevant all season but has slowly seen his role increase lately and makes for a decent punt play who is projected to start in a game with a 239 total. There have been mixed results since he entered the starting lineup but there is some good news as he has received double-digit shot attempts in seven straight with his best two fantasy performances coming in the two most recent games where he exceeded 22 DK points in each. That would be more than enough tonight as it would allow us to stack multiple top-tier plays.
Kelly Oubre Jr. FD - $7600 DK - $6900
Opponent - IND
Proj Pts FD - 36.95 DK - 38.96
Much like Brunson who I mentioned above, I am much more interested in Oubre on DraftKings where the price has plummeted below the $7K mark for the first time since early March when he entered the starting lineup. It may be a product of the small slate or based on the ugly performance in his last outing(16.5 DK points) but he has been solid during the eight-game stretch averaging 36 DK points overall and 39 if you take out last game. He is very shooting dependant but does get one of the best matchups on the board against the Pacers who rank 26th in defensive efficiency and 28th/18th in fantasy points to shooting guards and small forwards. He will be GPP only for me on FanDuel but in my player pool in all formats on DraftKings.
Domantas Sabonis FD - $10700 DK - $10400
Opponent - UTA
Proj Pts FD - 50.37 DK - 54.27
We have two big men who jump off the page tonight and I slightly lean toward Sabonis over Embiid because of the matchup. While Embiid gets a Top 5 defence in the Bulls, Sabonis not only gets the Jazz who rank 24th in defensive efficiency but this game also has the highest total on the slate at 239. Then we get into the form and Sabonis has been an absolute beast since the break averaging 20.9 points, 13.5 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks+steals per game. He has double-doubles in 12 of those 13 games and triple-doubles in five of them! All things considered, Sabonis is my top overall payup on this slate and an elite play in all formats.
Aaron Nesmith FD - $6000 DK - $5200
Opponent - CHA
Proj Pts FD - 23.46 DK - 24.95
The system is slowly coming around on NeSmith and I get it as he has been wildly inconsistent over the course of the season. What intrigues me, however, is the current short-term run he is on shooting 58% from the field on 13 shots a game over his last three and with five or rebounds in each of those games, has delivered 33 or more fantasy points in each, as well. The minutes seem solidified and he gets a plus matchup against a Hornets team that ranks 21st in defensive efficiency and 24th in fantasy points to power forwards. I will have exposure in all formats on both sites.
