Point Guard/ Shooting Guard

Cade CunninghamCade Cunningham FD - $8000 DK - $8300
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 39.95 DK - 45.21

Jaden IveyJaden Ivey FD - $5200 DK - $5400
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 31.36 DK - 34.22

The bad news is that the Pistons stink and have lost 13 straight games. You don’t have to know anything about anything to know that’s horrible. At the same time, there is still some nightly DFS value on this squad and they actually come in as favorites against the Wizards. What does that tell you about Washington?

Cade Cunningham took 26 shots last game, finishing with 31 points against the Pacers. And on the season he’s averaging 22 points and 7.1 assists. The 4.8 turnovers a game are a problem, but here’s to hoping some of the usage sticks for him against the worst defensive efficiency team in the league.

Meanwhile, Jaden Ivey has been starting at the two guard and is coming off a 25-point game against the Pacers. He’s not a good outside shooter, but at least has been taking some from distance. And I think that stacking these guards at their price points does give a higher floor. The Wiz are just such a garbage team that it’s hard to imagine them slowing anyone down.

Tyrese HaliburtonTyrese Haliburton FD - $10600 DK - $11000
Opponent - POR
Proj Pts FD - 55.33 DK - 59.5

Buddy HieldBuddy Hield FD - $5300 DK - $6400
Opponent - POR
Proj Pts FD - 30.43 DK - 33.55

I have this guard grouping second on the list not because I think they are worse than the guys above, but because they are more expensive and there’s some real blowout risk in this game. The Pacers come in as -12.5 favorites against the terrible Trailblazers and they could run them out of the gym.

Tyrese Haliburton is on one right now, averaging 32 points and 14 assists over the last three games. Those are just unreal numbers and, if anything, he’s run a little bad in the defensive categories. Portland hasn’t been terrible on defense (middle of the pack) and run a slower pace which does drive him down a bit, but Haliburton has been one of the best fantasy guys period.

Then there is Buddy Hield who has been starting over the last couple of games for the Pacers. Now, with Indiana, there’s always some rotational fluctuation after Haliburton that can drive you crazy. But I’m still willing to play Hield at these prices because he can pile up the threes when things are going well.

He’s averaging three-point attempts a game over the last three shooting a red hot (and unsustainable) 67% from deep. On FanDuel, the price is still too low for the new role even if he can get buzzed on minutes.

Strongly consider Reggie Jackson (FD 5000 DK 5800) especially if Aaron Gordon were to miss time again.

Small Forward

Michael Porter Jr.Michael Porter Jr. FD - $6900 DK - $7500
Opponent - LAC
Proj Pts FD - 36.38 DK - 39.85

Aaron Gordon sat out Sunday evening against the Spurs with an injury and could be in danger of missing this game as well. Michael Porter Jr. ended up taking the second-most shots on the team after Jokic and finished with 25 points along with seven rebounds. If Gordon were to miss again, and with Jamal Murray already out of the lineup, he’d be a higher floor play even in a not-so-amazing matchup against the Clippers. We will have to keep an eye on this situation even if we don’t have news prior to lineup lock.

Ausar ThompsonAusar Thompson FD - $7100 DK - $6500
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 36.83 DK - 38.08

Ausar Thompson has seen some price stagnation of late for a couple of reasons that could be just blips on the radar. For starters, he’s had foul trouble in a couple of games that’s led to minutes getting cut. Also, the Pistons have been blown out a few times and starters minutes went down with it.

Now, against the Wizards, things could be lining up for a bounce back and if Thompson gets run in the mid-30s (which I think is the plan) then he could easily crush this price. He’s averaging 2.9 blocks + steals on the season (love that on FanDuel) and has grabbed very close to double-digit rebounds (9.8). This is a spot to take him at possibly low ownership.

Power Forward/ Center

Jalen DurenJalen Duren FD - $6700 DK - $6700
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 43.26 DK - 46.38

These picks have been Pistons heavy, but it’s obviously for good reason. We always want to target bad defenses and Washington really gives us that. And we are possibly getting an incredible value on Jalen Duren here. He’s missed games with injury and last game came off the bench.

But he also played 29 minutes and tallied 13 points with 13 rebounds and four assists. I think he moves back into the starting lineup for this game and the minutes should tick back into the mid-30s if things go well. If that’s the case then he’s an easy button click for both sites.

Kyle KuzmaKyle Kuzma FD - $7900 DK - $8600
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 44.41 DK - 48.2

Jordan Poole was a (very) late scratch last game and the Wizards are just generally a mess. But I do think we can pretty safely play Kyle Kuzma in this matchup against the Pistons. He’s been one of the “safer” Washington guys on the season, at least with the minutes and is averaging 23 points a game while hitting 37% of his threes (best of his career). The FanDuel price doesn’t totally break the bank either.

Daniel Gafford (FD 5900 DK 5700) is also in the mix as well, especially on DraftKings.

Walker KesslerWalker Kessler FD - $5700 DK - $5500
Opponent - NO
Proj Pts FD - 27.85 DK - 28.69

First off, we need to keep an eye on the Lauri Markkanen (FD 8400 DK 8500) situation for Utah. He sat out last game and could this one as well. Secondly, Walker Kessler returned to action, but came off the bench in his first game back. If he moves into the starting lineup again and the minutes press towards 30 then we would be getting him at a fantastic bargain. Sometimes it pays to be early on speculative stuff like this and this could be an extreme buy-low spot.
