Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/29/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/29/16 Leap day is here! Full disclosure, I am a big detractor of February 29th. Let's dive in as to why. 1) I was born on February 28th. When you're born on February 28th, a startling number of people think that's actually leap day. Another startling percentage will make a joke like, "If you were born 1 day later, you'd be like 9 years old right now!!!" No, jerk, I'd be the same age. My birthday would just be March 1st, since I wasn't born in a leap year. 2) It grates against my need for elegant solutions. As a mathy person, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how things fit together, just so. Meanwhile, we have a calendar that has a number of months with 30 days, a number with 31, and one with 28. Except for sometimes, when it has 29. It just feels like someone gave up along the way to a better solution, not worrying that people like me would have to deal with a lifetime of bad jokes. Where were we? Ah yes, basketball. Basketball being played today. I have thoughts on which players you should play in daily fantasy basketball. Here they are. Enjoy, POINT GUARD Russell Westbrook - FD 11000 DK 11100 Opponent - SAC FD Proj. Pts - 53.76 DK Proj. Pts - 55.68 To the surprise of absolutely no one, I'm sure. Westbrook is one of the most consistent big money fantasy players we've seen, and the Kings are a wreck on defense. They've allowed the 5th most fantasy points per...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/28/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/28/16 Sunday, Sunday, Someday! A little double-slate today, but I'm going to focus mostly on the late slate since that's what the super-majority of you will be playing. After a truly wild Saturday slate, this one is quite a bit more subdued. I mean, Damian Lillard is the most expensive guy on a 5 game slate. That's... kinda boring. But! Boring can be where our bread gets buttered. So, let's get buttering. Or something. If you want to grab a free trial of the winning projections that inform each and every one of these picks, check out our NBA Optimal Lineups, Projections, Player Cards and Google Chrome extension that auto-populates your lineups into FanDuel. We've also launched a Stats and Research Page, which includes a lot of the individual statistics that we use to make our projections. It's free! Enjoy, POINT GUARD Ricky Rubio - FD 6900 DK 6400 Opponent - DAL FD Proj. Pts - 34.85 DK Proj. Pts - 35.87 The top guy at the position from a points per dollar basis, and it's not even close. On DraftKings in particular. What's going on with Rubio? Well, he's got to be one of the only guys who can average 5 shots per game over a 3 game stretch but also top 35+ fantasy points in each of those games. So what's up? Well, the Wolves are finally trusting Rubio to simply run the offense on every possession. To great effect! He's averaged better than 12.5 assists per game during that stretch. Dallas is a league average match-up under normal circumstances, but they've been playing a ton of overtime games in a short stretch, so I like Rubio to carve up their fatigued defense. Goran Dragic - FD 6300 DK 6400 Opponent - NYK FD Proj. Pts - 28.47 DK Proj. Pts - 29.93 Dragic has frankly been great recently, thanks to all of the injury troubles plaguing the Heat. While some of that is unsustainable (Dwyane Wade...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/26/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/26/16 Friday is here. And I have to say, after a truly crazy week around the DFSR offices, I'm feeling a little TGIF right now. Wait, what? We work every day? Doh. But wait - we write about daily fantasy sports for a living! Okay, okay. I'm back. Tonight's an interesting slate for a few reasons. We've got a pile of fast and loose defenses, and at least 1 team (the Bulls) with a ton of playing time uncertainty. It also seems like it might take 400 points to win a big tournament tonight, so keep that in mind when building your GPP lineups. If you want to grab a free trial of the winning projections that inform each and every one of these picks, check out our NBA Optimal Lineups, Projections, Player Cards and Google Chrome extension that auto-populates your lineups into FanDuel. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! We've also launched a Stats and Research Page, which includes a lot of the individual statistics that we use to make our projections. It's free! Enjoy, POINT GUARD Mike Conley - FD 6900 DK 7200 Opponent - LAL FD Proj. Pts - 36.05 DK Proj. Pts - 38.24 An easy one to start with. I wrote this the last time Conley played the Lakers (2 days ago, if you're keeping track at home), but this is literally the very perfect spot to play him. Not only have the Lakers allowed the most fantasy points to opposing point guards of any team in the league, the Grizzlies are essentially missing a whole team's worth of players as compared to what they were rolling out earlier this season. Conley put up 42 fantasy points in 29 minutes on Wednesday, and I see no reason why he shouldn't repeat that performance (or even exceed it, if the Lakers keep it close) on Friday. Chris Paul - FD 9800 DK 9600 Opponent - SAC FD Proj. Pts - 44.12 DK Proj. Pts - 46.01 I'm straying slightly from the...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/23/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/23/16 Tuesday's here! And to be real with you for a second, it's a seriously crazy day for us. We have a brand new lineup tool coming out today (I'll replace this text once it's fully launched), and we have some other potentially huge developments coming in the not to distant future. We just launched our stats and research page - where you can get access to a lot of the data that goes into our projection system. Meanwhile, there's daily fantasy politics to follow, with a bunch of insane candidates vying for the right to rule us. Okay, okay. Just the picks, James. I get it. Don't worry - my focus is totally on nailing this slate for y'all. So let's get to it. If you want to grab a free trial of the winning projections that inform each and every one of these picks, check out our lineup construction tool for DraftKings and FanDuel. While the seasons overlap, you'll get access to our tools for the NBA and NHL (and MLB when the time comes)! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with NBA? Be sure to read our free NBA Ebook on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! POINT GUARD Emmanuel Mudiay - FD 5600 DK 5900 Opponent - SAC FD Proj. Pts - 27.23 DK Proj. Pts - 28.37 After a one game break from being a great play at these prices, Mudiay went back to work against the Celtics, putting up a solid 18/5/3 in just 30 minutes in a blowout loss to the Celtics. I've written this before, and I hate to repeat myself, but Mudiay is simply under-priced if he's going to cost less than $6,000 and play 33+ minutes per game. He gets a significant boost here because of the man who will be guarding him. David Thorpe had a terrific take on Rondo's defense on a recent Zach Lowe podcast - essentially, Rondo is simultaneously gambling too much for steals while also not doing the hard work of playing the team defense the modern NBA requires. This is great new for Mudiay, who can occasionally be overwhelmed by defense first point guards. He's got a high floor here, and enough ceiling that I'd recommend him...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/20/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/20/16 Happy Saturday! I have a little post traumatic stress thing going from trying to figure out how the trade deadline was going to impact last night's games, but thankfully there isn't quite as much to worry about today. After a 14 game Friday, we get a nice 4 gamer to catch our breath. You ready? Let's get it on. If you want to grab a free trial of the winning projections that inform each and every one of these picks, check out our lineup builder and Google Chrome extension that auto-populates your lineups into FanDuel and DraftKings. While the seasons overlap, you'll get access to our tools for the NBA and NHL (and MLB when the time comes)! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! POINT GUARD Chris Paul - FD 10000 DK 9400 Opponent - GSW FD Proj. Pts - 46.15 DK Proj. Pts - 48.08 The battle of the high priced point guards ought to be an intense one today, and it should give us a sense as to whether the Clips actually miss Blake Griffin or what. They've played the Dubs tough in their two meetings this year, which is a lot more than most can say, and a lot of that has been due to the efforts of CP3. Golden State has been a league average match-up for point guards, but this is a special case since Paul will A) have a chance to stay in the game and B) will have something to prove, as always, against Curry. This isn't to say I mind Steph today - he's also a good play. It's just that Paul is cheaper, and his team has so few other options. Paul still leads the NBA in time of possession in 2016 (thanks, SportVU data), and his floor just seems higher. Goran Dragic - FD 5600 DK 5700 Opponent - WAS FD Proj. Pts - 27.89 DK Proj. Pts - 29.44 This one comes with a little bit of an asterisk. Dragic flies up this list as a clear must play if Dwyane Wade misses another game - he's had the ball in his hands for...
