Total Bases

Troy Tulowitzki
Wilin Rosario
Going with two Rockies in my top total bases slots today for good reason. These guys crush lefty pitching and Eric Stults is in for some real trouble today. Tulo's numbers against lefties are out of this world as he's been the best hitter in all of baseball against that side of the split this season. Rosario, all things considered, isn't too far behind posting an OPS in the mid 900's. I think these two guys compound on each other as the Rockies should be putting up a bunch of runs today and both stand to see extra at-bats because of it. I think these two guys are easy calls in the total bases category today considering many of the other big hitters are in tough matchups.

Hits

Robinson Cano
Cano is in a great spot to collect multiple hits today for a couple of different reasons. His contact rate is solid as his 11.6% K% and 8.6% BB% mean he's getting the ball in play early and often. Also, he faces Kyle Gibson who pitches to contact (harder contact) with a 4.75 K/9 which is about as bad as you'll see from an everyday starter. I think Cano will be a top play in cumulative hits today just because he should at the very least have his bat on the ball.

Scooter Gennett
Not a guy I've mentioned much in this spot, but for no fault of his own. Gennett is crushing righty pitching this season with a 146 wRC+ and .903 OPS in what is for him a natural platoon. Roberto Hernandez sucks with an xFIP in the high 4's and the only thing that worries me about Gennett here is Hernandez's walk rate not giving Gennett the ultimate opportunity to collect the hits. Then again, Scooter isn't too interested in free passes so it should be all good.

Strikeouts

Yu Darvish
Chris Sale
Not much to really talk about here. These are your top two guy in projected K's by a wide margin. They should occupy your top two spots and I'd most likely go Darvish in the top spot because his K/9 rate is nearly two strikeouts higher than Sale's and he gets to face the Astros who, while being decent against righties, also K 24% of the time. Darvish will most likely be played across the board in the 9 K slot and I don't suggest fading him there. Meanwhile, Sale's matchup against the Red Sox is solid too considering they are a middling team against lefties and he's an uber-stud who keeps his K expectation high because he limits the walks considerably.
