Draftster has a ton of cool stuff going on including the a whole host of Freerolls

Quarterback

Colt McCoy-$3000
Not going to be a guy you see topping a ton of quarterback value lists but this explanation is incredibly simple. He is the starting quarterback coming in at the absolute minimum on Draftster. Case close. He’s the best points per dollar player in the system and it isn’t even close. Reminder, this doesn’t mean he is the favorite to score the most raw points out of the position. Not by a long shot. But the deal you are getting to play the starting QB really for any team coming this cheap is something you really can’t pass up. Honestly, it makes me want to get more money in Draftster than usual. This is one of those rare opportunities to have a crazy advantage over anyone other squad that doesn’t have him. Those teams are -EV right from Jump Street. I’m not even going to recommend another quarterback play. It doesn’t make sense. He throws one touchdown and you’ve basically made your money on the guy.

Running Backs

Rashad Jennings-$5100
If the reports are to be believed and the Giants plan on bringing him more into the fold this week through the run, then you are getting a crazy great deal on Jennings. Washington is a fairly stout run defense, ranking in the top ten of the league. But one way I see this game playing out is the Giants being able to stop the crappy Washington “offense” and controlling the ball for a better portion of the game. I don’t think that’s totally wishful thinking either considering Washington’s recent performance. If you are getting an RB1 (ish) for these mid tier prices on the assumption he gets a full workload then you are really snagging value.

Mark Ingram-$5700
Much the same story as Jennings though probably a bit safer. Ingram’s price has stagnated because of a travesty of a performance by the Saints last week. But he’s still in line to see the majority of the carries (even with some of the other New Orleans RBs back in the mix). The price reflects this quasi-time share. It’s fine. Because he faces a Bears team coming in around the middle of the pack against the run. Granted Chicago is much, much worse against the pass. But I think that could lead to Ingram being used accordingly if the Saints get up early. A cold night in Chicago could also lead to a more focused running attack on the part of the Saints. It all goes to say that I like Ingram at this price.

Wide Receivers

Josh Gordon-$6400
He’s the 19th most expensive running back on Draftster this week. That seems like a bigtime pricing error. I know we aren’t completely sure of what happens with Johnny Manziel behind center, but come on. This is a guy who is a target monster two out of the three games since he’s been back and really should be Manziel’s first, second and third look when the little partier isn’t taking off on the ground. Gordon played a season-high snap count last week, a great sign for his future usage and you are potentially getting the top wideout on the day for a significant discount. There is no other receiver on Draftster who stands a better chance to shred his price than Gordon.

Steve Smith-$5500
This could very well be the deal of the week. With Torrey Smith out Smith instantly becomes the far and away leader in the passing game and the guy who stands to see even more targets than he’d already seen. Last week he saw 11 targets, converting to 7/70/1. His price is firmly in that middle tier and you won’t find a better bargain in terms of expectation as compared to salary on the board this week.

Dez Bryant-$7700
I think because you can save some at quarterback and running back this week that spending up at wide receiver is a totally viable strategy. This is often the case on Draftster where the pricing fluctuates a little more than some of the larger outfits. And this especially true when fitting in some higher priced wideouts who tend to have a bit less variance. The Eagles allow in the bottom third of the league in yards receiving per game. It makes sense though. They play at a high volume pace every game and the opposing team is allowed that many more snaps on average. It just translates to fantasy production.

Tight Ends

Coby Fleener
He didn’t have a great game last week, but there’s one thing I (and our system) are honed in on is just how much Andrew Luck wanted Fleener to have an epic performance. Luck targeted him ten times throughout the game. That makes an average of eight targets a game in the last five weeks. Not many other tight ends can brag about this kind of love from their quarterback. Fleener is still moderately priced and it doesn’t hamper the rest of your squad to sneak him in.

Consider Owen Daniels if you think he benefits from Torrey Smith being on the shelf.
