Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks for DraftStreet 1/20/14

Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks for DraftStreet 1/20/14

Big time schedule going for this holiday Monday. We've also got picks for the FanDuel early games and late games posted. You'll definitely see a lot overlap, but this was the easiest way to separate the plays for today as grouping them all together was just too confusing. The biggest over/under today is Portland / Houston so you'll want to target a few players from that game.

Quick reminder about these picks. At DFSR we employ a system that seeks to gain the most points-per-dollar. When we give a recommendation, it’s because we believe that player has the best chance to meet or exceed his price. On any given the night the highest dollar player can be expected to score the most points, but that doesn’t always make him the best play for the money. Just something to keep in mind. On to the picks.

Guard

Going to give a variety of price options that we see as nice value. Wall is the top big money guard today by a fairly wide margin.

Upper tier plays

John Wall $19072 - This is the big money I'm betting with today on DraftStreet. Wall is just too good and Philly too bad to pass up this play. Creeping toward 20K is a lot for JW, but I think you can play it safely for as bad as the Sixers are against, well everyone.

Demar Derozan $15015 - He's the man in Toronto now. The only thing that can hurt his value some on DraftStreet is the missed shots, because he takes a ton of them. Still, in the right game he can put up 40FPs at this price.

Dwyane Wade $14241 -Don't think he'll be a big play today, but assuming he's a go, I think you can play him at this price. Not only is Atlanta not great against SGs but Wade's price has dropped after some underwhelming performances and a rest day on Saturday. I think this is against the grain with some upside.

Darren Collison $13008 - Rough game against a real tough team in Indiana. Should bounce back. He still has all of the opportunity in LA with CP3 out and Detroit is no good against PGs.

Mid tier:

Kirk Hinrich $8980 / DJ Augustin $12711- I've been grouping them together though I'm not sure if that is completely fair. First of all they are in fact completely different guys. Also, they both play enough minutes at these prices to possibly both get into your cash lineups. And finally, they get the Lakers. I think they both could post double digit assists.

Wesley Matthews $11131 - Not a guy you'll see run out there a ton, but our system really likes him today. He can go 3x at this price and Houston has struggled with opposing SGs. Honestly, it's not a guy I would pick at first glance, but like I said, our system has him as one of the top plays at guard today.

Jimmy Butler $11259 - Another guy who our system gives an incredible bump to because of matchup. The Lakers let up a gajillion points to shooting guards.

And three cheaper options:

(Update) Ramon Sessions $7392 - Taking over for Kemba Walker and at this price is nearly a must start.

Alan Anderson $5968 - Just a crazy cheap price for a dude who's starting and seeing close to 30 minutes per game. Granted those aren't always high quality or even productive minutes, but this salary is bargain basement with significant upside.

CJ Miles $7646 - Feast or famine. Could give you 30. Could give you 5. I like him in some tournament spots to round out a lineup at this price.

Forward

This list is listed loosely by how much points/$ you can expect:

Carlos Boozer $12986 - Must be licking his chops. Can just feel the rebounds landing in his hands. Can see the ball going in the hoop on his jump shot. Can taste the points piling on.

Trevor Ariza $13956 - This price is climbing after a few good games from Ariza, but it's also because DS knows he's paying the Sixers and knows that's good for the other team. Ariza gets it done in every part of the stat line. I love him today.

Lamarcus Aldridge $21717 - Put up a 31/25/2/2/2 line last time they met and that has to be on everyone's minds. We shouldn't expect a repeat performance, but he is a favorite to pay this price.

Nene Hilario $13329 - Sixers.

Chandler Parsons $12133 - Struggled in his last few but could break back out today in what should be a high scoring game against Portland.

Blake Griffin $20132 - This price is getting up there and that might scare some people off. I actually think he can pay it and more against Detroit.

And a cheaper option:

Ryan Kelly $5418 - A bargain basement play who's a favorite to see increased minutes, at least today. Who knows going forward with Mike D'antoni. Kelly had a great game against Toronto yesterday and should see quality minutes again.

Center

I have Noah and Howard as 1 and 1A.

Joakim Noah $18845 - The top for-the-money center play for me on DraftStreet today. Noah's ability to score, rebound, assist and block shots makes him the perfect play against the Lakers who can't defend any of those aspects of the game.

Dwight Howard $17959 - He's second and a great option for the money.Howard has been a beast over Portland this season averaging 31/15 in their two meetings.

Andre Drummond $15279Right behind Howard for me. Should have no problem handling Deandre inside, and because Jordan has no real offensive game, I'm not too concerned with Drummond getting into foul trouble.

If you want to go risky/ a little upside look at Robin Lopez $10931
