Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 8/14/14

DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts.

Total Bases

Todd Frazier
Devon Mesoraco
Welcome back to Coors Field everyone. Been missing you something fierce. What with you cool, crisp air that creates a launching pad effect the likes of which we could only hope to recreate in some sort of zero gravity chamber. It's great. And hail to the visiting team walking in for a four game series. You'll be seeing these names quite a bit over the next few days I'm sure. Facing off today against Jorge de la Rosa, both Frazier and Mesoraco (the latter especially) are hitting lefties quite well and stand to have some big power upside going today. In terms of total bases, I suspect they'll get more than a few chances to rack 'em up. Time for another visit in the Rocky Mountain air.

Hits

Jose Altuve
The sample size is for sure small, but Allen Webster has been nothing short of an abomination since hitting the bit leagues. It's only fifteen innings, but he's walked more than he's struck out and has just basically been tattooed. Altuve on the other hand keeps his good times rolling right along. He is such a favorite for hits at this point it's kind of crazy. The LD% is solid, he never walks, never K's and has the ball in play early and often. Should be more of the same today.

Scooter Gennett
Scooter hates taking walks. I love that about the guy in this format. And his strike out rate of 12.8% is more than adequate in what we're looking for to profile hits on a given day. I don't love the matchup with Edwin Jackson because the latter does have some K stuff and gets wild as well. But Gennett's been solid against righty pitching this season with a wRC+ in the mid 140's and a general knack for getting the bat on the ball.

Strikeouts

Stephen Strasburg
Max Scherzer
These two are easy and work really well if you start off playing the early games on ScoreStreak. Afterwards it gets a little tougher with K's as the drop off the to the third-ranked pitcher in our system is a precipitous. Both Strasburg and Scherzer have among the best strikeout stuff in all of baseball and both average more than ten strikeouts per nine innings. Those are some lofty numbers. Stras's matchup against the Mets is slightly better than Max against the Pirates who hit righties well. But both guys should be in the top two K slots without even thinking.
