Pitchers

There are all kinds of problems with pitching on this slate. Choosing a clear favorite isn't easy.
Corey Kluber - FD 9900 DK 11500 DD 20300 DFSTR 10300
He's a favorite against the White Sox today and his price, especially on FanDuel, has dipped a bit based on recent performance. I think that makes a decent time to buy on the guy. Though his last game was a rough one, the games before that saw him still striking out more than a batter an inning even if he was getting knocked around a bit. The White Sox are a good offensive team against righties though they do strike out more than 22% of the time. Kluber isn't a great value everywhere, but pitching is somewhat scarce in this evening slate and if you need to overpay for him a little then so be it. He has the highest strikeout upside of anyone going and that, at times, can be worth paying for.

Hyun-Jin Ryu - FD 8700 DK 10200 DD 18100 DFSTR 10800
He's a -220 favorite against the Diamondbacks today and that win expectation is almost enough for a slight overpay here. Ryu's peripherals this season have been stellar as he's striking out eight batters per nine and walking less that two. His 3.12 xFIP looks great and Ryu generally seems like a safe-ish play today. I say safe-ish because while the Diamondbacks rank in the bottom third of the league against lefties, they really never strike out. That means Ryu will have to go deep in the game to really pay off considering it's unlikely he'll pick up a bunch of extra K points.

Nathan Eovaldi - FD 6000 DK 6600 DD 12250 DFSTR 5200
It isn't likely that you'll be able to, or want to fit both Ryu and Kluber into two SP lineups which means you'll have to scrape the barrel finding some other competent arm to throw in there. I'd take a chance against Eovaldi. He has some factors working in his favor. The Braves rank near the bottom of the league in team wOBA against righties and last game Eovaldi pitched somewhat effectively, going into the seventh and earning the win. The ballpark in Miami helps his cause as well as it's huge and keeps the ball inside the walls. Don't love it here, but he's cheap and you'll need that if you are overpaying for one of the two guys above.

Pitchers go through rough patches in seasons. Baseball is a streaky sport. But

Catchers

Mike Zunino - FD 2300 DK 2800 DD 6250 DFSTR 3000
Prepare yourself for a whole host of Mariners on this list tonight. But that's the case when they play against such a weak pitcher in Nick Martinez. Zunino has a big strike out problem which is neutralized to some degree against Nicky M, who isn't interested in getting K's. This is such a weak position on the late slate that I'm content going cheap and forgetting about it.

Evan Gattis - FD 2600 DK 4000 DD 8400 DFSTR 3000
This is a little bit of an overpay but there is so much cheap value going on in this slate, plus the pitching overall isn't going to cost you, that I think you can overspend in some spots. Catcher is one of those places. Gattis is above average against righties and though the ballpark is less than ideal, I don't mind paying for a middle of the order catcher.

First Basemen

Justin Morneau - FD 3000 DK 4200 DD 8900 DFSTR 3000
Joe Wieland was once kind of a prospect but those days are probably over. Now he's just kind of a guy who happens to be making his first major league start since 2012 in the best hitter's park in baseball. Good luck Joe. Morneau has enjoyed particular success against righties in Coors this season and is coming at nice mid range prices in a great spot against Wieland. I'll want some Rockies bats in my lineups on this slate for sure considering the opponent.

Kendrys Morales - FD 2200 DK 3400 DD 6400 DFSTR 3000
Logan Morrison - FD 2200 DK 3000 DD 6000 DFSTR 3000
Our system liked both guys yesterday as punt plays and I'll take them against tonight against the human batting practice machine Nick Martinez (more on him further down). Both these guys get the starts against righties and both hit around the middle of the order. They are both near minimum priced guys with a little bit of power upside.

Consider Freddie Freeman

Second Basemen

Robinson Cano - FD 3300 DK 4800 DD 10450 DFSTR 4400
His price on FanDuel is stupid low and honestly he makes a great play everywhere even where the price is steep. He's facing a pitcher in Nick Martinez who strikes out less than five batters per nine and is one of the worst starting pitchers in all of baseball that still has a regular gig. Cano makes a ton of contact against righties and has been one of the best hitters in baseball against righties on the season. His .392 wOBA is especially great considering the power hasn't been there all that much this season. I don't think I'll stray too far from the guy today.

Consider Jedd Gyorko if you are looking for a little Coors upside on the cheap.

Shortstops

Hanley Ramirez - FD 3100 DK 3900 DD 9400 DFSTR 3000
I'm writing this before first pitch in the Friday night Dodger game just so you know. Even without knowing what he does tonight (and honestly it doesn't change my opinion too much) Hanley is coming way to cheap all around. Even with his struggles he remains a SS hitting around the middle of the order. Most shortstops can't even say that. He faces Chase Anderson who's actually struggled against righties this season in a reverse split. I'm buying Hanley almost strictly on the price and his upside relative to the rest of the field.

Brad Miller - FD 2500 DK 3500 DD 6650 DFSTR 6000
He went yard last night and has actually run kind of bad against righty pitching this season. He has a 10% walk rate, showing some patience and the .247 Babip has driven down his overall performance. Hitting last in the order has its disadvantages, but he's a punt play through and through on a day in which I've recommended every other Mariner.

Third Basemen

Kyle Seager - FD 3300 DK 4800 DD 9550 DFSTR 7500
The top play at third base in this slate and it isn't particularly close. Seager, much like his Mariner pals, is in a great spot today against Nick Martinez. Seager has put up excellent numbers against righties this season with a .882 OPS and 150 wRC+ in that platoon. The Ballpark in Arlington is a great hitter's park and Seager is facing one of the worst pitchers on the slate. I don't think I'll be moving too far away from him today considering some of the other options are either in tough matchups or just stink.

Consider Yangervis Solarte

Outfielders

Yasiel Puig - FD 2600 DK 4200 DD 10850 DFSTR 3000
Like his boy Hanley, Puig is still coming way too cheap in some spots ($2600 on FD is a complete joke) and really should be in all of your lineups where the price has bottomed out. His problems are similar to Hanley. They are slumping something awful. But their spots in the order are secure, they have power upside and the prices heading so far south just are too low to really ignore. For Puig, there is almost no risk to playing him on FD especially in cash games.

Corey Dickerson - FD 4400 DK 5100 DD 10050 DFSTR 8700
Charlie Blackmon - FD 3000 DK 5000 DD 9900 DFSTR 6500
Like I mentioned for Morneua, facing the righty quad-A Joe Wieland should have its bright spots for the Rockies today. Mainly for these two guys who hit righties well. Dickerson in particular has had resounding success in that platoon and his price reflects it. But with pitching coming cheap in this late slate I don't think you'll have any issues fitting his salary. Both are in excellent spots and I'm assuming they will be heavy cash game plays against the young arm.

Yoenis Cespedes - FD 3800 DK 4700 DD 9400 DFSTR 5000
He's run so bad against lefties this season, but it's still the better side of his split and J.A. Happ isn't a pitcher to be scared of, especially with the Green Monster looming so close in left field. Folks are soured on Cespedes lately even when he's facing a lefty. I think you have some chance for a separation play here.

Consider Mike Trout if yo have money left or Allen Craig and Abraham Almonte as punt plays.
