Point Guard

Patrick Beverley - FD 4700 DK 4700
Such a tough night. But this one is pretty easy. Beverley is coming very, very cheap for a guy seeing thirty minutes from the point. Him playing actually serves two purposes also. Now that he's back and coming cheap we can slot him in and just hope he stands on the court long enough to pay, which he will. Also he will be guarding Tony Parker which essentially takes Parker out of the mix for me. Beverley is far from an offensive dynamo, but he doesn't need to be at these tags. Should be a 100% start as far as I'm concerned.

Devin Harris - FD 4700 DK 5200
Getting a little weird in Dallas where Jameer Nelson is seeing reduced minutes and quickly falling out of the starting point guard role. I understand he starts the game with the rest of the good players, but gives way to Harris more lately. It's strange playing the backup here, but I think Harris is seeing enough minutes that there is safety at this price.

Shooting Guard

Monta Ellis - FD 7900 DK 6800
Portland allowed worse than league average scoring to shooting guards last season and very little has changed about their situation this time around. I actually don't think he has a ton of top-end value but he really doesn't need to on a night when the options are rather limited. Ellis is a guy who can get his points in a couple of different ways which helps in cash games in this situation. I basically don't want to take a zero at this position and that feels like a definite possibility with some of the other options.

Wesley Matthews - FD 6000 DK 6300
Listen, I'm not some kind of expert for putting him in here, and I actually don't love his value, but I am not a fan of trying to figure out who is going to get the major run for the Spurs out of the Green/Ginobili/Belinelli platter. Matthews will get his minutes even though they are against a Dallas squad that defends the SG position well. Again, this isn't getting your money in great, but it's getting it in safe.

Small Forward

Chandler Parsons - FD 6700 DK 6900
If you're like me, you played Parsons in his one bad game this season. But his usage has actually been terrific. While the occasionally stinker will be possible just due to all the mouths to feed, Parsons has played 34+ minutes in 3 games this year, and scored 20+ points in each of those. On a short night, Parsons is one of the safer bets going, with upside if he's feeling hot.

Kawhi Leonard - FD 6100 DK 5000
Now, there's definitely some risk when it comes to playing Leonard - the Spurs seem like they are going to err on the side of easing him into his full role this season. But on a short slate, Leonard can still pay this (and more) as well as anyone else at the position. Ariza has a tough match-up and Batum is off to a rough start. Short slates are weird.

Power Forward

LaMarcus Aldridge - FD 9500 DK 8800
Picking the right big money guys is key on short slate nights. Tonight - I present one Lamarcus Aldridge. Aldridge's recent game log hasn't been very impressive, but he's been lined up against some pretty good interior defenses. Dallas was 23rd against the power forward position last season, and I don't see Chandler ranging out to take on Aldridge's face-up game. I think this will be Aldridge's big break out game.

Boris Diaw - FD 4300 DK 4700
On a night that's not looking like there will be a lot of punts, Diaw is the next best thing. He hasn't done a ton in the 30ish minutes per game he's played this year, but he really doesn't need to to pay off back-up prices. With Terrence Jones banged up, and Dwight likely to try and take on Duncan, Diaw could see a size mismatch that could help him tap into a little more upside than he normally has.

Center

Robin Lopez - FD 6000 DK 5800
Tyson Chandler - FD 5700 DK 5700
Here's the thing - I don't like really anyone at center tonight. In cases like that, it doesn't make a ton of sense to invest a lot of money. Our projection system actually likes Howard about the same as Chandler, but it likes guys at other positions quite a bit more. So for me? I'll take Chandler for safety. He's been between 24-27 FanDuel points on pretty consistent minutes, and I don't see why that won't continue against the Trailblazers. As for Lopez, he's basically a Chandler clone with a little more variance. I like Chandler for safety, Lopez for upside.

Also considered: Brandan Wright, if you want to make the money work. Been paying nicely on 18-20 minutes a night, but it's a strict GPP move.
