Daily Fantasy NFL Picks for Draftpot - Week 9

Welcome to the Week 9 DFS NFL picks article for Draftpot, a brand new way to play fantasy sports. Draftpot is similar to other DFS sites except there is no salary cap restrictions. They offer two separate game types(Fan Mode/GM Mode). For NFL, Fan Mode allows you to build a roster of 1 QB,2 RB,3 WR,1 TE,2 FLEX,1 K,1 DEF without salary restrictions. You can roster anyone you want. In GM Mode, you also roster the same positions but have a Drafpot Points Per Game(DPPG) cap. Each player have a PPG value attached to their name which is a reflection of their previous 16 games played. This gives a more transparent look at player value.

When making my picks I will be looking at a multitude of information (Vegas lines, totals and player props, targets, defensive matchups, injuries, offensive line rankings and of course DPPG) to break down all the players in the pool to provide you with the best analysis possible for the slate at hand.

If you missed out on Week 8 at DraftPot, you missed out on a large amount of overlay. Don't worry though. They are doing it again this week with their $12 entry, $100,000 Guarantee Touchdown Fan Mode tournament. It pays $10,000 to first and is bound to have more overlay again this weekend. Get in on the action while there is still time.

To win a tournament in Fan Mode you won't be able to just pick the top players at their positions each week. You will need to differentiate yourself with some low ownership picks. One way I love doing this is picking good players who are coming off a bad to horrible week. Recency bias plays a huge part in daily fantasy and is something we can use to our advantage to gain an edge on the field in large field GPP tournaments. I feel there is a tremendous opportunity for this here in week 2 with the number of poor performances by top players last week.

Remember, in a mode like DraftPot you will need some separation from the field. Players who stand to produce big games that give you a chance to break from the pack some.

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers @ CAR (DPPG - 22.62)
My #1 stack for this weekend across the industry will be Rodgers and Cobb. It is a tougher matchup vs. a 7-0 Panthers team but I like Rodgers to bounce back after being beat down by the Broncos last week. He has multiple weapons to throw to and not much of a rushing game so look for 40+ attempts on Sunday.

Marcus Mariota - Tennessee Titans @ NO (DPPG - 12.11)
He has been confirmed to start on Sunday after missing some time due to injury. He is facing a Saints defense who got torched by Eli Manning and rank dead last in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. He will be without WR Kendal Wright this week and should be forced to use his legs a little more. The Saints have allowed over 100 yards rushing and 2 TD's to quarterbacks on top of the passing stats. Great low owned option to differentiate yourself in large field tournaments.

Also Consider: Tyrod Taylor - Buffalo Bills vs. MIA (8.65 DPPG)

Running Backs

Demarco Murray - Philadelphia Eagles @ DAL (DPPG - 17.55)
Coming off a buy week and headed back to Dallas where he spent the last four years of his career. His role in the offense has grown each week and he should be primed for a big game on Sunday vs. a Cowboys team near the bottom in fantasy points allowed to running backs.

Devonta Freeman - Atlanta Falcons @ SF (DPPG - 15.24)
The streak of games with more than 32 DraftPot points came to an end two weeks ago but he has still been consistent with over 15 DP points in 7 straight games. He is in a great matchup vs. a 49ers offense in the bottom 3 of the league in points allowed to running backs. Look for the Falcons to get the lead early and spend the second half handing the ball off to Freeman. He has the upside to have another huge game and should be used in a high number of your lineups.

Also Consider: Lesean McCoy (11.8 DPPG)

Wide Receivers

Randal Cobb - Green Bay Packers @ CAR (16.64 DPPG)
As mentioned with Rodgers this will be my top stack of the week. I like Cobb's matchup vs. Carolina as it looks like he will be facing Bene Benwikere in the slot most of the day and avoiding the top corner in the league: Josh Norman. The Packers are coming off a big loss to the Broncos and will be looking to bounce back in a big way.

Eric Decker - New York Jets vs. JAX (13.25 DPPG)
With Brandon Marshall questionable to start on Sunday, Decker could see extra targets vs. the Jaguars. He has been a consistent option this year and has put up more than 14 DP points in each of his last 4 games.

Also Consider: Demaryius Thomas - Denver Broncos @ IND (DPPG 19.36)

Tight Ends

Heath Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. OAK (DPPG - 8.73)
If you are playing Fan Mode he is a nice owned option and if you are playing GM Mode he is a nice value at 8.73 DPPG. With Ben Roethlisberger back last week he received 13 targets for 10 receptions and 105 yards. Look for another monster outing from Miller against the leagues worst ranked team vs Tight Ends.

Delanie Walker - Tennessee Titans @ NO (DPPG - 9.96)
He makes a nice stacking option with Mariota in tournaments this week as Kendal Wright will be out and he should receive some extra targets. He has put up 3 straight double digit fantasy points games.

Also Consider - Greg Olsen - Carolina Panthers vs. GB (DPPG - 13.43)

Defenses

Philadelphia Eagles @ DAL (DPPG - 9.25)
They have really started to rack up the sacks and interceptions in their last 3 games and are now coming off a buy and headed to Dallas. The Cowboys have not looked very good since losing Tony Romo under center. There is opportunity for a multi sack/int game and would be an added bonus to get a special teams or defensive TD.

Denver Broncos @ IND (DPPG - 10.13)
Will be the highest owned defense again most likely but have recorded multi sack totals each game this year. They get a matchup vs. a turnover friendly Andrew Luck.

Kickers

Josh Lambo - San Diego Chargers vs. CHI (DPPG - 110.63)
He will be playing at home on Monday Night Football in a high projected total and has put up double digit points in 5 straight games.

Josh Brown - New York Giants @ TB (DPPG - 11.13)
On the road again in TB and coming off a game where he recorded 7 extra points and had 0 FG attempts. With the Giants near the bottom in red zone offense I can see Brown getting a few more FG attempts this week.
