Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings, FanDuel, & Draftpot for Monday, December 28th, 2015. Tonight we have a smaller 6 game slate and only the Colorado Avalanche are playing on back to back nights.

Cash game strategy doesn't change much on a short slate. Look for a goalie on a team who is favorite to win and if possible, at home. Then find some value for defense(shots/blocks) and fill in your forwards with high floor players. Tournament strategy, however, does change on a short slate. You won't win any GPP's if you play the chalk plays that everyone else will be playing. A nice strategy for the short slates it to stack a high scoring teams 2nd or 3rd line. Most likely these lines will be able to produce as their teams are ranked high in scoring. You can even go more contrarian and stack an unpopular team or struggling team that will be low owned.

Let's now take a look at some core plays on Monday night.

Goaltenders

Jonathan Quick - Los Angeles Kings @ VAN *Probable*
DraftKings - $7,900 FanDuel - $8,600 DraftPot -  4.76 DPPG

He makes a fantastic GPP play as the wins have alternated with losses the last four games. He has been terrific on the season though, with a 18-9- record and .916 save % leading the Kings to the Pacific Division lead. The Kings are on the road in Vancouver tonight as favorites. They have picked up 11 wins already on the road and are in prime position to pick up their 12th tonight.

Marin Jones - San Jose Sharks vs. COL *Probable*
DraftKings - $7,000 FanDuel - $7,400 DraftPot -  3.36 DPPG

The Sharks are at home on Monday night as favorites vs. the visiting Avalanche. Jones has won three of his last four games even though he has given up 11 goals in the last three. He will be looking for a strong bounce back game after the Christmas break and will be in a nice spot to do so Monday. The Avalanche haven't won in San Jose in five straight games dating back to March, 2014.

Also Consider - Ben Bishop - Tampa Bay Lightning vs. MON

CENTER

Joe Pavelski - San Jose Sharks vs. COL
DraftKings - $7,500 FanDuel(RW) - $9,700 DraftPot - 4.78 DPPG

He is red hot with points in six of his last seven games including three multi point games. He has pushed his season point total to 36 and has added 100 shots and a +6 rating. The Sharks are ranked 10th in offense and 8th on the powerplay and will be home favorites on Monday vs. the Avs who are ranked 23rd in defense and 22nd on the penalty kill. He is a better value on DraftKings and is safe in all formats while he should be reserved to GPP's on FanDuel and DraftPot.

Stack with - Joe Thornton, Brent Burns, Patrick Marleau

Alex Galchenyuk - Montreal Canadiens @ TB
DraftKings - $4,500 FanDuel - $4,800 DraftPot -  2.60 DPPG

The price for Galchenyuk has dropped as has the price of most the Habs during their current losing streak. He provides a ton of value and has recorded points in three of his last four games. The floor is high as he averages 16.4 iCorsi/60 which sits 47th in the league. He is safe in all formats.

Stack with - Daniel Carr, Max Pacioretty, Dale Weise

Also Consider - Anze Kopitar - Los Angeles Kings @ VAN

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin - Washington Capitals
DraftKings - $8,700 FanDuel(LW) - $9,700 DraftPot -  4.63 DPPG

On a short slate he makes a great GPP play as a high priced player who has been struggling lately. And by struggling I mean only seven points in his last 10 games(lol). In that period he has still fired an average of 4.5 shots on goal. He leads the league with 29.0 iCorsi/60 and has the largest multi point upside in the NHL.

Stack with - TJ Oshie, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson

Filip Forsberg - Nashville Predators vs. NYR
DraftKings - $5,900 FanDuel(LW) - $7,000 DraftPot -  4.18 DPPG

He has picked up points in four straight games and has added 15 shots in that time. The Predators, as a team, have been better at home and the same goes for Forsberg as he has averaged close to a full point more on home ice. The Preds get the Rangers at the right time as they have been struggling lately so I expect the offense to come out flying with Forsberg playing a key role.

Stack with - James Neal, Craig Smith, Call Jarnkrok, Roman Josi, Shea Weber

Daniel Carr - Montreal Canadiens @ TB
DraftKings - $3,000 FanDuel(RW) - $3,200 DraftPot -  2.45 DPPG

He makes a great punt option tonight and will allow extra salary cap to go towards Ovechkin or Pavelski. He has scored a goal in three of his last four games. The ice time has started to go up meaning added value for the Canadiens young winger.

Stack with - Alex Galchenyuk, Lars Eller, Max Pacioretty

Also Consider - Gabriel Landeskog - Colorado Avalanche @ SJ

DEFENSE

Dan Boyle - New York Rangers @ NSH
DraftKings - $3,900 FanDuel - $4,800 DraftPot -  3.53 DPPG

To build a lineup with Pavelski and Oveckin and a top goalie you are going to need value on the point. Boyle provides blocks and shots to give him a nice floor and has added seven points in his last 10 games with five of those points coming on the powerplay.

Brendan Smith - Detroit Red Wings @ MIN
DraftKings - $2,700 FanDuel - $3,600 DraftPot -  1.68 DPPG

He isn't known for his scoring but has been on his hottest streak of the season lately. He has four of his seven points in the last four games and has added more shots and blocks than his season average. The most important thing with Smith is that his ice time has also climbed from around 15:00 a game to about 19:00 in his last three games.

Also Consider - Marco Scandella - Minnesota Wild vs. DET
