Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings, FanDuel, & Draftpot for Thursday, December 31st, 2015. It is the final day of 2015 and we have 9 games on the NHL schedule tonight. There is some tremendous value plays tonight which will allow us to pay up for some superstars. Let's take a look at the slate and find some high end and value plays for New Years Eve.

Goaltenders

Thomas Greiss - New York Islanders @ BUF *Probable*
DraftKings - $7,600 FanDuel - $8,800 DraftPot -  5.32 DPPG

He is the top projected goalie in both the FanDuel & DraftKings lineup tool and has been playing really well as of late. His record is up to 10-3-2 with a .932 svae % after his latest win in Toronto. He finally started to get some offensive support after a stretch of four games where he only allowed five goals but got only two wins. He has taken over as the starter following the move to put Jaroslav Halak on the IR and should see a few more starts before he returns to action.

Kari Lehtonen - Dallas Stars vs. NSH *Probable*
DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $8,200 DraftPot -  4.44 DPPG

After a shutout win vs. one of the leagues best in the Blues, he was pulled last time out allowing three goals on 14 shots vs. the Blue Jackets. He has been excellent between the pipes for the Stars this year and owns a 12-2 record with .911 save %. If he gets the nod again tonight you know he will be motivated to bounce back after losing to one of the worst teams in the league. The Stars are home favorites tonight vs the Predators who are playing a third game in four nights on the road.

CENTER

Tyler Seguin - Dallas Stars vs. NSH
DraftKings - $8,600 FanDuel - $9,100 DraftPot - 4.20 DPPG

Top center option tonight and as he carries a really high floor averaging 22.2 iCorsi/60 which has produced 151 shots on goal. He is third in league scoring with 48 points and forms the leagues #1 scoring duo with linemate Jamie Benn. The Stars were embarrassed last time out vs. the Blue Jackets and will be motivated in a bounce back game vs. the Preds playing a third game in four nights.

Mathieu Perreault - Winnipeg Jets @ ARI
DraftKings - $4,100 FanDuel - $5,500 DraftPot -  3.33 DPPG

A nice value option for tournaments tonight. He is very streaky with the scoring but presents multi point upside and makes a low owned stacking option on the Jets 3rd line. He has recorded 25 points on the season with 8 coming on the powerplay where he has been averaging close to 3:00 per game.

Stack with - Nikolaj Ehlers, Drew Stafford, Alexander Burmistrov

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin - Washington Capitals @ CAR
DraftKings - $8,800 FanDuel(LW) - $9,600 DraftPot -  4.90 DPPG

The projection system absolutely loves Ovechkin again tonight as the top overall pick. He was projected for around 7 points last night and blew that away with two goals on 10 shots for 11 DK/13 FD points. While the projection system doesn't like him as much tonight(6.3 projected points) he is still in a great spot to put up another monster game. The Caps are on fire right now winning 9 straight games(all in regulation!!) and sit atop the NHL standings with 58 points.

Stack with - TJ Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Marcus Johansson

Blake Wheeler - Winnipeg Jets @ ARI
DraftKings - $7,000 FanDuel(RW) - $6,900 DraftPot -  4.43 DPPG

If you don't want to pay up for the top wing options tonight, Wheeler makes a terrific pick at the next level of salary. He plays on the Jets top line and #1 PP and has picked up 11 points in his last 10 games and is now up to 37 points in 36 games so far this year. The Jets get a favorable matchup tonight in Arizona where the Coyotes are ranked 29 in goals allowed per game.

Stack with - Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little, Dustin Byfuglien

Dustin Brown - Los Angeles Kings @ CGY
DraftKings - $3,900 FanDuel(RW) - $3,600 DraftPot -  2.80 DPPG

One of the top value options on the projection system today. He comes in at a very low salary making a great punt option on all sites. He is coming off a 3 point game but has struggled to score for the most part this year on the Kings third line. He does however provide a nice floor as he averages 18.5 iCorsi/60 which has produced 106 shots on goal. He will be very low owned and another great 3rd line contrarian stack.

Stack with -  Trevor Lewis, Dwight King, Anze Kopitar(PP), Marian Gaborik(PP)

Also Consider - Tyler Toffoli - Los Angeles Kings @ CGY

DEFENSE

Kevin Shattenkirk - St. Louis Blues vs. MIN
DraftKings - $6,200 FanDuel - $6,200 DraftPot -  3.85 DPPG

Sits 3rd in points(23) on the Blues and he has played 10 less games than most of his teammates. He has picked up 8 points in his last 10 games and provided a high floor averaging 3 shots on goal per game. He makes a great high end pick on the point tonight.

Erik Gustafsson - Chicago Blackhawks @ COL
DraftKings - $2,700 FanDuel - $3,500 DraftPot -  1.88 DPPG

A tremendous punt option on the point tonight for the Blackhawks who recalled him earlier in the week. In his first game back he picked up an assist, two blocked shots and a +3 rating in 14 minutes of ice time. His extremely low salary allows a ton of roster flexibility tonight.
