Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings & FanDuel for Tuesday, January 19th, 2016. It is a really important day for me as my oldest daughter turns 12 today. Ya 12. We are pretty lucky she has grown up and mostly taken after her mom this far. Well besides the love of sports. Anyways back to the hockey picks for Tuesday.

Tonight there are 8 games in the NHL with only the Edmonton Oilers playing on back to back nights. Most of the elite goaltenders are between the pipes tonight giving us many different directions to go. For cash games we will target the home favorite and safest pick possible and for tournaments we will look for a goalie with a good chance at winning at low ownership.

Let's dig in and find some core and value plays for tonight's action.

Goaltenders

**UPDATE - Andrei Vasilevskiy is starting for the Lightning tonight and is a nice value play**

Ben Bishop
Opponent - EDM
FD - 8600 DK - 7700

The #1 goalie option tonight is affordable on both sites. Bishop has won three straight games in which he has only allowed three goals in total. He has been a major contributor to the Lightning's current five game win streak as they push for the playoffs here in the second half of the season. He has pushed his record to 18-13-3 with a .927 save % on the year. The Lightning are the biggest favorites on the board tonight as the face the Oilers who are playing on back to back nights in the state of Florida.

Corey Crawford
Opponent - NAS
FD - 10300 DK - 8300

No goaltender has been hotter than Crawford lately. He has picked up eight straight wins in the midst of the Blackhawks 11 game win streak. In that time, he has allowed less two or less goals in six of those eight wins and has pushed his record to 26-10-2 with a .929 save % on the year. The Blackhawks head to Nashville Tuesday night to face the Preds as slight dogs. Crawford has faced the Preds twice this year and won both times allowing three goals in total with a .963 save percentage.

Also Consider - Steve Mason - Philadelphia Flyers vs. TOR

 

CENTER

Claude Giroux
Opponent - TOR
FD - 7600 DK - 6700

The Flyers superstars has picked up five points in his last three games helping the team climb back into a playoff race. He has started to get the puck on net more frequently averaging around three shots a game over his last 10 games. He spends a ton of time on the powerplay but hasn't seen the production yet as the Flyers have struggled to 29th ranking on the PP. Look for them to kick start the special teams tonight in a home mathcup vs the Leafs.

Vladislav Namestnikov
Opponent - EDM
FD - 4900 DK - 3500

A tremendous value on both sites for the young star who has been bumped to the top line with Stamkos and Palat. He has picked up seven points in his last four games including a hat trick vs. the Penguins on Friday night. He hasn't been taking a high volume of shots(16 in last 10 games) but will benefit greatly playing alongside Stamkos on the top line. The Lightning get a nice matchup tonight at home vs. the Oilers playing back to back and their third game in four nights.

Also Consider - Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins vs. MON

 

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin
Opponent - CBJ
FD - 9200 DK - 8700

There are two must play stars in great spors tonight but unfortunately we can only play one. I am going with Ovechkin tonight over Patrick Kane. Both are on the road tonight but Ovi has the more favorable matchup facing the Blue Jackets sitting dead last in goals allowed per game placing them 30th in league standings. Ovechkin has scored nine goals in his last 10 games with a crazy high 54 shots on goal. The shots give him a high floor every night and with his elite scoring ability he can be the difference maker in tournaments.

Stack with - Nickas Backstrom, TJ Oshie

Tyler Toffoli
Opponent - DAL
FD - 6000 DK - 6000

He as really picked up where he left off early in the year when he provided a high floor and made a tremendous pick for cash games almost every night. He has averaged around 3 shots per game over his last 10 and has recorded 10 points in that time with a +8 rating for the Kings. He is currently skating on a line with Kopitar and Lucic who are the hottest pairing on the team at the moment. The Kings get to face the Stars for the first time this season and get a great spot to do so as they have lost four of their last five games.

Also Consider - Loui Eriksson - Boston Bruins vs. MON

DEFENSE

Ryan McDonagh
Opponent - VAN
FD - 5400 DK - 4900

With the lack of value options in net tonight and so many elite options at the forward position, we will dig down and find some low end values on the point. McDonagh makes a great start at around $5K on both sites. While he only has five points in his last 10 games, he has picked up 20 shots on goal, 25 blocks and a +3 rating giving him a fairly steady floor for cash games.

 

Adam Larsson
Opponent - CGY
FD - 3700 DK - 3300

Larsson will be more of a punt play for DraftKings tonight as his floor is dependent on his blocked shots. He has picke dup 24 blocks in his last 10 games and now has 90 on the season. He has also added four of his 11 points in the last six games s he has seen a bit of extra ice time. Rostering Larsson will allow you to pay up for a top goalie and one of the elite forwards tonight.
