Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - 2/6/16

The 12 game NHL schedule is split into two slates on Saturday. There are four games in the afternoon and eight games starting at 7:00 pm ET. For the purpose of this picks article we will be concentrating on the night slate. The following teams are playing on back to back nights;

• Pittsburgh Penguins (Road)
• Winnipeg Jets (Road)
• Calgary Flames (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*

 

Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

 

Goaltenders

Semyon Varlamov - Colorado Avalanche vs. WPG

FD - 9500   DK - 7800

He will be back in the net for the Avs on Saturday night after missing some time due to personal reasons. He has won four straight starts and in his last 10 games has posted a 7-3 record with .926 save % for the Avs as they try and remain on the top of the Western Conference Wild Card standings. They host the Jets on Saturday night and have won each of the last four meetings between the clubs.

 

Roberto Luongo - Florida Panthers vs. PIT

FD - 9600   DK - 8400

The Florida Panthers are definitely one of the surprising stories of this season. They sit at the top of the Atlantic Division and only 9 points behind Eastern Conference leading Washington. Luongo has played a huge role in the success as he has been impressive with a 23-13-4 record with a .930 save % for the Panthers. He gets a matchup at home vs. the Penguins who are playing on back to back nights and coming off a blowout in Tampa Bay. The Pens have played pretty good as of late winning 6 of their last 10 games making Luongo a great GPP play at a possible lower ownership.

Also Consider - Tuukka Rask - Boston Bruins vs. BUF

 

CENTER

Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins vs. BUF

FD - 6900   DK - 7300

A favorite when it comes to writing about centers in the NHL. Bergeron is one of the most consistent producers out there and does it with mid tier talent around him. With 45 points in 51 game this season he is on pace to match his career high of 73 points. While the Bruins have struggled at home this year they come in as huge favorites(-210) tonight vs. the Sabres and should be able to score 3+ goals in this matchup. Bergeron is a safe option at center in any format tonight.

Stack with - Brad Marchand, Ryan Spooner, David Krejci, Loui Eriksson

 

Nazem Kadri - Toronto Maple Leafs @ OTT

FD - 6900   DK - 5700

If you are looking for a high floor cash game play, Kadri definitely fits the bill. He ranks third in the league in iCorsi/60 (22.1/60) which has generated a total of 187 shots on goal for the year. The Leafs travel to Ottawa tonight for a matchup vs. teh Senators who rank 29th in goals allowed and 28 on the penalty kill. Great spot for Kadri tonight. Safe for cash games and has upside for GPP's in a potential high scoring game.

Also Consider - Joe Thornton - San Jose Sharks @ NSH

 

WINGERS

Evander Kane - Buffalo Sabres @ BOS

FD - 6700   DK - 6200

I will be heavily targeting the Bruins in this game but also want a piece of the Sabres. These two teams faced off on Thursday and Kane picked up a goal on an amazing total of 11 shots on net. Over his past 10 games he has fired 54 shots on goal and added six points(2 on the PP). He is also averaging over 20 minutes a game and close to 2:30 on the powerplay. If you want exposure to the Sabres, Kane provides the highest floor and with the shot volume has tremendous upside vs. the Bruins who have struggled at home this season.

Stack with - Johan Larsson, Brian Gionta, Matt Moulson

 

Patrick Kane - Chicago Blackhawks @ DAL

FD - 8700   DK - 8700

He doesn't come as the top Winger pick tonight as the matchup is a tough one on the road in Dallas. An elite talent like Kane is definitely matchup proof and with a salary still below $9K he makes a great GPP play tonight. He currently leads the league with 75 points in 55 games played and has already passed his career high in goals and now has 31. Don't expect the production to stop anytime soon as he looks to become the first 100 point player since Sidney Crosby recorded 104 points two years ago.

Also Consider - Daniel Sedin - Vancouver Canucks vs. CGY

DEFENSE

Erik Karlsson - Ottawa Senators vs. TOR

FD - 7100   DK - 7500

I don't normally like to pay up for D men in any format but tonight seems like a prime time to get Senators in your lineup in a great matchup vs. the Leafs. Karlsson picked up 3 points in his first meeting with Toronto and has come out of the All Star break on a two game point streak and will carry huge upside for GPP's into tonight's game. I would even consider using him in cash.

 

Zdeno Chara - Boston Bruins vs. BUF

FD - 4800   DK - 5300

He isn't going to put up the offense like he has in the past but Chara still provides affordable fantasy value for the Bruins. He still averages over 24:00 of ice time and close to 1:30 on the powerplay and to this point in the season has recorded 27 points. He is best used for cash games, especially on DraftKings where he gets the added bonus of blocked shots

Also Consider - Jason Demers - Dallas Stars vs. CHI
