We are back for another night of daily fantasy hockey with 7 games on the NHL schedule. A bigger than usual slate for Friday leaving us plenty of great goalie options. Always be sure to go and check out www.leftwinglock.com to check the confirmed goalies before lineups lock so yo don't get burned. For the most part these articles are written the night before when there is only speculation as to who is starting.

The following teams are playing on back to back nights:

  • Buffalo Sabres (Home) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
  • Los Angeles Kings (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
  • Colorado Avalanche (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
  • Calgary Flames (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*

Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Marc-Andre Fleury
Opponent - CAR
FD - 9000 DK - 8100
With Lundqvist being ruled out Friday, I have shifted my top pick over to Fleury. While he hasn't been in his best form lately he does have wins in six of his last eight games and still holds a .920 save % on the year. He gets a good matchup tonight in Carolina as the Pens are favorites and and shutout the Canes 5-0 back in mid January.

Petr Mrazek
Opponent - COL
FD - 9500 DK - 8000

He has arguably been the hottest goaltender in the NHL since the calendar has changed to 2016. In the new year he has a 10-2-1 record with a .952 save % in 13 games. He has clearly taken over as the #1 goalie in Detroit for this year and into the future. The Red Wings will face an Avalanche squad playing on back to back nights and will be starting their backup goalie, Calvin Pickard. This is a great spot for a Detroit win.

Also Consider - Louis Domingue - Arizona Coyotes vs. CGY

CENTER

Sidney Crosby
Opponent - CAR
FD - 10200 DK - 8100

After going on an absolute tear after the All Star break, Sid and the Pens were shut down last time out vs. the Rangers. That performance won't sit well with Pens and tonight should be a good bounce back spot for them in Carolina. After a slow start to the year, Crosby is now up to 53 points in 52 games and is averaging over 4 fantasy points per game on both sites. He is best played on DraftKings where he will cost you 16% of your cap vs. 19% on Fanduel.

Stack with - Patric Hornqvist, Chris Kunitz, Kris Letang

Alex Galchenyuk
Opponent - BUF
FD - 4900 DK - 4400

With the recent struggles the Habs have faced, the coach has continually been shifting lines around to find a spark. He seems to have found one with the paring of Galchenyuk, Gallager and Plekanec on the first line. Galchenyuk has recorded points in five of his last six games and added 19 shots on goal. He comes in at a very affordable salary and gets a great matchup tonight vs. the Sabres who rank 22nd in goals allowed per game.

Stack with - Brendan Gallagher, Tomas Plekanec

Also Consider - Dylan Larkin - Detroit Red Wings vs. COL

WINGERS

Nikita Kucherov
Opponent - NAS
FD - 6800 DK - 6700

There is not a lot to get excited about at the top of the salary for wingers tonight. For my top pick I am going to go down a bit and select Kucherov. He has been skating with Tyler Johnson and Alex Killorn and has recorded 11 points in his last 10 game for the Lightning. He comes with a fairly high floor as he averages just over 16 iCorsi/60 which has produced 132 shots on goal so far this year. He is a force on the powerplay and already has 21 points this season with the man advantage. He should get some opportunities tonight as Nashville ranks in the bottom 3rd of the league in PIM's per game (10.22).

Stack with - Tyler Johnson, Alex Killorn

Jeff Skinner
Opponent - PIT
FD - 6000 DK - 4700

He is a great GPP play tonight, especially on DraftKings where his price hasn't quite caught up to the recent run he has been on. He comes into this game with a five game point streak in which he has recorded 21 shots on goal and had a +4 rating for the Hurricanes. It is a tough matchup vs. the Pens tonight and is sure to go under 10% owned in tournaments and on DK allows a ton of room to pay up for an elite goalie or top Center

Stack with - Jordan Staal, Victor Rask

Also Consider - Mats Zuccarello - New York Rangers vs. LA

DEFENSE

P.K. Subban
Opponent - BUF
FD - 6400 DK - 6300

Subban has been one of the most consistent point men in the league this year. He is 4th in scoring on defense with 43 points and 2nd in powerplay points with 21 on the year. He is also one of only 4 defensemen in the top 10 in scoring who holds a + rating. he is a great pivot off the top priced D men and makes a terrific play in any format tonight as the Habs are playing excellent lately.

Keith Yandle
Opponent - LA
FD - 5800 DK - 4900

If you are looking for an affordable cash game D man tonight, Yandle makes a good pick. He has provided a nice floor recently with two points on 14 shots over his last four games for the Rangers. He isn't going to give you a ton of upside as the Rangers don't normally get a ton of offense from the point but is a safe option that can get you 2-5 fantasy points on any given night.

Also Consider - Francois Beauchemin - Colorado Avalanche @ DET

  1. I don’t have any NBA tonight and would like to try some hockey, but I’m lost on building a lineup here.

  2. For cash games try and pick a goalie who is a home favorite. Paying up for goalies in cash games is ideal. From there, in cash games, I like going cheap at Defense and pay up for forwards. Also, stacking heightens your floor. So if you decide on Crosby, adding Hornqvist or Kunitz will only help.

For GPP formats you can go for a lower owned value option at goalie. Stacking should also be used in GPP’s. To be a bit contrarian for big field GPP’s paying up for both D men can be a good approach.

Regarding stacking. I usually like to go 3 teams and stack 2 forwards from each for cash games and for GPP’s normally i like to go 2 teams with 3 player stacks.

  3. Fire any other specific questions in the comments throughout the day. i will be checking back periodically and be around an hour before lock.

  4. Solid advice. Thanks! Time to take a slapshot at this!

  5. What teams u stacking ? For cash ? I had a Montreal stack Pitts very expensive lol with that Detroit goalie too

  6. Good advice Chris. On fan duel there is a point each way for + – so try and pick guys that are on teams that are projected to score a lot of goals and are favourites to win. Crosby is a must start tonight and to fit him in u need value. Another must start for me is D Man B Smith from det. 3300. He’s the QB on detroit’s #1 pp. make sure u check the daily lineups and always take players that are on the top two lines for their respective team and power play time is essential on fan duel.

  7. For teams that have two good lines I like using one guy from each line that also get power play time. For teams that have one good line like Calgary a good cash game stack tonight is gaudreau and Monahan. If u can’t afford Crosby maybe try hornqvist and Kunitz because Malkin is out. If Malkin was playing then line #2 has a lot more value. Hey Chris when is the BETA testing over for the lineup tool?

  8. I will also be happy to answer any questions y guys have because I never played NBA until I came here and everyone has helped immensely and I’ve won the last 8 nights in a row on my cash games . Hockey is my #1 sport and I am familiar with a lot of the players. I’m from Manitoba Canada, not too far from Chris I don’t think

  9. Love MON 1 Stack tonight. They red hot with Galchenyuk back on that line

  10. Hey Ryan thanks. We are definitely close. Maybe a beer sometime. LOL

  11. Not sure on the lineup tool at this point. We are still working on some additions to help better predict on a nightly basis. Will update soon.

  12. Reply to Erin – Stacking is combining players on the same line. Instead of just playing Crosby you can also play Hornqvist and Kunitz(his wingers) to maximize your upside when Crosby gets points. A high % of goals are assisted and can have up to 2 assists.

  13. Lol yep a beer or 8 sometime sounds great I like your pga stuff as as well.

  14. Kunitz galch Gallagher abdelkader b Richards Crosby d Hamilton b smith and mrazek. How that for cash just looking to double

  15. Pitts det and mon stack w Dougie thrown in tbere

  16. No NBA 🙁 so going to give Hockey a go. Basically a first timer in DFS hockey so be gentle 🙂 This is what I have for GPP tonight? Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    LW A. Galchenyuk
    LW C. Kunitz
    RW B. Gallagher
    RW P. Hornqvist
    C P. Datsyuk
    C T. Plekanec
    D T. Brodie
    D B. Smith
    G P. Mrazek

  17. Here’s my cash game lineup on fanduel for tonight I feel confident with. LW Galchenyuk LW Zetterberg RW Andrighetto RW Zucarello
    C Crosby C Monahan D B Smith D Markov and G Mrzaek
As Chris states. Always go cheap on D. Markov and Smith are both on pp1 and their teams are favoured to win. And Andrighetto or bumped up to 2nd line and first PP at the minimum 3000, which enabled me to help get Crosby Zetterberg and Monahan all in my lineup. Good luck everyone. It should be a fun night of NHL

  18. ya currently sweating PGA. Cash game looking sad but Tourny lineup looking good. I HATE these multi course rotatiosn and especially Pro Ams. Thank god this is the last one of the year.

  19. Thomas that is a good 50/50 double lineup as well. For gpp u should play all 3 Habs top line. C plekanec

  20. Agreed. Cash it is nice to grab 2 guys on 3 teams to spread out the wealth and be a bit safer. In hockey, like baseball you can still cash with a 0 or 2 in your lineup. Not like Basketball where a 0 destroys you.

  21. Thanks Ryan. 50/50 is typically safe. For GPP should I make the lineup a little more swing for the fence?

  22. I’m doing good in cash and at the bubble in tourneys. Thanks for the burgoon pick. I’m hanging in there because of him. Jimmy walker is pissing me off though and yes pro ams are shitty. Good luck Chris

  23. Yes Thomas swing for the fence and try use a few guys that very people will own. Mrzaek is a good cash goalie but almost everyone will own him in gpp as well. I’m trying Rinne tonight @ TB Because I just never know. Good luck

  24. I switched out zuccarello for jagr. I know St. Louis is tough to score against but they’ve been beatable this year and jagr for 5500 on fla top line and 1pp is cash game gold.

  25. I may like yours a little better dan. Use it I’ll use mine. We will see how it goes.

  26. My name on fan duel is curlmonster7

  27. Idk I like urs too w the cheap guys too. Just was wondering if mine is tech safer for cash

  28. Ryan,

Thank you. I’m completely lost here. I’m going with your line up in a $2 quintuple up!

  29. I wish u luck Justin. Maybe play a 5$ 50/50 for safety also. My lineup is maybe a little too safe for quintuple up but there is definitely upside there

  30. I did as you suggested Ryan! Hopefully I have at least $9 coming my way!

  31. On fan duel datsyuk all the way because of the + – thing . Monahan can score a goal but still be a minus 3 or 4 because it’s Calgary. On draft kings there is no + – so I would go Monahan. Make sure u have at least one or two red wings though because Colorado gives up goals in bunches

  32. Yep that +/- can be a killer some nights

  33. Galch zetter hornqvist andreghetto Crosby datasyuk markov b smith and mrazek

  34. Lol btw at autocorrect what the names are changed to. So annoying haha

  35. No andreghetto in hockey beta system I noticed too

  36. I love the lineup Dan. I may become a brilliant NHL mind yet. Good luck guys. I’ll be around tonight if u wanna chat. I’m a Habs fan by the way so don’t hold that against me ha ha

  37. Lol u may be not I damn typing on mobile. I’m a lost cause I just try hard and love the game

  38. I will work on getting him in the lineup tool . Must be a spelling issue with his name why no data showing up. thanks for the heads up

  39. Didn’t see the Sabres explosion coming tonight.

  40. Ya damn Sabres. I hope everyone started Galchenyuk and Andigretto. Can u also put Gostisbehere in the system please Chris

  41. Shoulda kept abdelkader instead of that bum hornqvist. Crosby stunk too. Waste of coin . Who woulda thought kopitar

  42. Yes Dan I agree my gpp stunk also but your 50/50 should be cashing right ?

  43. Excellent man just got kicked out of small gpp and quints cuz of the ari game but turning profit ?. Thank u for the help man , and to everyone else who pitched in . Helped a lot today

  44. Shout out to Chris too he wrote this article in which everyone he mentioned had a good night except Crosby , but he didn’t show up to the game and u can’t predict that. ??, keep up great work guys !
