We are back for another night of daily fantasy hockey with 8 games on the NHL schedule. When looking at the goalies there is a lot of great options at the top with little value tonight. Pay up tonight and find value with your D men and forwards. For GPP's paying up for D men can be a nice contrarian play to get low ownership.

The following teams are playing on back to back nights:

  • New Jersey Devils (Road)
  • Philadelphia Flyers(Road)

I have started interacting through the comment section and answering questions about lineups, strategy and just about anything you wanna talk about. I pop in and out throughout the day and will be active for about an hour leading up to lineup lock at 7:00 pm ET.

Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Braden Holtby
Opponent - NJ
FD - 9700 DK - 8600

Even during his recent struggles he is still picking up wins as the Capitals own the leagues #1 offense. Despite a .900 save % over the past 10 games he has still posted a 36-6-3 record with .924 save% on the season. He gets a great matchup at home on Saturday vs. the Devils who are playing on back to back nights on the road. Holtby has faced the Devils twice this year beating them both times.

Petr Mrazek
Opponent - OTT
FD - 9300 DK - 7700

He is already confirmed starting and is coming off back to back awful starts allowing five goals in both. This recent form may open up a nice window of low ownership which is perfect for GPP's on Saturday. He has been terrific for the Red Wings this year with a 22-11-5 record and .927 save percentage. He is also familiar with the Senators as he has faced them twice this year beating them both times and stopping 55 of 59 shots.

Also Consider - Roberto Luongo - Florida Panthers vs.WPG

CENTER

Tyler Seguin
Opponent - BOS
FD - 7700 DK - 8600

He has returned to early season form with 12 points in his last nine games following the All Star Break. He provides a high floor as he ranks 2nd in the league averaging 22.0 iCorsi/60 which has produced a total of 228 shots on goal this season. He also provides a very high ceiling as he has recorded five multi point games in those nine games since the break. He gets a great matchup tonight vs. his old team the Bruins who have been prone to high scoring games as of late with their 20th ranked defense.

Stack with - Jamie Benn, Patrick Sharp

Nick Cousins
Opponent - TOR
FD - 3500 DK - 2700

If you are going to fit multiple elite players in your lineup tonight you are going to need some low end value. Cousins comes in at near minimum price on both sites and has tallied goals in two straight games and has four points in his last five games for the Flyers. He is currently centering the second line with Voracek and Umberger and even seen over 2:00 on the PP last night. If he continues to play this well his price will soon be in the mid $4K-$5K range.

Stack with - Jakub Voracek, R.J. Umberger

Also Consider - Pavel Datsyuk - Detroit Red Wings @ OTT

WINGERS

Vladimir Tarasenko
Opponent - ARI
FD - 7800 DK - 7100

The price continues to drop as he is currently on a three game pointless streak. I love targeting a struggling star player in a plus matchup. This is one of those spots as the Blues face the Coyotes who are ranked 27th in defense. Stacking Tarasenko with his linemate Jaden Schwartz makes a great GPP play on Saturday night. Schwartz has scored a goal in three of his four games since returning to the lineup.

Stack with - Jaden Schwartz, Jori Lehtera

Justin Abdelkader
Opponent - OTT
FD - 4900 DK - 4800

A terrific value play as long as his price stays below the $5K threshold. He is skating on the Red Wings top line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg and also plays on the top PP unit. He has picked up 9 points (4 on the PP) in his last 10 games with 27 shots, 13 PIMs and a +1 rating. Safe in all formats.

Stack with - Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg

Also Consider - Jarome Iginla - Colorado Avalanche @ EDM

DEFENSE

Shayne Gostisbehere
Opponent - TOR
FD - 5200 DK - 5900

He is going to be a top recommendation until he reaches the mid $6k range with the way he is playing. He extended his point streak to 14 games last night and now has 32 points in 38 games as a rookie for the Flyers. He gets another good matchup on Saturday vs. the Leafs who rank 24th in goals allowed per game.

Michael Stone
Opponent - STL
FD - 3200 DK - 4400

If you are looking for a punt play on defense Stone makes a great value tonight. He has points in three of his last four games and provides a bit more value on DraftKings as he gets rewarded for blocked shots(averaged over 2 per game in his last 10 games).

Also Consider - Tyson Barrie - Colorado Avalanche @ EDM

  • You guys know me. I'm ready to break down lineups. Had a stinker night last night

Benn, Schenn, Sharp, Adelbaker, Seguin, Cousins, Ghost, Stone and Mrazek.

  • Happy Saturday Chris. Ya Justin me also. I won a couple head to heads to minimize the damage somewhat but it's time to get hot again.
hotlby 100% for sure not gonna overthink it. Seguin ghost and cousins for sure and I'm gonna build around that.

  • Ya I rank the goalies:
    Holtby, Luongo, Elliot, Mrazek

Love the Flyers in Toronto. Have to be mad after giving that game away last night in Montreal. Cousins is a must the way he is playing and to get a guy less than $3.5K is great.

  • Abdelkader and or Zetterberg also. Right now I have schenn and cousins to get top two line exposure with Philly vs the shitty maple leafs but we will see if that lasts. It looks like Justin Williams is on a be a must start for me because u just never know when Ovie explodes and he's on his line

  • Yes Justin get that lineup in some gpps and quintuple ups for sure . Youve been doing your research.

  • Thanks guys. Let's get some $$$$ tonight!

Oh and Ryan I've discovered that most of the time if you go with your gut, you're be alright. That's my gut lineup.

  • NHL was the only lineup that won for me last night. It was the lineup I posted in here.
