Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. We have a small slate on Monday with only four games on the schedule. All teams should be well rested as no teams are playing on back to back nights and Montreal, San Jose, and Columbus are working on two days rest.

I have started interacting through the comment section and answering questions about lineups, strategy and just about anything you wanna talk about. I pop in and out throughout the day and will be active for about an hour leading up to lineup lock at 7:00 pm ET.

Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Braden Holtby
Opponent - ARI
FD - 9700 DK - 8600

On a short he will be the chalk play coming with high ownership but has a great matchup Monday. The Caps come into this game with the leagues best home record and face a Coyote team with one of the worst road records. He has been a bit shaky lately but with the offense in front of him he has won two straight and seven of his last eight games. Great option for any format but could be worth fading in GPP's due to the high ownership.

Pekka Rinne
Opponent - MON
FD - 7600 DK - 7500

He could end up being one of the lowest owned goalies and a great option for tournaments on Monday. The Predators head to Montreal on Monday to face the struggling Habs who have lost six of their last 10 games. Rinne faced the Habs back in December stopping 35 of 36 shots in a 5-1 Nashville win. He makes a very affordable Goalie option on a short slate and could end up being a terrific value play.

Also Consider -  Tuukka Rask - Boston Bruins vs. CBJ

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov
Opponent - ARI
FD - 6900 DK - 6600

He and Justin Williams have swapped centers and are now playing with Alex Ovechkin on the Caps top line. This brings even more value to the already productive Kuztnetsov who sits 5th in the NHL in points. In the two games together he has already tallied a goal and two assists. The Caps top line and PP unit is definitely my favorite of the night.

Stack with - Alex Oveckin, Justin Williams

Jori Lehtera
Opponent - SJ
FD - 4200 DK - 3500

On a short slate you are going to need to dig deep for value so it's feasible to roster the top priced, elite players. Lehtera comes in close to minimum price and is currently centering the Blues top line with Tarasenko and Schwartz. The offense hasn't been there lately which will push ownership down but the opportunity is there and that is all we can expect from our value plays.

Stack with - Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Shwartz

Also Consider - David Krejci - Boston Bruins vs. CBJ

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin
Opponent - ARI
FD - 10300 DK - 9100

On a short it may be wise to pay up for the top goal scorer in the league. He is by far the top option tonight and has been a scoring machine lately. He has 10 goals in his last 10 games and has pushed his total to 38 on the season. He also leads the league in shots with 292 on the year and has again been great defensively with a +22 rating. There is enough value tonight so it should be no trouble at all to get Ovi in your lineup.

Stack with - T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom(PP)

Brett Connolly
Opponent - CBJ
FD - 3800 DK - 3500

Another cheap value play tonight playing in a great situation. He benefits greatly from playing with Bergeron and Marchand on the Bruins top line and is coming off a terrific game where he recorded two points in a route of the Stars. Boston will look to ride the momentum into a home matchup vs. the Blue Jackets on Monday who they have beat in eight of the last 10 meetings.

Stack with - Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand

Also Consider - Cam Atkinson - Columbus Blue Jackets @ BOS

DEFENSE

Seth Jones
Opponent - MON
FD - 4400 DK - 4900

On a short slate I will be looking to roster multiple value players on defense tonight. I will start with Jones who has provided a terrific floor for his new team. In his last six games he has tallied four points and added 21 shots on goal. He provides added value on DraftKings with blocked shots and is also getting ice time on the Blue Jackets top PP unit.

Dmitry Orlov
Opponent - ARI
FD - 4100 DK - 3500

He has been moved up to the top pairing with Brooks Orpik and hasn't disappointed  in his first two games. He is coming off a game vs. the Devils where he saw a huge bump up to 18 min of ice time and recorded two assists and had a +4 rating. At near minimum pricing he will continue to provide great value with added opportunity for the NHL leading Capitals.

Also Consider - Colton Parayko - St. Louis Blues vs. SJ

  1. Ok boys. Lets do this. You already know what to do. I am uncertain about this.

Ovechkin, Schwartz, Williams, Oshie, Kuznetsov, Lehtera, Jones, Braun and Rask. How good of a defender is Justin Braun for San Jose?

  2. Gamble lineup alert!

Domi, Eriksson, Williams, Oshie, Kuznetsov, Johansson, Ekman-Larsson, Jones, Rask
I’m using both lineups in a 100-man FD league.

  3. Braun is good for his team but does very little for fantasy purposes. He’s a for sur no vs St. Louis. Concentrate on Boston and Washington guys. Krejic is a must at 5500 tonight and kuznetsov at 6900. Ovie will be very tough to fade. Holt U or radk for goalie.

  4. Hi guys. Happy Monday. I agree with Ryan on Braun. Not enough fantasy upside and more of a shut down D man. That game is trending to be low scoring as well and could possibly rob a shutout from one of the goalies. I like Holtby to bounce back tonight though for cash games. He will be high owned for gpp.

Rask makes a fine GPP play as his game logs haven’t been good and most people might fade, even on a small slate.

  5. Johansson and Larsson have question marks. How worried should I be?

  6. Ok guys here we go. I’m rolling with three different lineups this time because I can’t make up my mind.

    Gamble lineup
Ovechkin, Beleskey, Gallagher, Kuzenetsov, Backstrom, Carlson, Markov and Gustavsson.

    L1
Domi, Eriksson, Neal, Gallagher, Kuzenetsov, Krejci, Carlson, Jones and Holtby

    L2
Same as L1 except RWs are Williams and Oshie, D is Subban and Jones

  7. Sorry guys it has been a crazy Monday as usual getting PGA and NHL ready for tomorrow. Lineups look good Justin GL
