Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. It is a light night on the NHL schedule with 4 games but still some terrific matchups with tons of opportunity for fantasy points.

I have started interacting through the comment section and answering questions about lineups, strategy and just about anything you wanna talk about. I pop in and out throughout the day and will be active for about an hour leading up to lineup lock at 7:00 pm ET.

Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Braden Holtby
Opponent - MON
FD - 9800 DK - 8700

On a short he will be the most popular option again and for good reason. The Capitals are the best team in the league and have currently won four straight and nine of their last 10 games. Holtby has greatly benefited from the offense in front of him lately going 8-1 in his last 10 games with a pedestrian .902 save percentage. Overall he has been instrumental in the Caps success going 38-6-3 with a .924 save percentage. The Caps are big favorites (-250) at home on Wednesday as the struggling Habs (losers of 6 of their last 10) come to town.

John Gibson
Opponent - BUF
FD - 7900 DK - 7400

The Ducks are the other big favorite (-260) on this slate and Gibson should get another start tonight. He has split time with Frederik Andersen this season but has been the better option lately. He has made the last two starts for the trending Ducks winning both and allowing just two goals against in each. The Ducks have another terrific matchup on Wednesday as they face the Sabres who have struggled on the road this season.

Also Consider -  Marc-Andre Fleury - Pittsburgh Penguins @ BOS

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf
Opponent - BUF
FD - 8400 DK - 6000

He has been an absolute tear lately picking up 15 points in his last 10 games with an impressive +12 rating. He has been the driving force behind the turn around in Anaheim after an awful start. The Ducks now sit only two points back of the Kings for the lead in the Pacific Division. His salary is right where it should be on FanDuel but comes at a tremendous value on DraftKings and is as close to a must play as you will find.

Stack with - Corey Perry, David Perron

Joe Thornton
Opponent - COL
FD - 6600 DK - 5500

His salary has finally crept up on both sites to the point where he isn't a must play every night. On a short slate however, you will want exposure to the Sharks as they travel to Colorado to face the Avs who rank 21st in goals allowed per game. Big Joe is coming off a four point game in St. Louis on Monday and now has 14 points(6 on the PP) in his last 10 games. He will be highly owned on a short slate but very tough to fade.

Stack with - Joe Pavelski, Tomas Hertl

Also Consider - Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins vs. PIT

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin
Opponent - MON
FD - 10900 DK - 9200

His elite play since the All Star break has his salary at close to a season high. He is now costing you 18% of your DraftKings salary and 20% of your FanDuel salary. He is still a great play! Not only does he have three straight multi point games, 13 points in his last 10 games, he has averaged close to 7 shots per game over the last few weeks. The projection system is in love with him again and on a short slate he is the one player to pay up for in GPP's.

Stack with - Evgeny Kuznetsov, Justin Williams

Jarome Iginla
Opponent - SJ
FD - 5800 DK - 4700

The veteran winger has points in four straight and eight of his last nine games. He is also contributing on the powerplay which adds extra value. His salary is creeping up on both sites but still offers some room for value going forward. He is currently skating in the Avs second line with Duchene and Grigorenko and together they make a low owned stack tonight in a tough matchup vs. the Sharks.

Stack with - Matt Duchene, Mikhail Grigorenko

Also Consider - Patric Hornqvist - Pittsburgh Penguins @ BOS

DEFENSE

Kris Letang
Opponent - BOS
FD - 7600 DK - 6900

If you are paying up for a D man tonight it would be wise to take the discount on DraftKings and roll with Letang. He is $1,300 cheaper than Burns and makes an elite option tonight as the Pens visit the Bruins. He has 12 points in his last 10 games with 37 shots on goal, 18 PIMs and a +5 rating. He is safe in all formats tonight.

Cam Fowler
Opponent - BUF
FD - 4500 DK - 4100

If you are looking for value at the D position tonight, Fowler makes a terrific value under $5K. He has started to show his offensive upside lately with six point sin his last 10 games including a 3 point game in Calgary. He has been providing a solid floor lately with 2+ shots on goal in each of the last five games. He is a part of the Ducks top D pairing with Sami Vatanen and share the blue line on the top powerplay. Both make good picks tonight but I lean Fowler due to the salary savings.

Also Consider - Rasmus Ristolainen - Buffalo Sabres @ ANH

  1. Finally I was in the black and won a few H2H and double ups. Had a great night from the Tampa goalie, who I’m not gonna even try to spell out, and stamkos and Spezza helped a lot. Tonight is only 4 games but I love the smaller slates for cash games and also gpps for the fact that u can put your focus on only a few teams and not like 24 of em.

  2. Ya I had a good night on FanDuel. I love smaller slates as well. Can really take some GPP shots with 2nd 3rd line stacks while the crowd will be on high end plays.

  3. Frederik Anderson is starting for the Ducks not Gibson tonight. Still a nice value but there are better options. I am all over Rask tonight.

  4. Another good night. Won 75% of my games. Things are heating up. Two nights in a row. Finally getting back on track. Time to shine now.
