Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. Tonight we have 8 games on the NHL schedule as we inch closer to the playoffs. There are some terrific matchups between top offenses and weak defenses (DAL 2nd vs. MON 20th) providing a ton of fantasy value tonight.

The following teams are playing on back to back nights:

  • Buffalo Sabres (Home) *3rd Game in 4 nights*
  • Boston Bruins (Road) *3rd Game in 4 nights*
  • Tampa Bay Lightning (Home)
  • San Jose Sharks (Road)

If you have any questions throughout the day be sure to join the conversation in the comments section below. Also, be sure to check LeftWingLock to get confirmation on all of the starting goalies for Sunday. Now onto the picks.

Goaltenders

Pekka Rinne
Opponent - WPG
FD - 8700 DK - 8100

When looking for a main cash game goalie tonight, Rinne checks all the boxes. He is playing fantastic lately going 6-0-2 with a .948 save % over the last couple weeks. In that time the Preds have allowed 28 or more shots in every game giving him a fairly high floor on the 12th ranked defensive team in the league. He gets a great matchup tonight as the Preds travel to Winnipeg as -145 favorites. The Jets have fallen into a tie in the basement of the Western Conference with Edmonton and Calgary. look for another big Predators win as they try to hold onto their six point lead in the wild card standings.

Cam Talbot
Opponent - SJ
FD - 8200 DK - 7100

This recommendation is solely for GPP purposes tonight. The Oilers are at home in a tough matchup vs. the Sharks who sit 3rd in the Pacific Division.  They are also coming off a 5-1 win last night vs. the Canucks. After a prolonged losing streak in early February, Talbot has since turned it around and is playing at a very high level. He has won four straight games not allowing more than one goal in a game. The floor is high as the Oilers give up a ton of shots. He should be low owned and leaves a lot of salary on the table to pay up for some elite players tonight.
Also Consider - Joonas Korpisalo - Columbus Blue Jackets vs. DET

CENTER

Sidney Crosby
Opponent - NYI
FD - 9800 DK - 7800

After a terribly slow start to the season, Crosby has brought them back to life and sitting in a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. He has been playing at an elite level with 12 points in his last 10 games including four multi point games and a +9 rating. He is tied with Connor McDavid with 24 points since the All Star break and doesn't look like he is letting up anytime soon. Hard to believe but there is still upside with Sid as the Pens powerplay has been awful scoring only three goals with the man advantage since February 8th.

Stack with - Patric Hornqvist, Scott Wilson

Victor Rask
Opponent - OTT
FD - 4400 DK - 4000

The projection system loves Rask tonight in a matchup vs. the Senators who rank 27th in goals allowed per game. He is coming off a two point performance vs. the Lightning and has tallied six points in his last 10 games with 21 shots on goal. The Hurricanes make a terrific contrarian GPP stack and should be very low owned tonight.

Stack with - Jeff Skinner, Phillip Di Giuseppe

Also Consider - Jason Spezza - Dallas Stars @ MON

WINGERS

James Neal
Opponent - WPG
FD - 6100 DK - 6000

He is a terrific mid range option safe for all formats tonight. He has started march in the right way with three points in three games with an extremely high shot volume. In those three games he has fired 15 shots on goal and has averaged over three per game for the season. This gives him a safe floor for cash games while he provides multi point upside and has 11 such games this season.

Stack with - Calle Jarnkrok, Ryan Johansen

Mark Stone
Opponent - CAR
FD - 6000 DK - 5600

Since the start of February Stone has been one of the hottest players in the league and comes at a very affordable mid range salary. He has tallied 19 points in 17 Feb/Mar games with 47 shots and a +8 rating. The Sens face the Hurricanes tonight in what should be one of the higher scoring games as both teams rank in the bottom half of the league in defense.

Stack with - Zack Smith, Jean-Gabriel Pageau

DEFENSE

Brent Burns
Opponent - EDM
FD - 7700 DK - 8200

He continued his torrid pace with another two points last night in a 2-1 OT win vs. the Flames. He has now scored in four straight games and has 59 points on the year. His high price tag keeps me away in cash games but for GPP he is an elite option tonight vs. Edmonton who ranks 25th in goals allowed per game.

Kris Russell
Opponent - MON
FD - 4100 DK - 4500

Still no word about the injury to John Klingberg and it is very possible he will sit out again tonight. Enter newly acquired Kris Russell. He was thrust into Klingbergs role on the PP last game and produced for fantasy owners with an assist on 24 minutes of ice time. He will get another terrific opportunity tonight as the Stars top D man. Alex Goligoski is another great value for the Stars if Klinberg should sit. The Stars are big favorites on the road facing the struggling Habs.

Also Consider - Travis Hamonic - New York Islanders vs. PIT

  1. Would Neal Forsbeg with Weber be a good stack

  2. Last night I stacked Bos1 and TB1 and while I cashed my 50/50, the TB1 stack hurt. Ouch!
Roger – the projections for your stack above look decent. I am looking at stacking Dallas 1 and Ottawa 1……any thoughts?

  3. I’m rolling with the Dall1 and Ott1 in two of my lineups. I have three other lineups to deal with.

Chris which lines do you fancy tonight? I broke even last night, but as long as you win that’s good enough to me.

Thank you for all your help

  4. My value stacks tonight are CAR(Skinner,Rask,Giuspe) and OTT(Smith, stone, pageau)

  5. I also like that NSH stack for PP

  6. Damn wish I saw this before. Oh well. Let’s see how this works out I do have the Ottawa stack and the Dallas stack in MOST of my lineups.
