Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. Tonight we have 6 games on the NHL schedule with no teams playing on back to back nights. Tonight's slate lacks the top end talent at almost all positions making it a great night to pay up for your defensmen. I will be looking for my offense mostly from the home teams tonight as five of the six road teams are in the bottom half of the league in goals allowed per game.

If you have any questions throughout the day be sure to join the conversation in the comments section below. Also, be sure to check LeftWingLock to get confirmation on all of the starting goalies for Thursday. Now onto the picks.

Goaltenders

Tuukka Rask
Opponent - CAR
FD - 9200 DK - 8600

After a night off on Tuesday, Rask will be back between the pipes on Thursday in a favorable home matchup vs. the Hurricanes who rank 25th in offense. Although he has been better on the road this season he will be tough to fade in this matchup as the Bruins are heavy favorites and have won seven of their last 10 games. Rask has played a big role in the recent success going 6-2-1 with a .933 save % over his last 9 starts.

Darcy Kuemper
Opponent - EDM
FD - 7800 DK - 7300

**Update** Kuemper will be starting tonight in place of Devan Dubnyk. While he hasn't had the same recent success as Dubnyk he makes a terrific value play against the Oilers tonight.

Also Consider - Martin Jones - San Jose Sharks vs. NJ

CENTER

Aleksander Barkov
Opponent - OTT
FD - 6400 DK - 6300

The top line in Florida is back together after a two week injury absence from Jonathan Huberdeau. This is good news for their playoff hopes as they have slipped from 1st in the Atlantic Division down to 3rd behind the Bruins and Lightning. They will look to end a three game slide tonight at home vs. the Senators and their 27th ranked defense. Barkov has been heating up again with points in six of his last seven games.

Stack with - Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Huberdeau

Alex Galchenyuk
Opponent - BUF
FD - 5900 DK - 4900

He has been all over the place for the Canadiens this year. From third line center to Left Wing and back again. He is the future of the Habs and is being groomed to be the #1 center going forward. He is now skating with Andrighetto and Pacioretty and the top  line has not disappointed so far. Galchenyuk has tallied 10 points in his last seven games and added 30 shot and a +4 rating. In those 10 games he has also recorded four multi goal games showing his tremendous upside for fantasy.

Stack with - Max Pacioretty, Sven Andrighetto

Also Consider - Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins vs. CAR

WINGERS

Brad Marchand
Opponent - CAR
FD - 8500 DK - 6900

The Bruins have been playing great lately winning seven of their last 10 games climbing in to a tie for first in the Atlantic Division. The top line of Marchand, Bergeron, and newly acquired Stempniak have been really carrying the scoring load. Marchand comes into this game with points in four straight and has 11 points in his last 10 games. in that time he has added 32 shots on goal, 14 PIMs and a +5 rating. The Bruins powerplay has been extremely quiet lately going 2 for its last 23 and if they get it going Marchand's upside will go through the roof.

Stack with - Patrice Bergeron, Lee Stempniak

Zach Parise
Opponent - EDM
FD - 7300 DK - 7000

It has been a rough season for Parise to this point. He has missed 12 games due to injury and s currently on pace to record his lowest points total since his rookie season with the Devils(not counting the two seasons cut short by injury). The Wild currently sit 9 points back of the Predators for the Western Conference wild card with a game in hand. If they are going to have any shot of making the playoffs they will need their #1 guy to carry the offense. Great place to start tonight at home vs. the Oilers who have been awful on the road this season.

Stack with - Charlie Coyle, Mikko Koivu

DEFENSE

Brent Burns
Opponent - NJ
FD - 8200 DK - 8200

With tonight's slate short of elite forward talent it is a great time to pay up for Burns on the point. I normally only pay up for D in GPP formats but i will make an exception tonight with Burns. He has been red hot with points in five straight and 12 points in his last 10 games including three multi point games. He has also added a whopping 40 shots on goal to keep the floor extremely high while providing tremendous upside for the Sharks. On the surface it appears to be a tough matchup vs. the Devils and their Top 10 defense but it will be the backup Kinkaid in net for them tonight and he is coming off a game where he allowed 6 goals. The Devils have also lost 8 of their last games and have slid to the basement of the Metropolitan Division.

Ryan Suter
Opponent - EDM
FD - 5000 DK - 6100

I am all over targeting the Wild tonight for many reasons. First they are a desperate team chasing the playoffs which should lead to 100% effort going forward(or at least until they are eliminated). Second, they are huge favorites at home to the Oilers who have been awful away from home. Suter himself has been hot lately with points in six straight games including three PP assists. His price is higher on Draftkings due to the added value of blocked shots.

Also Consider - Torey Krug - Boston Bruins vs. CAR

  1. Hey guys. Last night ended my winning streak, but I can’t complain. The three game win streak has yielded me the highest payouts I’ve ever received on FD and it’s thank to you guys. I’m not doing the league this time I’m doing three GPP lineups.
    L1-
Pacioretty, Parise, Andrighetto, Coyle, Galchenyuk, Koivu, Burns, Markov and Dub
    L2-
Marchand, Hertl, Stempanik, Andrighetto, Bergeon, Galchenyuk, Burns, Braun and Dub

I need help with L3. Need two cheap line stack because I want Rask between the pipes and Burns/Suter on D. I’m thinking Bos2 and Min2

  2. UPDATE:
On L3 the Bos2 and Min2 left way too much salary left over. So I went MIN1 and BOS2. I went Burns/Karlsson on D (the two highest scoring blueliners) and Martin Jones between the pipes.

Once again thank you for showing me leftwinglock and all the advice.

  3. Thanks for the kind words Justin. I also had a bad night last night. Didn’t see COL shutting out ANH. Didn’t quite fade the Ducks enough. Oh well onto a new day. This is why DFS is great.

Dubnyk sitting tonight now so Kuemper will be starting. Can pivot easily as same price if you want or even go up to Luongo on L1

  4. For L3 if you are looking for cheap stack consider:

    SJ2 – Couture, Donskoi, Nieto
    DET2 – Sheahan, Nyquist, Tatar

Both should be low owned but very risky.

  5. Yes, last night hurt but we are all due to crap out at some point. The two best teams (record wise) since the AS break combined for 2 goals as road favorites. Such is hockey – as with baseball where good pitching beats good hitting, a hot goalie can shut down top lineups. Today is a better day – loving BOS1 and realize they will be heavily owned…..may try to sneak in BOS2 to a lineup or two for tonight.
Always enjoy the conversation and insight – thanks!

  6. Oh…….the two teams I was referring to were the Ducks and Preds.

Let’s get after it tonight guys!

    • You know I’m pretty high on the Bos2 line tonight for some reason tonight.

  7. I saw that. In L1 I went with Mrazek and in L2 I went with Lehner.

I think I may do another lineup and do Bos2 with SJ2 and get high goalie and Blue liners. I’m feeling semi lucky *knocks on wood*

  8. So I did SJ2 and Bos2 with Luongo between the pipes and Burns and Byfuglien and still have $3600 left.

Which sneaky L1 should I go with?

  9. Ok I figured it out. I’m going with the FLA 1 and SJ2

  10. Ya FLA is going to heat up with Huberdeau back

  11. Just for the hell of it I did a gamble lineup. It’s the Fla2, Det2, Byfuglien, Karlsson and Rask between the pipes.

  12. Ya Detroit mixed lines up in hopes of breaking out of the slump. For fantasy I hope they explode tonight but for real life, as a Flyers fan, I hope they keep sucking balls!!
