Welcome to another night of daily fantasy hockey with Daily Fantasy Sports Rankings. We have a small slate tonight with only four games on the schedule. With the playoffs approaching quickly it won't be hard to find value, even on a small slate.

The Calgary Flames are the only team playing on back to back nights and they are also playing a third game in four nights. With a matchup vs. the Leafs, this game has the makings of hitting the over pretty easily. The Flames rank 30th in defense while the Leafs rank 22nd.

The Philadelphia Flyers travel to Long Island on Monday night in a near must win situation. They currently sit three points back of the Red Wings for the Eastern Conference wild card while the Islanders hold down the top wild ward position. Expect a playoff atmosphere from both teams in what should be one of the best games of the night.

Goaltenders

Jonathan Quick
Opponent - NAS
FD - 9100 DK - 8400

The Los Angeles Kings look to be in peak layoff form as they head down the stretch and try and capture home ice advantage into the playoffs. After going through an inconsistent patch in January and February, Quick is back to his elite self winning three straight games and only allowing four goals in that time for a .950 save percentage. Look for the Kings to go into Nashville and take control of the game early and pick up another win.

Henrik Lundqvist
Opponent - FLA
FD - 9400 DK - 8500

The projection system loves King Henrik to get back on track today at home vs. the Florida Panthers. With him being the highest priced goalie on both sites I will proceed with caution and use only in GPP's tonight. The Rangers have been playing poorly lately losing six of their last 10 games. Lundqvist has not helped matters losing five straight himself and allowing 3 or more goals in each game. He is, however, one of the best goalies in the game and if he is going to be low owned on a short slate I will take a chance that the Rangers and Lundqvist snap out of this slump.

CENTER

Anze Kopitar
Opponent - NAS
FD - 7800 DK - 6600

The Kings have been rolling lately and the offense has been led by none other than Anze Kopitar. He comes into this matchup having tallied points in five straight games including two multi point games against the Rangers and Stars. Over his last 10 games he has recorded 13 points on 23 shots with a terrific +9 rating.

Stack with - Milan Lucic, Tyler Toffoli

Nick Bjugstad
Opponent - NYR
FD - 5700 DK - 4800

A nice affordable center option on a small slate that will most likely be owned as he skates on the Panthers third line with Tedd Purcell and Jiri Hudler. His value lies on the powerplay where he skates with the top line and gets around 2:30 of ice time. He has been hot lately with points in five straight and scored on King Henrik earlier in the year.

Stack with - Jaromir Jagr(PP), Jonathan Huberdeau(PP), Aleksander Barkov(PP)

Also Consider - Brayden Schenn - Philadelphia Flyers @ NYI

WINGERS

Johnny Gaudreau
Opponent - TOR
FD - 8000 DK - 7000

I normally reserve my Johnny Hockey shares for when the Flames play on home ice but on a short slate he becomes my favorite wing option. He is coming off a goal last night in Montreal and has tallied eight points in his last 10 games. The second year player is having a terrific season for the Flames with 71 points in 71 games this season. I have a feeling this could be the highest scoring game of the night and will have heavy exporure to the Flames top line.

Stack with - Sean Monahan, Josh Jooris

Michael Raffl
Opponent - NYI
FD - 4700 DK - 3700

Raffl makes a nice punt play, especially on DraftKings where his salary comes in under $4K. He has been playing his best hockey here in March with points in five of his last seven games including three multi point games. The Flyers are in desperation mode and need every point they can get as they sit on the outside of the East playoff race. Look for every player to come out flying tonight and the Flyers 3rd line could be very low owned and perfect for GPP formats.

Stack with - Sean Couturier, Sam Gagner

Also Consider - Kyle Okposo - New York Islanders vs. PHI

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano
Opponent - TOR
FD - 6600 DK - 7500

He is the top D man on the slate tonight and enters a terrific matchup in a possible high scoring game vs. the Leafs. Gio has been extremely consistent for fantasy lately with 10 points in his last 10 games and has added 37 shots for a very safe floor. Four of those 10 points have come on the powerplay while he has also added two short handed points. Fire up the Flames on Monday, we are having a Leaf BBQ.

Calvin de Haan
Opponent - PHI
FD - 3000 DK - 3900

This play is for DraftKings only. He provides little offensive upside with only 10 points on the season but makes a terrific punt play who provides value in the form of blocked shots. In his last four games he has totaled 17 blocks and averaged 3.0 DraftKings points per game. On a small slate he allows lots of salary relief to be used on the top plays of the night.

Also Consider - Alec Martinez - Los Angeles Kings @ NSH

  • Haven't been able to post too much over the weekend. I have been cold the past few nights missed cashing each night by about three points.

Who's hot? I may use your lineup!

  • Second straight losing night for me. It looked promising early but in the end the CGY LU Flamed out. Get the pun? I will be looking to get back on track and on a mission. My bankroll winnings from last weekend are beginning to dwindle.

  • Really small slate tonight so go low exposure with your bankroll.

The CGY/TOR could be high scoring and the Flames are the better team. If you want to go contrarian in a GPP got TOR stack. I am trying to convince myself. Gonna take some time to get the confidence to click the submit button though. LOL. Maybe combine him with Lundy who has been terrible but still an elite goalie.

As a Flyer fan I am in a weird spot again. They are in due or die mode almost but were flat last game. I can see them blowing up tonight but I can also see them sucking balls again. The latter wouldn't surprise me as they are famous lately for being just good enough to be in a playoff race but shitty enough to miss playoffs and get a high draft pick. GRRR.

Anyways those are some early thoughts post article. I will be away for a few hours but back again after lunch to chat pre game.

    • If you were feeling a little crazy and wanted to play TOR tonite in a GPP, which line are you looking at? I have always been a bigger fan of playing the L1 at home and L2 on the road because of the last change rule, but wasn't sure if you saw a difference or had a preference in DFS on L1 vs L2 on home/road.

  • Yes, I'm running cold. 3/4 losing nights. I started off winning 18/19. Would love to get hot again.

Nothing final but my first rough draft on lineup. Please advise, I need it lately!

Monahan, Tavares, Frolik, Lucic, Parenteau, Leddy, Hamilton, Lundy, and Rielly.

  • Managed to get a few wins last night in the 50/50's and won two heads up aswel. Finished just short in a gpp :(

Is there any guidelines on how much of my bankroll i should be betting each night?

  • Antony - You honestly have to set your own limits for each night depending on what you can afford to lose. I personally follow this(most nights lol):

I usually play 20% of my bankroll nightly/daily. Of that 20% i run about 70% Cash games and 30% GPP's.

I consider cash games to be H2H, 50/50's, double ups and triple ups. I started out playing solely double ups and 50/50's but have since changed my tune. I play mostly H2H when playing cash games in hockey. If you have a bad night you will still likely win some H2H's, recooping some investment back where as on a bad night only playing doubles you lose it all.

  • @ Chris

Nice perspective on the H2H something I may implement during this cold stretch!

    As of now lineup
Nielsen, Monahan, Frolik, Parenteau, Kreider, Gio, Hamilton, Lundy and Nylander

  • Mixed results yesterday too, thanks to ANH1 line and Gibson. SJ1 saved yesterday from being a total disaster.

Looking at short slate tonite and as a NYR fan I am concerned about this entire team tonite. Like Chris, I feel like my team is due, esp at home, but not sure any of them are a great play tonite. Lineup tonight looks to be LA1, CAL1, Streit, Reilly, and Quick in net. Any thoughts or feedback is welcome! Good luck all!

  • Thanks for the advice Chris, always appreciated. I am starting to swing more towards head to heads

  • I'm second guessing and destroying my LUs today. I think I'm leaning on PHI1, CGY1 and LA1.

Are there any L2 that I should considering pairing with LA1 and PHI1? I know your iffy on them Chris but a PHI stack with Ghost Bear has not done me wrong yet.
