Daily Fantasy Baseball News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 5/9/16

Welcome to the daily MLB updates and news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock today.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the batting lineup changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

What We Know

Archie Bradley is starting, not Rubby De La Rosa

The Diamondbacks originally had De La Rosa as the pitcher for this game and have recently changed it to Archie Bradley. just a heads up. It really doesn't make too big of a difference as they are both righties that struggle against lefties.

3 weather concerns

We are looking at some serious weather concerns in Cincinnati, Texas and Minnesota. The forecast does not look too good but weather can change in an instant and is something you need to keep an eye out for. I will update here if anything is made official prior to game start.

Personnel

Note - I will update this section throughout the day as lineups are released and injury news is broke

  • Alex Avila has returned from the DL and will start against righties from here on out. He is an interesting play today against Colby Lewis.
  • Brian Dozier remains day-to-day with a hamstring injury. I will update here when the lineup is released.
  • Starlin Castro left yesterday's game with a rib injury. His status for today is unclear.
  • Billy Burns is out of the lineup.
  • Jacoby Ellsbury is still out of the Yankees lineup.
  • Jay Bruce is out of the lineup
  • David Peralta will remain out at least 1 more day with the injury.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

Brian McCannBrian McCann FD 3100 DK 3600
Opponent - KC (Young) Park - @NYY
FD - 16.49 DK - 12.41

Brian McCann is in a terrific spot here against the Royals and Chris Young. If you read our stacks article, you would know how big of a fan I am of this entire Yankees team tonight. Chris Young has begun the evident regression with 8 home runs in only 19 innings of work. McCann has smashed righties over the course of his career to a .344 wOBA and a 34.6% hard contact rate. This ballpark s a huge downgrade for Young as he is going from Kauffman Stadium to Yankees Stadium. Kauffman is one of the best pitchers parks in the league and Yankees Stadium is the absolute opposite. The short porch in right field is going to get some airmail tonight and McCann may be the delivery man.

Carlos GonzalezCarlos Gonzalez FD 3900 DK 5000
Opponent - ARI (Bradley) Park - @COL
FD - 16.66 DK - 12.78
Charlie BlackmonCharlie Blackmon FD 4500 DK 4600
Opponent - ARI (Bradley) Park - @COL
FD - 14.11 DK - 12.22

This dynamic outfield duo is finally back together for a series in Coors Field and they get to take on Archie Bradley for the first game back. Bradley has struggled against both sides of the plate in his short career with a combined .386 wOBA. When you combine that with Coors Field, good luck. Gonzalez and Blackmon have both smashed righties over the past couple years with a +.366 wOBA and 34.4% hard contact rate. Blackmon also brings some stolen base upside as Welington Castillo is one of the worst catchers in the league at throwing runners out.

Miguel SanoMiguel Sano FD 3100 DK 4200
Opponent - BAL (Wilson) Park - @MIN
FD - 13.58 DK - 10.28

Sano is my pick for home run of the night if you make me pick one out of Coors Field. Tyler Wilson is one of the worst pitchers on the slate and has exhibited reverse splits over the course of his short career. Wilson brings a fastball and in-effective changeup to the table. Sano crushes both of them and struggles against the slider, which Wilson doesn't throw. While Target Field may be a huge ballpark, Sano has the power to get it out anywhere. Sano has also shown reverse splits in his first 2 years with a wOBA of .368 against righties.

One other note: There are big differences between DraftKings and FanDuel pricing so the optimal lineups are looking quite different.

These are players that show up in each of the top 10 lineups as produced by our lineup optimizer. This doesn't necessarily mean that they're "safe," it just means that their projected weighted-mean point total is a solid building block for a great lineup foundation today.

Good luck out there today! If you want access to all of our numbers, get started with a free trial below of our lineup optimizer, on us!

  1. I love the Rockies today, but am hesitant to roster DBax. Chatwood has looked really good. I know he didn’t earlier in the year at home, but he has really looked good recently
Add the fact that with Peralta iffy tonight, Arizona has zero scary left handed hitters. Goldscmidt has looked mediocre all season as well. Not saying start Chatwood, but I am not stacking DBax.

    • This happens every time the Rockies aren’t in Coors Field for a week or two. People forget just how big of a difference it makes.

    • Chatwood is horrible at home. I would not hesitate to add a few hot D-Backs.

  2. I guess we will see. I would much rather have guys like Stanton and Machado at the same or less salary than the inflated Arizona salaries today. Just have a feeling.

    • Anthony you don’t need me to tell you but their lineup will dictate how you approach dbacks if a cheaper option happens to become available in favorable spot

    • That is definitely a great approach in tournaments.

  3. Agreed. Drury has a nice salary if he hits 2nd but just not feeling it like I normally do for a Coors game. Now watch them score 15 runs.

    • I see Lamb batting 2nd but if Weeks were to get top 5-6 at 2200 I’m holding my nose but he’s probably in my lineups to fit other pieces

    • No peralta puts drury in 2 hole lamb to cleanup

  4. Is the weather in chi town supposed to hold up? Of so why has Jon Lester not been mentioned against SD?

    • For one, the weather doesn’t look too good. Secondly, the Padres are much better against lefties with Kemp and Myers.

  5. Hermann did win me a lot of tourny $$ yesterday so maybe I shouldn’t be down on them.

  6. I wanted to give some thanks to the DFSR guys. Rolled with an Orioles stack yesterday based mostly on the advice in the hitter stacks page and it helped me take top spot and $600 over on Fantasy Aces. It’s my second “big” win over there and my research always starts on your website. So thanks again! Keep up the great work!

    • Awesome!!! Congrats. As the one who wrote that article, it fells awesome to know someone used it and won some cash.

    • Awesome! As the guy who wrote that article, it is amazing to hear this! Keep p the good work!

  7. I’m in Chicago and it’s overcast but no rain yet today. Should I be concerned about Minnesota & Cincy weather? Any postponement at those locations will wreck majority of my lineups- thoughts please?

    Thanks

  8. Anybody else wondering why the pirates are so expensive? (Draftkings)

    • Because they are playing in Cincy with a very weak pitcher. The Great American Ballpark has been affectionately called the “Great American Smallpark” in the DFS world. It is a launching pad and Pirates have the bats to show Strailey to the seats.

  9. Thank u for the suggested Yankees stack all ones I picked hr so far

  10. Yankees stack killing it with 5 solo shots through 3 innings. Mad props to you guys

  11. I am off to an awesome start but had Sano in 7 lineups, damn… Where’s the love on my above question dudes!? Better luck next time.
