Weekly NFL Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel - Week 1

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

You can grab a free trial to test out yourself.

Typically with stacks we’ve concentrated on Quarterback-Wide Receiver pairings with goal of grabbing a team’s entire TD output (with the idea they’d put the ball in the air). But for Week 1 some interesting three-player stacks exist. Because pricing was released so early by FanDuel and DraftKings, there are a few QB-RB-WR combinations we can consider that others will avoid because they believe it will be a case of diminishing returns. But this week is different because the price points on some players are simply too low. With that in mind, let’s take a look at these combos with a focus strictly on GPPs.

Amari CooperAmari Cooper FD 7100 DK 7200

Consider:>/strong> Michael Crabtree.

The Raiders and Saints have the biggest Vegas over/under of the week sitting at 52 with New Orleans only -1.5. We are expecting an outpouring of points from these two squads who struggled on defense last year and didn’t do much in the way of improving. Cooper falls a half tier below the guys like Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins but has as much upside as anyone. A significant downfield threat I love stacking him with Carr here and if you think Amari takes the leap this season to a consistent, double-digit targets guy then we are getting a nice price on him. He makes for the pivot away from the big boys mentioned above. With Murray you get a heavy carries guy who will see the ball down and close. He could give way to Deandre Washington on third and longs, but I still think he sees the volume to contribute at his prices.

The Seahawks are in an interesting spot this week. They come in as the highest favorite on the board at -10.5 against the Dolphins which could spell blowout. But that potential blowout would have to come from somewhere and these would be the three to do it. First off, Wilson might be the top QB play overall this week. He’s improved on his passing efficiency, can make magic with his legs and is facing a terrible defense in the Dolphins. Plus he has a clear red zone target in Doug Baldwin. This combined with Thomas Rawls potentially sitting with leg issues (and "illness") and we could grab Christine Michael as a super cheap punt out of the backfield. Honestly, this trio also strikes me as safe for cash games as well because the floors relative to their pricing and matchup don’t make it so you are reaching.

I think this stack is a bit off board in that more folks will consider Brandin Cooks in this matchup. But I think Snead has significant upside. First off, as mentioned with Carr-Cooper, the game could end up being a track meet in New Orleans with it basically a pick’em and the highest over/under of the week. Snead was an interesting case last season. He wasn’t a starter the entire season, but when he did he saw around 8 targets a game for more than 70 yards per. He’s a value play this week and with so much in the way of WR1 upside, you will get him relatively off the radar. The key here with Snead is he allows the cap flex to play Brees and Ingram who are both priced in the upper register. The Raiders are about an average defensive squad, but the game total here is what’s intriguing. Ingram isn’t a guy who rates out as a crazy value play in our system, but he fits salary-wise when you start considering Snead. He saw increased targets last season (60, up 24 from 2014) and

Gary BarnidgeGary Barnidge FD 6300 DK 4700

Ooh boy. Don’t jump out on me just yet. Wait, wait, come back. Look, to win a GPP you sometimes need to go off board and this could be an interesting spot. A couple of funky things about this game. First off the Eagles are going with Carson Wentz as the starter and yet are still -4 going in. That feels off to me and I think the Browns could have the ball more than we expect. Griffin isn’t the most efficient passer but he did look Barnidge’s way in the preseason and the latter was the second most targeted guy in the Red Zone last year. Duke Johnson is a pass-catching back who, for all intents and purposes appears better than the Isaiah Crowell. It will just be the opportunity. If you think the Browns do fall behind here, or get more volume than normal because of the Eagles’ QB situation then this is a great off the board stacking option.

  1. Yeah, let’s do a Saints stack and leave their #1 WR out of it…come on man.

    • These are for GPPs, I’m putting Brees w/Snead and not Cooks because everyone will have Cooks. Which is what the write up mentioned as why they made that decision.

    • You are ignoring price. These stacks are meant to fit in together with value without having to pay top dollar in each area. Pretty simple concept really.

  2. Pretty sure the Browns aren’t going with Carson Wentz as the starter
