Daily Fantasy Football News, Notes and Updates FanDuel and DraftKings – Week 5 10/9/16

In this article, we'll be breaking down the top news around the league and provide you with an analysis of what we expect to happen. We will also provide you with an "every lineup guy" section, just like we did for baseball. As always, these picks are informed by our lineup optimizer, the NFL spread for each contest, year to date NFL stats, and so on. So let's welcome football back into our lives, and let's get this show on the show on the road!

Check out our  NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Every Guy Lineups

Jordan Howard (CHI) vs. IND
DeAndre Washington (OAK) vs. SD

Everyone's lineup this week is going to include: Rookies, rookies, and even more rookies! Rookies for everyone!

With Jermey Langford and Latavius Murray out for Week 5 -- rookies Jordan Howard and DeAndre Washington will get the start for their respective teams. They are affordable and will get heavy workloads, which is why you will see them in just about every lineup this week.

Tournament Stack

Derek Carr, Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper (OAK) vs. SD

My top stack of the week includes: Derek Carr, Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. This is kind of an obvious stack, but I love them too much this week to not tout them, so I'll go ahead and do just that.

With Latavius Murray battling turf toe, I see this Raiders' offense relying heavily on their passing game. Yes, it's always great to target QB's/WR's when there running back is down, but it's even better to target them when they are going against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. And guess what -- the Raiders are doing just that!

This Sunday, they'll be going up against the Chargers. Not only have they allowed 289.8 passing yards per game (27th in NFL), but they are also going to be without their top cover-corner, Jason Verret. I see this secondary having a very tough time taming Crabtree and Cooper, which is why I'm all over this Raiders' passing attack this weekend.
