Daily Fantasy Football Correlation Plays for FanDuel and DraftKings - Week 6  10/16/16

These are a combination of players that when performing, will complement each other. For example, a team that is behind will be forced to pass more, while the team that is ahead will run more. That makes the WR1 on the behind team and the RB1 on the ahead team correlative. There is a higher chance that they will perform well if the other does as well. Let's get into my favorite combos of the week!

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Correlation Plays

Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin

We are going to start off with a very common correlative combo. The Panthers and Saints game has the highest over/under of the week at 5 at 53, which is very high. Both teams have had trouble on defense and will be playing in the Superdome, which is a very pass friendly field. Drew Brees is my favorite QB of the week, and Brandin Cooks comes along with him as one of my top receivers. On the other side of the ball, we are looking at Kelvin Benjamin. Benjamin has definitely been up and down, but he will be heavily relied upon against a defense that struggles against WR1's. The Panthers and Saints have been in the bottom 10 of the league against the pass and I see no reason to think they will improve. While all of these guys will be pretty highly owned, I think they are tremendous options in both cash games and tournaments. Brees has huge splits at home, so look to him when he is at home.

Buffalo Bills D/ST & LeSean McCoy

The Bills will host the 49ers and will be facing the Kaepernick-led offense. Blaine Gabbert has been benched and the 9ers are going to see what they have in Kaep. I think it either goes 1 of 2 ways. Either Kaep comes out and is phenomenal, or he is horrible. I don't think he will have an average performance. In that case, the Bills defense is a fantastic GPP play. We could see turnover city in Buffalo and with dominant defense, comes a ton of rushes. LeSean McCoy is the main benefactor of a good defensive performance and has the upside to reach 25 carries. McCoy is trusted in the passing game as well, which raises his floor and ceiling exponentially. This is a stack I like in both cash games and tournaments, though the ideal tourney would be a large field.

Brock Osweiler, Deandre Hopkins & T.Y. Hilton

The Texans and Colts are another game with a pretty high implied total. While the Texans defense is alright, they have struggled a bit and are missing J.J. Watt. The Colts on the other hand, have given up over 30 points is 3 of the last 4 games. Osweiler hasn't had a huge performance yet, but I think this could be the week where it all clicks. DeAndre Hopkins has a very good match up against Vontae Davis and Patrick Robinson. While Davis is a seasoned veteran, he has been slower on his feet this year and has not been effective. On the other side of things, we have T.Y. Hilton. If you read our main picks article, you would see the merit here. Hilton has been targeted the 3rd most of any receiver and unlike previous seasons, he is actually converting on those targets. The Texans have a decent secondary, but are by no means shutdown. I do like this stack in tournaments, but if you switch Luck and Osweiler, I could see the merit in cash games.

Brian Hoyer & Jordan Howard

We looked at this combo last week and it surely paid off. Hoyer ended up with nearly 400 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Howard accumulated 163 total yards and a touchdown, which came through the air. Both of these guys have been producing fairly well, and will likely continue that for another week against the Jaguars. The Jaguars are a dumpster fire on defense and will be exploited all season against both pass and rush heavy offenses. While Hoyer and Howard are not the most talented duo, the offense is ran well for them. It is a very risk-adverse offense that focuses on field position and gradually moving the ball down the field. I actually do not mind this stack in cash games, as the Bears are projected to score and this guarantees you every Bears TD.

Ezekiel Elliot & Randall Cobb

This one is pretty interesting, and actually goes against the Vegas projected game script. However, the Cowboys are a different animal. They are going to run the ball. They are going to run it a lot. Whether they are winning or losing, Ezekiel Elliot is touching the ball. I am penciling him in for 100 yards and a touchdown, and wouldn't be surprised to see him punch 2 in. Cobb on the other hand, will likely go overlooked this week. The Cowboys have had a lot more trouble against slot guys this year, with Scandrick hindered. I expect Jordy Nelson to struggle and for a lot of his targets o go to Cobb. This is a deep tournament option, but I think you can go with Elliot alone in any format.

  1. Packers are #1 against the run.

  2. LOL Jacksonville is 10th in the NFL in defensive DVOA per Football Outsiders. If anything they should be a sleeper pick this week in tourneys.

  3. Yo Gerald man you can read this column for free. If they charged the people who read this now that would be a Trava-sham-ockery!
