Daily Fantasy College Football Picks and Betting Spotlight (Premium) for DraftKings - Week 9

We’re squarely in the second half of the season and the picture of contenders is becoming more and more clear. We really only have a handful of teams realistically vying for the coveted four playoff spots. There isn’t much happening this week that will impact the current Playoff picture with only two games that have playoff implications. Texas will need to be careful at Oklahoma State and the loser between Georgia and Florida is surely out. Other than that all eyes should be on the Track Meet between 7-0 South Florida and 6-1 Houston. With the highest total on the board at 75, this should be a fun one to watch and one where we will want to have exposure.

    Quarterback

    Brock PurdyBrock Purdy -Iowa State
    DK 7000
    Opponent Texas Tech
    Team Total - 29.75
Where did this cat come from? Wholly razzle-dazzle. Purdy wasn't even on the opening two-deep for the Cyclones and suddenly has their offense looking unstoppable. Brock saw the field a total of just one time and attempted zero passes prior to week six in an upset win over Oklahoma State. Brock followed up his gem against the Cowboys with a convincing 30-14 win over the undefeated and playoff hopeful Mountaineers of West Virginia. In just two games Purdy is already the Cyclones second-leading rusher. You heard that right! In his two meaningful appearances, Purdey has rushed for 131 yards and one score to go along with his seven passing touchdowns. His salary is more than forgiving, but there is loads of upside with his dual-threat abilities. Now with a week off to prepare and playing in front of the home crowd?. Cyclones roll.

    D'Eriq KingD'Eriq King -Houston
    DK 10200
    Opponent South Florida
    Team Total - 44.25
King makes for an extremely interesting play Saturday. As the season progress pricing becomes more and more accurate and the punts are further and fewer between. This makes rostering a guy in this salary range difficult. At first glance, I passed right over King as I feel there are multiple players that offer similar or better value price considered. Then you look at the eye-popping total of 75 which is considerably higher than the other games on the slate. South Florida has had all kinds of issues on the defensive side of the ball the past couple weeks and so facing a guy like King is not exactly ideal for the Bulls. King does it all for the Cougars and he should be a major part of scoring on Saturday. His salary will surely create some difficult and risky decisions further down your roster, but in this matchup with his skill set, 5x isn't out of the question. He won't be in my top cash lineup, but I’ll certainly have some exposure to King when College Football Saturday kicks off.

    Running Back

    David MontgomeryDavid Montgomery -Iowa State
    DK 7200
    Opponent Texas Tech
    Team Total - 29.75
Keeping with the Cyclones and that tasty matchup with Texas Tech we have David Montgomery, a living specimen of consistency. Montgomery is the quintessential bell cow back having received 111 carries through just five games. Montgomery has received fewer than 20 carries just once this season, which was week two in a 13-3 loss to Iowa. Last week he received 29 carries and turned that into 189 yards one score. The Cyclones are on a winning streak and if they want to continue their ways will want to feed Montgomery as much as he can handle. I won't repeat my thoughts on Purdy and the offense, but I have no problem repeating how much I like pairing Purdy with Montgomery for cash games. They are the peas and carrots of the slate. Be sure to eat your veggies.

    Eno BenjaminEno Benjamin -Arizona State
    DK 6700
    Opponent USC
    Team Total - 23.75
I'm fairly happy with both Montgomery above and Eno as my two backs across just about all my lineups. The elite priced backs need to run so hot with touchdowns it's a really slim margin they hit value. They’re all in play as tournament plays as they're certainly all capable of monster games, but when it comes to cash ill scroll down the salary scale a bit and happily roster the often used Benjamin. Eno has received at least two receptions in each game this season and three times snagged at least five passes. That goes along with his team-leading 753 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. The Sun Devils find ways to get him the ball and that dedication deserves to be recognized. At a sub $7000 salary the usage and opportunity exceed the cost. His floor is relatively strong and given his usage in the passing game has a very high ceiling as well. Moody’s rates Benjamin as a strong buy.

    Wide Receiver

    Antoine WesleyAntoine Wesley -Texas Tech
    DK 7100
    Opponent Iowa State
    Team Total - 26.25
There are a few ways to go in the upper tier of receivers, but if I'm making my cash lineup I prefer the floor Wesley offers. HIs salary won't crush the rest of your lineup, but he offers as much upside as any receiver on the slate and arguably the highest floor. Bowman looks to be back healthy and under center for the Red Raiders and the biggest beneficiary is Wesley. Already Tech’s leading receiver Wesley is at his best when Bowman is slinging the rock. After a clunker against TCU Wesley bounced back last week going for 155 yards and a score on 9 receptions. Wesley has 50 receptions on the year through 7 games with 47 of them coming in six games with Bowman. Texas Tech enters the game as three-point dogs with a total of 56 so the game should be back and forth. Frankly, 56 feels way too low for these two schools.

Michael Pittman Jr.Michael Pittman Jr. -USC
    DK 5400
    Opponent Arizona State
    Team Total - 30.25
Pittman has had a relatively quiet season, but has been nothing short of beast mode the past two weeks. USC’s offense, as a whole, has seemingly rotated the hot hand throughout the year so Pittman does carry some risk entering the game against Arizona State. As seven-point favorites with a total of 54 the game script figures to be favorable for USC’s skilled position players. That said, USC has really struggled to run the ball lately and has resorted to passing the ball to score. The game should pan out as a classic Pac-12 contest with plenty of offense on both sides of the ball. Pittman’s salary is not prohibitive and he offers a decent floor with tons of upside. He won't blow you away with his volume, but his efficiency has been top notch.

    Quentin HarrisIowa State -3.5
    Over 56
    Opponent Texas Tech
On paper, Texas Tech should easily be the favorite here. At 5-2 with their losses coming against Ole Miss and West Virginia they have the better resume. They got their quarterback last week and are healthy again. But Vegas knows what I think. And that's Iowa State is clicking right now. Brock Purdy has really ignited this offense and are coming off back to back upset wins over Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Coming off a bye week and their newfound energy with Purdy under center I like the Cyclones to handle business against the Red Raiders.
    Iowa State -3.5
    Iowa State over 56

    Tyrone OwensHouston -7

    Opponent South Florida
South Florida is 7-0 and ranked 21st in the nation while Houston is unranked at 6-1, but still find themselves as seven-point favorites. The Bulls have a dangerous offense and if they get rolling will be hard to stop. But in the end, Houston has the better quarterback and arguably better offense. You can almost lock Houston in for 50+ points in this contest and I just don't think South Florida can keep up. The Cougar defense comes up with more stops than the Bulls in this high scoring affair. Houston pulls away in the second half for another double-digit win.
    Houston -7
