White is a candidate to play close to 40 minutes in close games, and he’s averaging 23 points, 6.5 assists, and five rebounds over the last four. Meanwhile, the biggest encouraging sign for Alex Caruso is the minutes are more consistently hitting in the mid-30s, which is what he needs to make a safe play. The middle-tier pricing mostly works, but because the usage rate is so low, he needs to be out there enough to fill in the stats across the board. In a fast-paced, low-defense game, that should work out in his favor. Immanuel Quickley FD - $7000 DK - $6900Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 36.98 DK - 40.43 Immanuel Quickley spiked 38 minutes two games ago against the Houston Rockets, an encouraging sign if the Raptors are going to play in non-blowouts. He scored 25 points 9-19 shooting in that one. The usage can come and go in this new role, but on Monday, he’s gifted with playing the Spurs, who rank 25th on defense and run the fifth-fastest pace. That’s a nice meeting spot for him to get up a lot of shots. Tre Mann FD - $6000 DK - $4600Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 30.95 DK - 34.78 Tre Mann got the start for the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday in his first game with the new team following the trade deadline. It worked out with Mann scoring nine points, tallying nine assists, and running 27 minutes when it was all said and done. We haven’t seen this a ton in the NBA this season, but it definitely still happens from time to time. And when it does we can basically stack the cheap guys who are bound to see a ton of the usage. That’s going to start with Jaden Hardy, who is projected to take over the starting point guard duties and could chuck from the rafters in this one. He’s coming off a 20-point, seven-assist game last time out and that was in *just* 27 minutes. With Luka and Kyrie out, he has the second-highest usage on the team at 27%. I suspect he’s the most popular cash play on this slate. Then there is Tim Hardaway Jr., who should be in the starting lineup at the two-guard in this one. THJ spikes the biggest usage gain with Luka and Kyrie off the court, putting up a whopping 37.6% rate in 195 minutes. The question here isn’t whether Hardaway will take a lot of shots in his minutes, but rather if he’ll play enough minutes. There’s real blowout risk here, and he would be one of the first guys cut, seeing as how he’s a big part of their regular rotation. If he’s in the starting lineup, then it’s worth the risk for sure. But this is something to monitor to see if Jason Kidd mentions limited run for anyone. James Harden FD - $8400 DK - $8500Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 47.67 DK - 51.27 While some of the Dallas Mavericks could make for popular plays on this slate, there are some other high-powered teams in very spots for Wednesday’s NBA action. There’s a reason this game has a 243 over/under, easily the highest of the whole slate. Jamal Murray has been running big minutes of late, averaging 38 over the last four, all in regulation. The scoring can come and go, relatively speaking, but that’s also mostly keeping his price from reaching the $9K range. I love the matchup and the price on FanDuel specifically. It might be tough to roster Jokic in this game if you are rolling with Anthony Davis, but Murray gives you a chance to get exposure to this game. D'Angelo Russell FD - $7100 DK - $6500Opponent - LACProj Pts FD - 37.06 DK - 40.46 From a fantasy and projections perspective, LeBron James did us a huge favor early by announcing that he wasn’t going to play this game against the Clippers. While it doesn’t give the Lakers a leg up, it certainly gives us plenty of lead time on this situation from a DFS standpoint. D'Angelo Russell was already back in the starting lineup before this move, and he’ll ring in as one of the better fantasy plays here, considering the usage bump he gets with LBJ off the court. It goes from 22% to 26%, the second-highest on the team after Anthony Davis. The assists climb as well, with the ball in his hands more. His price isn’t reflective of the Lakers missing their point guard and overall GOAT. T.J. McConnell FD - $5200 DK - $5500Opponent - DENProj Pts FD - 37.32 DK - 39.18 It was announced that Tyrese Haliburton will miss the next three games due to his hamstring injury, which in theory, should mean a ton of run for TJ McConnell. SGA has put himself in the MVP discussion by averaging 31 points, 6.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.1 steals + blocks. It’s an overwhelming line stacked with a game that could be a track meet. Jalen Brunson FD - $8900 DK - $8500Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 45.97 DK - 48.49 The Thunder get to play the Pacers, and the Knicks run up against the Wizards. Washington is one of the best DFS matchups around, running the fastest pace (tied with the Pacers) while also ranking second-to-last in defensive efficiency. It’s the perfect meeting point when trying to round out DFS rosters. Jalen Brunson is coming off back-to-back 30-point games in the last two and is averaging career-highs in points and assists. Sitting below $9K on both sites, he’s a cash game play for sure. Kevin Huerter FD - $5500 DK - $5200Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 30.85 DK - 33.39 We will need some cheaper options for this slate in order to roster the SGAs and Brunsons of the world. Kevin Huerter (mostly) fits the bill here, coming in the $5K range on both sites. He’s reentered the Kings’ starting lineup for the last two games, playing 39 and 26 minutes, respectively. Foul trouble bit him a bit last game, but in general he’s been solid, putting up 23 shots in that span. With a fast-paced game coming against the Pacers, the shot volume should be there for Huerter who definitely needs to knock down threes in order to hit value. Sure, they are off the insane losing streak, but this team stinks. Anthony Edwards is the prize here, considering the usage should be there, and the matchup won’t provide much resistance.  He’s averaging 26 points, 4.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds on the season on 46/39/84 splits. He has to score and the Pistons have to stay in the game to avoid the blowout, but Edwards is a core cash game play this slate. Meanwhile, Mike Conley isn’t a candidate to push the minutes into the mid-30s, but he can get the job done at around 30 with these prices. He doesn’t take many shots (about seven per game over the last month) so you’ll need the assists to get there. He has double-digit dimes in two of the previous three games, handing out about 6.5 per game on the season. The key here is that the opponent is weak and he’s priced in the lower middle tier which helps round out lineups. D'Angelo Russell FD - $6500 DK - $6000Opponent - DALProj Pts FD - 33.2 DK - 36.53 D'Angelo Russell rejoined this starting lineup last game (at full strength), and from a fantasy perspective, it was mostly a hit. He scored 14 points while adding in six assists, two rebounds, and three steal+blocks in his 36 minutes. Sharing the court with LeBron James and Anthony Davis means the usage won’t be through the roof, but he’s priced like he’s still coming off the bench. Against the Mavericks, this is a good spot to roster D'Angelo Russell, who can hopefully hold up on the defensive end against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in order to keep the minutes there. Fred VanVleet FD - $8500 DK - $7900Opponent - DETProj Pts FD - 41.96 DK - 44.61 The Rockets draw a dream matchup against the Pistons on Friday, with Detroit among the worst teams we’ve really ever seen. They got off the epic losing streak and have started a new one. The Pistons are the second-worst defense in the league and really can’t stop anyone. Meanwhile, Fred VanVleet has seen the usage tick up over the last couple of games, taking 19 and 22 shots, respectively. He’d seen things really dip before that, averaging just 10.25 shots per game over the previous four. But seeing as how this is a smash spot for the Rockets, I’m willing to trust the short-term sample and the opponent to have FVV in the cash game mix. The price is right on both sites. Tre Jones FD - $1 DK - $6200Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 29.24 DK - 31.4 Tre Jones was a popular play last time out. Now that’s he locked into the starting point guard duties for the Spurs. It was a bit disappointing, finishing with 11 points, five assists, and two rebounds, but that was in large part because the minutes were buzzed off in a San Antonio blowout of the Pistons. Here, things should remain closer against the Hornets who are also a good matchup, playing the third-worst defense in the NBA.
