What We Know Justin Anderson and Dwight Powell will start again tonight for the Mavs. And they'll send Salah Mejri back to the land of obscurity from whence he came. Both Powell and Anderson are capable of having excellent games against the Knicks today, with Powell being the safer of the two on account of his longer track record and better rebounding ability. Anderson has flashed some significant upside, though - he's cheaper than Powell, and seems to have the ability to rack up defensive stats. Both are worth of consideration even in a big daily fantasy basketball slate tonight. Raymond Felton and J.J. Barea keep their bumps since Deron Williams has been ruled out Williams has missed three games now, but in case you missed it, both Barea and Felton have been generally excellent in his absence, and both are in a lovely spot against the Knicks' generally lousy back-court today. Felton is more of the steady-Eddie of the two, putting up 30, 30, and 25 fantasy points in each of his last three games, but Barea's role as the primary ball-handler gives him 40+ fantasy point upside when his teammates are knocking down shots. Paul Pierce is out, so we're bumping Jeff Green The little injuries are sometimes the most significant when it comes to winning big tournaments, and that could be the case here. Green played 32, 27, and 45 minutes in the last three games Pierce missed, and while he wasn't a consistent performer in those games, we know he has it in him to put up reasonable point and rebounding totals. I suspect he won't be a very big play at all, and while I wouldn't play him with your money in 50/50s, he'd be a mandatory part of a Clippers/Wolves stack for a big tourney. Jrue Holiday will miss the rest of the NBA season. This leaves the Pelicans with something like 2 guards total to play against the...

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. It's a shorter slate and a light news day, but we'll be updating as stuff rolls in. Also throw out some ideas in the comments and we can take it from there. What We Know Kobe Bryant is back, and Lou Williams is out But man, it'll be tough to walk away from what D'Angelo Russell has been doing recently. Still, keep in mind that Bryant plays 30 minutes a game with 30% usage when he's out there, and Russell's usage drops by almost 20% (from 28 to 24) with Bryant on the floor. Lou Williams' day off makes D'Angelo a little more interesting for sure, as that's another 20+ back-courts to redistribute. Still, Russell had been fluctuating between high 20s and low 30s minutes before Bryant's rest, and he won't be nearly as effective on fewer minutes with fewer usage. I'll be staying away from him until we see what his "new normal" is. Will Barton will be the man for a while with Gallinari sidelined Not a great game for Barton in his first Gallo-free game, but that just keeps the price affordable for a great match-up with the Lakers. Play him anywhere.   What We're Waiting to Know Jahlil Okafor's status He missed Monday's game, and Jerami Grant put up another terrific game in starter's minutes. This is a huge one - if Okafor is out, Grant is a terrific play once again against a soft Charlotte front court. UPDATE: Okafor is out. Grant gets a big boost.  Kenneth Faried's status Faried is being listed as questionable with another lower back strain, which is a real shame given the way he's been crushing. This...

Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/3/16

Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/3/16 Day #2 of our daily updates article! The response was so overwhelmingly positive that we're dedicated to bringing this piece to you every day where it's feasible. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it! Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight. Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. What We Know Kemba Walker is out Huge, huge news here. Walker has played some of the most minutes per game of any player in basketball in 2016, and was 2nd in the NBA in time of possession per game in the month of January (per SportVU data). This means two things: Jeremy Lin will get a zillion minutes, and Troy Daniels will get increased run. Lin's usage climbs from 22.6 for the year to 27 with Kemba off the court, and the Hornets might also be without Nicolas Batum. I'm prepared for Lin to do anything here, but I'm also prepared for the Cavs to tear the Hornets apart. As for Daniels - he's flashed a shooting stroke, but it's a big tourney play only as it's tough to predict exactly how he'll be used. Ian Mahinmi is out again Super important news today, given how the other big men have played in his absence. Jordan Hill remains a tremendous value even as his price inches upward, and Myles Turner's price remains in joke territory from where I'm sitting. Deron Williams is out JJ Barea averaged 30 minutes, and Ray Felton averaged 33 minutes in Williams' last two missed games. Both flashed big time upside with Williams missing, and while it's not a great match-up with the slow-paced Miami, I'd consider playing either today. I prefer Barea on FanDuel, just because he's cheaper and should enjoy lots of run as the primary ball handler. Tim Duncan is out again Unfortunately, this really hasn't changed things much in Spurs territory. Kyle Anderson has had a couple of interesting games, but he doesn't really have the upside to play him in big...
