Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks Update 2/5/14

This is such a monster day in the NBA that we wanted to give you some late day updates to our daily NBA picks. With seemingly every player going tonight, lineup construction can get a little out of hand. Here is some news that's come in through the day.

Guards

Jameer Nelson looks very much like he'll be playing tonight against the Pistons. I don't think Nelson is someone I'd be targeting anyway but he could eat into some of Victor Oladipo's FD $6,400 DS $12,052 production. I still think Victor is a somewhat viable option but liked him a great deal better when Nelson was going to sit.

Nate Wolters is a game time decision tonight for the Bucks. Again, like Nelson he doesn't factor too much into my plans but him sitting could impact the minutes for Giannis Antetokounmpo* FD $4,000 DS $7,808. He is super cheap across the board and has shown flashes of easily paying these salaries. We liked The Alphabet before any other news. Sticking with it.

*Spelled this correctly without looking. If you want a positive omen, that's it.

Forwards

Corey Brewer is out tonight for the birth of his child. The addition to the Brewer family could mean an uptick in minutes Dante Cunningham FD $3,700 DS $6,558. Cunningham's been productive in limited minutes this season and with a playing time increase could just crush these prices. This is a situation to monitor, especially in tournaments. It's unfortunate that Cunningham is listed as a PF on FanDuel as there's a bunch of value there tonight already.

Ryan Kelly FD $4,400 DS $8,302 and Wes Johnson FD $4,000 DS $7,030 aren't guys we included in our picks column but are worth keeping an eye on. Kelly got into foul trouble last night against Love but should stand to see quality minutes tonight. Same with Johnson who put up a big line against the T-Wolves. Jordan Hill might be out again. It looks like Nash will sit and Meeks is injured. Once again the Lakers are short players. Kelly and Johnson can be productive at these prices.

Center

Anderson Varejao has a dream matchup against the Gasol-less Lakers but I'm worried because there is some talk of a minutes restriction as he comes back from injury. If you are looking for a home run upside play I think you can roll the dice with him on DraftStreet at $13,045, but buyer beware.
