Total Bases

Troy Tulowitzki
Wilin Rosario
Going with two Rockies in my top total bases slots today for good reason. These guys crush lefty pitching and Kris Johsnson is in for some real trouble today. Tulo's numbers against lefties are out of this world as he's been the best hitter in all of baseball against that side of the split this season. Rosario, all things considered, isn't too far behind posting an OPS in the mid .900s. In case you are like me, and had never heard Kris Johnson's name before in your entire life - I'd like to submit his 9 walks in 14 major league innings as pretty much all you need to know.

Hits

Michael Brantley
A stat I love to consider in the hits category (aside from the obvious ones) is K% + BB%. Brantley's is a minuscule %16.3 this year - and that means %83.7 of the time he's putting the ball in play. On top of that, he's compiled a .325 batting average on balls in play, so Brantley is as good a bet as anyone to get a handful of hits on a certain day. Also working in his favor is his opposing match-up - Hector Noesi simply doesn't have strikeout stuff, which makes the likelihood of Brantley getting the ball in play that much higher.

Ian Kinsler
Kinsler is another beast when it comes to not walking or striking out - just 15%. The low walk rate isn't great for real baseball, but who cares about real baseball? Fantasy is where it's at. Danny Duffy will be making offers to Kinsler, and the bad news for him is that he's left handed. Kinsler kind of has a thing for left handers, blasting them to the tune of a .386 wOBA over the course of his career. A killer match up for him.

Strikeouts

Zack Wheeler
Jeff Samardzija
I get that you're probably tempted to go with Felix today, but hear me out. Oakland is really hard to strike out, and sprinkled amid a couple of insane K games from Hernandez recently are 3 games where he struck out 6 or fewer batters. Enter Wheeler and Samardzija - two young guys who can rack up a lot of Ks but and who have incredibly great match-ups. No one in the league strikes out more than the Marlins do against right handers, and Samardzija's opponent, Seattle, is also in the top 10 in the majors. I get it if you want to slide Hernandez in somewhere, but me? I'm going with the young guns.
