Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings and FanDuel for Saturday, October 31, 2015. We are now a few weeks into the season and most teams have played around 8 games so far. There are some advanced stats that I am going to start to incorporate into my analysis each night and I want to go over what the stat is and how it can be predictive in fantasy hockey.

The first stat I am going to start using is iCorsi/60 or CF/60. Corsi has been used in hockey as a proxy for puck possession as their currently is no metric available to track a player or teams actual possession time. The NHL has tested technology that will soon be incorporated but for now Corsi will have to do. It measures a player or teams shot attempts during a game. A Corsi event during a game can be 1 of 3 things. A shot on net, a shot that misses the net, and a shot that is blocked. On the team level it is measured as Corsi For and Corsi Against or more commonly as CF%(Corsi For/(Corsi Frr + Corsi Against)). For team purposes we are looking for teams above 50%. On the player level we will be using CF/60 which gives us a look into how much an individual player is attempting shots. We are looking for players who are attempting above average(approx. 10 CF/60) Corsi events per 60 minutes of ice time.

Lets now take a look into Saturday nights Halloween matchups using these advanced metrics to help us find some values and high end plays that will help us cash on DraftKings and FanDuel.

GOALIES

Marc-Andre Fleury - Pittsburgh Penguins @ TOR *PROBABLE*
DraftKings - $7,700 FanDuel - $9,800
The Penguins are the biggest favorites on the board Saturday and Fleury makes a nice play in any format. The Penguins have been giving up over 30 shots per game giving Fleury a nice floor with the amount of saves he will have to make. The Penguins are trending up recently and starting to play like a team that should be at the top of the conference(and this is hard to say as a Flyers fan).

Jake Allen - St. Louis Blues vs. MIN *CONFIRMED*
DraftKings - $7,200 FanDuel - $9,300
Favorites at home and he has wins in 3 of his last 4 starts. Has a stellar .928 save % to start the season and will have a good shot at a win Saturday vs. the Wild playing in back to back nights on the road. He is safe in all formats.

Also Consider - Tukka Rask - Boston Bruins @ TB

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin - Pittsburg Penguins @ TOR
DraftKings - $7,200 FanDuel - $8,600
He has points in 7 of his last 8 games but has only seen his price fluctuate a few hundred dollars. He is averaging 13 CF/60 and enters a matchup vs. the Leafs who are ranked near the bottom in goals allowed per game. In what should be a good Hockey Night in Canada game on Halloween, there should be lots of fantasy points to go around.

Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins @ TB
DraftKings - $6,000 FanDuel - $7,000
The Bruins are the leagues #1 offense scoring over 4 goals per game to start the year. The problem has been the defense as they are giving up over 3.5 goals per game. He is averaging 14.9 CF/60 and over a point a game. He is safe in all formats at these prices.

Also Consider Connor McDavid - Edmonton Oilers vs. CGY

WINGERS

Blake Wheeler - Winnipeg Jets @ CBJ
DraftKings - $7,200 FanDuel(RW) - $7,100
Top option for the salary tonight. Has 12 points in 10 games to start the year and is averaging 17.7 CF/60. He is getting close to 20 min of ice time a game and 2:30 of that is on the powerplay. The floor has been there all year and the upside is sky high tonight vs. a Blue Jackets team at the bottom of the league in goals allowed per game and PK%. Look for a big outing from the Jets and Wheeler.

Taylor Hall - Edmonton Oilers vs. CGY
DraftKings - $6,400 FanDuel(LW) - $7,700
He is quite a bit cheaper than the top options at wing Saturday and has been putting up the same production lately. He is playing alongside Nugent-Hopkins and has multi point games in each of his last two outings. A great matchup for the Oilers Saturday night as the Flames are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. Look for some treats from the Oilers on Halloween in the form of fantasy points.

Gustav Nyquist - Detroit Red Wings @ OTT
DraftKings - $5,200 FanDuel(RW) - $5,700
Playing top line and getting lots of powerplay minutes. Comes in at a nice price on both sites and is averaging 14 CF/60 so far in the early stages of the season. Look for the production to continue Saturday as the Wings travel to Ottawa to play the Senators who might be on tired legs as they are playing in their 3rd game in 4 nights.

Also Consider - Nikolaj Ehlers - Winnipeg Jets @ CBJ

DEFENSE

Kris Letang - Pittsburgh Penguins @ TOR
DraftKings - $5,600 FanDuel - $6,100
The points haven't been there so far this year but the powerplay has been struggling and I can't see that continuing much longer. He has been solid on DraftKings with added shots and blocked shots. Great matchup vs. the Leafs on Saturday might be just what the Penguins need.

Torey Krug - Boston Bruins @ TB
DraftKings - $5,500 FanDuel - $5,400
The offensive production fluctuates quite a bit but the fantasy production has a nice floor with blocks(DK), shots, and the odd penalty minute(FD). He is averaging over 14 CF/60 this season and should see some opportunities tonight as the leagues best offense heads to Tampa Bay for a Halloween matchup.

Also Consider - Victor Hedman - Tampa Bay Lightning vs. BOS
