Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Jeff Samardzija in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.

Chris SaleChris Sale FD 12100 DK 13800
Opponent - HOU (McHugh) Park - @CHW
FD - 43.13 DK - 24.41

If you are playing some MLB tournaments tonight; Chris Sale is your guy! There are two reasons why he is not the clear-cut option on today's slate: 1. His price tag is just through the [roof], (especially on Draftkings) 2. He will be going up against the Astros, which consist of right-handed bats that devour left-handed pitching.

You might ask yourself -- What would Nick do in a situation like this? The answer is -- not to be scared and fire away! Put Chris Sale into those GPP lineups. I know he is going up against the Astros, but that is not going to scare me away from his 30.4 K%, 1.75 BB/9 and 2.69 SIERA, since 2015. He has been lights out for as long as I can remember and provides your team with such a high ceiling.

Why am I targeting the Astros against a southpaw you may ask -- and that is because of their 25.7 K% against left-handed pitchers. While this lineup does contain a lot of power, it also K's 25% of the time. Chris Sale has tremendous upside tonight, and I just can't fade him in tournaments.

Stephen StrasburgStephen Strasburg FD 10600 DK 12900
Opponent - NYM (Harvey) Park - @NYM
FD - 35.56 DK - 19.66

While Chris Sale is my favorite tournament option on the night, Stephen Strasburg is my guy for cash games. Not only is he cheaper than Sale, but he has just been marvelous this season. He owns a 22.9 K-BB%, to along with a 2.54 FIP this season. Yes, the Mets have been dominant this season against right-handed pitchers, but there are two reasons why I am all over Strasburg tonight: 1. Strasburg has been lights out and owns a 29.8 K% 2. The Mets have been on a slump and own a 25.4 K% (2nd in MLB), .287 wOBA (30th in MLB) and 80 wRC+ (28th in MLB) over the last 14 days.

The Mets recent struggles have me leaning towards the hard-throwing righty. Not only do I love the matchup and his K-BB%, but he also sees a boost in ballpark factor heading to City Field, which only makes things better for him. He is my top cash game option on tonight's slate.

Jeff LockeJeff Locke FD 6900 DK 6200
Opponent - ATL (Foltynewicz) Park - @PIT
FD - 36.71 DK - 19.56

Our system is the -- BOMB! Everytime I question the Projection System, I end up looking like a fool. Take yesterday for example: The system loved Logan Morrison last night, and I thought it was insane! And guess what -- he goes off. He ends up going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, 1 long ball and 2 runs scored. I am not going to make that same mistake -- yet again -- so I will be riding with Jeff Locke as my SP2.

He does not have peripherals to brag about other than his 53.8 GB%, but he sure does have one thing in his favor -- and that is his matchup against the Atlanta Braves. We all know they are terrible against right-handed pitching, but they are even worse against southpaws. I did not think that was possible until I saw the stats.

They own a .247 wOBA (30th in MLB), 25.0 K% (6th in MLB) and 50 wRC+ (30th in MLB). This is the reason why our projection loves Locke tonight. The Braves can't hit or create any runs against left-handed pitchers, which puts southpaw Jeff Locke in a perfect position. Warning: I do not recommend playing him on Fanduel, especially cash games. I will not question you yet again projection system, so I welcome Jeff Locke into my lineup with open arms.
